HOT FROM FOX

MIA MICHAELS AND ADAM SHANKMAN JOIN NIGEL LYTHGOE AS RESIDENT JUDGES ON “SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE

Season Seven Premieres Thursday, May 27, on FOX

Emmy Award-winning choreographer Mia Michaels and acclaimed director and choreographer Adam Shankman will return to SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE as the series’ resident judges. Michaels – who has been a guest judge and choreographer on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE since its first season – will sit alongside Shankman and Nigel Lythgoe as the new judge and draw upon her expertise to critique and praise the dancers throughout the competition.

“I am extremely happy that Mia and Adam have returned and agreed to be resident judges,” said Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer/co-creator, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. “Mia’s outspoken approach combined with Adam’s passion will definitely add a fresh new chemistry to the panel.”

Hosted by Cat Deeley, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE returns for its seventh season Thursday, May 27 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) with some exciting new twists, including 10 finalists competing and only one dancer eliminated per week. Additionally, the competitors will be partnered each week with a different SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE All-Star dancer – former SYTYCD finalists who are skilled in various styles of dance, including Ballroom, Hip Hop, Jazz and Contemporary. The All-Stars include Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Comfort Fedoke, Courtney Galiano, Anya Garnis, Lauren Gottlieb, Neil Haskell, Allison Holker, Mark Kanemura, Pasha Kovalev, Kathryn McCormick, Ade Obayomi and Dominic “D-trix” Sandoval.

For the new season, producers traveled across the country to Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, New York, Los Angeles and Miami in search of dancers who represent the best in America. Those who shine during auditions are given a ticket to Las Vegas for callbacks, where they work with top choreographers to learn and then be judged on multiple styles of dance.

Mary Murphy is not mentioned in the SYTYCD press release.  Lythgoe had previously said she would return to choreograph and serve as a guest judge.

DWTS: Nicole Back At The Top

| May 10, 2010 at 11:03 PM EDT

This week all the stars had to learn two dances.  With this added pressure we saw some lower scores but Nicole and Derek danced their way back to number 1.

Chad & Cheryl danced both the tango and a 60’s jive with a combined score of 45.  This was low in my opinion because other than hearing about his bad posture and needing to be more polished there wasn’t much criticism from the judges.  Not sure what they have against the “O” man but I enjoyed watching him dance.  The jive was better than the tango and was full of energy and fun to watch while the tango was full of anger and at times leaving Chad with a funny look on his face.

Niecy & Louis danced the Viennese Waltz and a 90’s Paso Doble.  Not real impressed with this lady.  Her paso doble wasn’t good as her arms were flopping all over the place and at times seemed a little out of control.  Her waltz was better and flowed much more smoothly but still not up to par this far along in the competition.  They received a combined score of 43 and are in last place at the moment.  It is time for this lady to go.

Erin and Maks danced the Argentine Tango and an 80’s Rumba.  I loved the tango.  She was on fire and they definitely had the hotness factor so much so that Carrie Ann grabbed Len and kissed his cheek.  Their rumba was ok but not spectacular however the ending was passionate and I love the chemistry she and Maks have together.  One thing about Erin, she has the courage to stand out on that stage and dance alone which I’ve yet to see from the others.  Their combined score was a 53.

Evan and Anna performed the waltz and a futuristic cha cha.  I love Evan and thought his waltz was full of romance and absolutely beautiful.  The judges thought his lines were impeccable.  His cha cha was suppose to be from the future and it was very robotic but in a good way.  They were going for the android look and they nailed it.  I thought it was creative and helped Evan out since his hip action for the Latin routines seem lacking.  Their combined score was 51 again too low in my opinion.

Nicole and Derek are back at number one with the foxtrot and a 1950’s paso doble.  I honestly think it’s a little unfair to have Nicole in the competition since she is a professional dancer even if it’s not this style because there’s nothing this girl can’t do and the fake tears during their video probably gave them some sympathy votes.  Their paso doble earned them a standing ovation and perfects scores from the judges with a total of 59.

Who do you think should go home tomorrow night?

Rounding the clubhouse turn on “The Celebrity Apprentice”

| May 9, 2010 at 11:43 PM EDT

On the heels of reports of the recovery of Bret Michaels and the bigtime ratings surge on “The Celebrity Apprentice”, I was anxiously awaiting my current favorite show! In the end, I asked myself, “What is this? The week that people let their own mouth do them in? 1st Danielle on Survivor, now Cyndi?” I’m sure Holly would have brought up that she picked the red paint and gave approval anyway, but if you’re Cyndi, then let HOLLY say that! I certainly didn’t mind seeing Cyndi leave though! I said before that she was the shows “Thorn in the side”..the person that would just NOT leave, or hear the words, “You’re Fired!” but tonight, that’s exactly what happened!

The episode started with Cyndi once again getting across the gay agenda..Ok, Cyndi, we GET IT!! You love the gays, they love you..wonderful! However, I didn’t like the swipe at potheads Cyndi! LOL..What is that? She downs one cause to benefit hers? Which is a totally different thing, BTW! She’s trying to compare apples and bowling balls!

Trump tells the teams to switch Bret and Curtis, so now Maria and Sharon who’ve openly admitted to not liking Curtis, are forced to work with him! Leave it to Trump huh! He tells them the task and they set off to do their apartments. Right away, Sharon pairs off with Curtis, leaving Maria to do the little things, which kinda surprised me, and this is probably the first thing I’ve seen this season from Sharon, that I didn’t like! Sharon, how rude!!! I actually felt a little bad for Maria!

Sharon and Curtis proceeded to go “shopping” and ended up getting like $140,000 worth of stuff given to them! Go Sharon! LOL..And it was a great idea to call and get help to paint the apartment, but what happened? They came back the next day to find pretty much nothing done!

On Tenacity’s side of the world, Holly appointed Cyndi to one room, basically to keep her occupied and let’s be honest, to keep Cyndi from being a pain in the ass! LOL…Bret had to leave to do a concert, which even though Bret’s my man, I do NOT like when these people keep leaving the show! I don’t think it’s asking too much for these Celebs to clear their schedule while shooting a network show! Geez people! But if no one else gets penalized for leaving, then Bret shouldn’t neither!

He came back, did some grunt labor and the pictures..which to me, his pictures were the highlight of the apartment! I know Cyndi got all kinds of credit, but I think that was just because the rest of the place was so-so..and how funny was that when Sharon predicted Holly’s theme? That rocked!

Enter the boardroom..it was no surprise to me when Rock Solid SLAM dunked a victory! So happy to see Sharon win! Yay! I was also glad to see her say she was wrong about Curtis, and how sometimes she runs her mouth, then has to apologize..see people? THAT’S what someone does when they’re a good person! They admit they were wrong! Is that so hard to do?

After the lovefest known as Rock Solid left the room, it was unbelievably ANOTHER close call for Bret! I’m looking at the screen like WTF? How is he in danger?? Cuz he’s too damn nice! Yep..you can be TOO nice sometimes! They should all know by now, Trump is the ultimate instigator! And I thought I was going to have to lose my mind if Bret got fired! It had to be Cyndi or Holly! That was an easy one between those two! Bret had to get a little heated at the end, and brought up the main point that Cyndi did one room, while they did four or five!

But once again, the rocker Bret, is under the gun..and SHUTUP Mr. Corporate America over there, “Oh I’d fire Bret, blah blah blah”..yeah you would Mr. suit and tie guy!! Typical! When the dust settled, it was Cyndi doing the backseat confessional..asking, “We’ll see how they do without me”..Umm, I think they’ll do just FINE without you Cyndi!

In closing, we seen the previews from next week..as with all the spring time reality shows, this one’s coming to a close! Next week will start with an immediate firing! The remaining four, will be interviewed by Joan Rivers and Bill Rancic, then Trump will fire two more and we’ll have our final two..Can the Bret Michaels express keep rolling?

The Amazing Race: And the winner is…

| May 9, 2010 at 10:49 PM EDT

I’m so disappointed in this race.  Is there anyone out there who didn’t think the Cowboys would win?  After winning the vast majority of each legs the cowboys came in second.

The teams are at the airport waiting to head to San Francisco.  Dan and Jordan broke in front of the cowboys which put them closer to the front of the plane, a definite advantage.  They make a smart move while on the plane and ask a stewardess to allow them into first class which she does.  This allows them to be the first ones off the plane and they manage to stay one step ahead of the others the whole way through.  Even if they hadn’t broke in line they still would have been in the lead with this move so even though I wasn’t pulling for them, they bring it.

The final task was a memory challenge.  The teams have 11 psychedelic posters with eliminated players and non elimination legs that they must put in order.  Jordan knew this was coming since he has been a faithful watcher of the show and has been writing all this stuff down.  They easily put the posters up in the correct order and solve the riddle of Candlestick Park and are on their way to the pit stop.

Third place was Brent and Caite who had a cabby that didn’t know the way to the first clue.  Caite was incredibly rude to this man and I felt so sorry for him.  She was also the dumbass who left their money behind and they had to turn around to get it.  Definitely didn’t deserve to win.  She and the lesbian couple exchanged words at the final pit stop.  I think Carol and Brandy were sore losers.

The Cowboys came in second and played an awesome game.  They had positive attitudes the entire way and overcame some amazing odds including coming from last place to first within one leg.  They may not have won the million but they came out with their integrity in place.

Dan and Jordan are the million dollar winners.  They may have pulled some tricks to get there but they did it.  Congrats!

Rupert’s trick works..Danielle talks herself out of the game!

| May 7, 2010 at 11:13 AM EDT

You gotta give it to Rupert! The guy loves the game! Love him or hate him, the guy pulled a fast one! Some players would have given up at that point, thinking about what they’re going to eat later that night, instead of how to “Survive” the game!

Rupert’s trick of throwing the rock in his pocket absolutely worked! It was like dangling a steak in front of a tiger..Russell couldn’t fall for it any faster! ! LOL..I think it threw Russell for a loop, took the heat off Rupert, and in the end, Candice walked the ramp out of the game at Tribal council #1 because of it!

Isn’t that a cool thing to see? I think it was a crucial mistake for Candice last week not to side with the Heroes and tonight because of Ruperts trick, she paid hard! Again, sweet move Rupert..even if it was done out of pure frustration on his part!

I liked the 2nd challenge more than the 1st..you can get a really good recap from Ashley and her blog Survivor 20 :Episode Recap 12 at Survivor Fandom!

I thought the 2nd challenge was pretty cool, and I was surprised to see Russell win it, but not too shocked..It doesn’t seem like he’s in danger too much anymore, but the immunity necklace etches that in stone..at least for this week!

The alliance of Russell, Parvati, and Danielle started taking a nose dive..I thought it was hilarious when Russell was trying to convince Parvati not to tell Danielle and she wasn’t going for it! It’s not many times when people go against Russell like that..usually they fall for it and his tactics work! A true bucking of the heads!

In the end, it did work in his favor but I give a lot of the credit for that to Danielle herself! For not handling the situation, and basically falling apart, instead of sticking to her guns..so much for her “aggressive” gameplay huh Russell? lol..

She let her emotions get the best of her and made a classic mistake in Survivor by taking it personal, rather than staying focused on her game! That’s Survivor 101, no? I think she did do some damage to Russell, but way more damage to herself..too bad someone couldn’t have put their hand over her mouth, like her flame that got snuffed! See ya Danielle!

Next week it looks like maybe the boys team up..If so, will that really work?
