The Amazing Race 16: Singapore Recap

| April 11, 2010 at 8:46 PM EDT

The teams make their way from Malaysia to Singapore for this leg of the race.  The dreaded U Turn is coming up and Brent and Caite want to use it on their nemesis Brandy and Carol but it is a race to see who gets their first.

The two teams have had it out for each other since day one when the ladies made fun of Caite for her beauty queen statements.  From there the two teams have managed to try and avoid each other but the looks and side comments kept going throughout the race.

Departing first was the cowboys but all teams end up together on the train to Singapore.  When they arrive at their first clue, Dan and Jordan decide to try the fast forward while the other teams make their way to the Detour.  Dan and Jordan had to ride in one of the cars in the Singapore Flier and once they reach the top they had to leave their car and crawl to the next car.  A scary situation but well worth it because they immediately get to go to the pit stop and become the first team to arrive.

The other teams reach a Detour where they choose from learning a drum routine or trying to selll ice cream on the streets.  All choose the drums but the detectives leave to do the fast forward but have to leave once they get there because it is already being done so they then have to sell 25 ice cream sandwiches on the streets of Singapore.

Brent and Caite do pretty well and finish the drums first so they reach the U Turn before anyone else and put up Brandy and Carol’s picture.  When they get to the U Turn they have some not so nice comments to say about the former Miss Teen USA contestant.  The best was calling them Brent and Caite Gump.  Brandy and Carol must now go back and sell ice cream before they can move on to the next clue.

The teams make their way to a shipyard where they get stuck with a Roadblock.  A member from each team must count the chains on a large anchor chain and if they get the correct number (521) they receive their next clue.  All teams complete this first time out.  They now make their way to a park where they ride down a mega zip line to receive their clue to the pit stop.

Dan and Jordan had already arrived a while back.  Brent and Caite come in second; Jet and Cord third; and Louis and Michael fourth.  Brandy and Carol are the last team to arrive and have been eliminated from the race.  I think they will hold a grudge against the models for the rest of their lives.

More Reality Shows for Kate Gosselin

| April 8, 2010 at 6:13 PM EDT

Have we not gotten enough of Kate Gosselin and all her drama in the last year?  I know I have but it seems the general public wants to see more so TLC has added another reality show centered around the woman and her 8 children called Kate plus 8.

Not only will we see Kate with her children but TLC is starting another reality show called A Twist of Kate which will air this summer with 12 episodes.  This show will feature Kate responding to fan mail from those individuals inspired by her story.  She will travel around the country to meet her fans’ family and try out their jobs.  Sounds to me like she won’t be home a lot to take care of her own family.  Perhaps Jon will get primary custody of the children and she will have to pay him $20,000 a month in child support.

Will you watch these new shows when the air this summer?

Richard Rushfield Thinks Tween Girls Hijacked Idol

| April 8, 2010 at 12:38 PM EDT

Richard Rushfield needs to have his head examined.  In an article titled Tween Girls Hijack Idol written for The Daily Beast Rushfield  blames the almost elimination of Big Mike Lynche on 11 year old white girls because HE THINKS they are text messaging votes for the cute white boys.  How they hell does he know?  Idol does not release the voting history so how can Rushfield be so sure who is voting for whom and why they are voting the way they are?  He doesn’t have a clue so his article is based on pure speculation and is just a propaganda piece trying to stir up the public.

He writes, “Not only do tween girls seem to prefer their Idols be male, but they also seem to prefer them to be white.”  Hmmmm, did he forget about season 2 winner Rueben Studdard or Fantasia or Jordin Sparks?  Did he take into consideration that Big Mike gave one of the worst performances Tuesday night and probably deserved to be in the bottom 3?  I think not.

The judges decided to come to Big Mike’s rescue last night by using their one and only save so he will be back singing for our votes next week.  Perhaps if he can get it together he won’t be eliminated.  Let’s face facts people, he is not the best singer in the competition so it is highly doubtful he will win.

Maybe if Rushfield keeps up this line of thinking we can figure out a way to blame the tweens for the recession, the war against terrorism and homelessness.  Some advice for you Rich, get your facts together before you attempt to brainwash the general public with your petty views of racism.

American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior

| April 7, 2010 at 7:12 PM EDT

We thought we had seen the last of the American Chopper series back in February when TLC aired the finale but get ready for round 2 which pits Paul Teutul Sr. against his son Paul Teutul Jr. and airs in August.

The series has gone without both Paul Jr. who was fired by his dad over a year ago and Mikey who was in rehab for alcoholism.  Since Sr. is no longer communicating with his sons the show will follow them both separately.  The New York Post reports that filming will start next week and Paul Jr. Designs is located across the street from Orange County Choppers.  I think we can probably expect a lot of drama come August.  “I’m always hopeful for a reconciliation, but sometimes these things happen for a reason,” Junior told The Post yesteday. “Even though you never want dissension in any family, especially with your father, this has allowed me to break out and do things on my own.”
