American Idol: More Cheesy Songs To Come

| May 6, 2010 at 11:38 AM EDT

Next week’s theme for American Idol Season 9 is songs from the movies with Jamie Foxx as mentor.  Instead of allowing the contestants to sing some of the more current soundtracks, we have more ballads and a crappy list from the 80’s.  Even Purple Rain would have been better than this shit.  None of the rock songs from ‘The Twilight’ films is included which isn’t very surprising but come on, anything would have been better than these 34.  What about songs from “Crazy Heart”?  Casey would have done Jeff Bridges proud.

  • (Everything I Do) I Do It For You – Bryan Adams
  • (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life – Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes
  • A Whole New World – Brad Kane & Lea Salonga
  • Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In – The 5th Dimension
  • Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do) – Christopher Cross
  • Beauty and the Beast – Celine Dion & Peabo Bryson
  • Can I Have This Dance – Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron & the Cast of HS Musical
  • Can You Feel the Love Tonight – Elton John & London Community Gospel Choir
  • Can’t Fight the Moonlight – LeAnn Rimes
  • Danger Zone – Kenny Loggins
  • Don’t You Forget About Me – Simple Minds
  • Endless Love – Lionel Richie & Diana Ross
  • Evergreen – Barbra Streisand
  • Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
  • Flashdance (What a Feeling) – Irene Cara
  • Footloose – Kenny Loggins
  • Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman – Bryan Adams
  • I’m Alright (Theme from Caddyshack) – Kenny Loggins
  • Into the West – Howard Shore and Annie Lennox
  • Iris – Goo Goo Dolls
  • It Might Be You (from Tootsie) – Stephen Bishop
  • Kiss From a Rose – Seal
  • Let the Riverrun – Carly Simon
  • Moon River (from Moon River) – Audrey Hepburn & Henry Mancini
  • Mrs Robinson – Simon & Garfunkle
  • My Heart Will Go On – Celine Dion
  • One Night Only – Jennifer Hudson, Deena Jones & The Dreams
  • Over the Rainbow – Judy Garland
  • Separate Lives – Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin
  • Summertime – Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong
  • Take My Breath Away (Love Theme from Top Gun) – Berlin
  • Up Where We Belong – Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes
  • We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome) – Tina Turner
  • You’ll Be in My Heart – Glenn Close & Phil Collins

Which songs would you pick for the Top 4 and what songs do you wish were included in the list?

ABC Reveals New Bachelorette Info

| May 5, 2010 at 8:37 PM EDT

Ali Fedotowsky’s quest to find a husband will begin May 24 and take her around the world.  ABC revealed the new bachelorette will travel to Hollywood, Las Vegas, New York, Iceland, Istanbul, Lisbon and Tahiti.  Wow!  That’s a lot of traveling.  The budget for this season must have been huge to accommodate all this.

She will meet her 25 admirers in Malibu where we will see an outdoorsman, a skier who does a backflip off the limousine and another who immediately proposes.  Once they are in the mansion the showing off for her attention begins.  We will hear some singing with a little ukulele playing.  She will get a salsa dance lesson and have a song sung to her.  One guy rips his shirt open to show his wrestler abs and a country guy gives her a wooden necklace while another made her a scrapbook.  Good Lord, can we say cheesy??

Ali will give out a first impression rose and the guys get to vote for one they don’t feel is right for her and one guy receives an overwhelming number.  Expect tensions to rise and tempers to flare.  The premier will conclude with Ali choosing 17 of the 25.

Some dates in the United States will include concerts by Jamie Cullum, The Barenaked Ladies, and Joshua Radim and the Harlem Boys Choir as well as seeing the broadway musical The Lion King.

Other memorable dates will include taking a helicopter ride over Iceland’s volcano that erupted a few days after they left.  Watching the guys battle with olive oil wrestlers in Istanbul, and a romantic evening in a castle in Lisbon.  The remaining 3 will travel for overnight dates in Tahiti.

I wonder if Ali will wear her hair up the entire season or let it down every once in a while?  I don’t think I’ve ever seen it down  Are you ready for this season of The Bachelorette?

Pamela Anderson eliminated from DWTS..No more “Big 3”!

| May 5, 2010 at 7:16 AM EDT

It’s really no surprise to see the blond bombshell Pamela Anderson be voted off DWTS. The only surprise to me is that Pamela went before Niecy! I thought for sure it was Niecy’s night to go! Not that I dislike her or anything, I just thought she deserved to go more than anyone else.

With the exit of Pamela, so goes the “Big 3” of Kate, Jake and Pamela! ABC’s gotta be bummin, yes? LOL..They shouldn’t be!

One thing’s for sure..the dancing on this weeks show was the best so far this season! IMO anyway..I didn’t see anyone do lousy Monday night, in fact I think they all did their part to raise the bar! Up until then, I think this season has been so so! Too bad it’s taken so long to get it kicked in gear!

I don’t miss Kate or Jake one bit! In fact, I’m glad to see both of them gone! I’ve bashed Kate into dust on more than one occasion, so I won’t get into that again, but at this stage of the show, it’s all about the rehearsal! All about that hard work, all about pulling it together, working out the bugs and rounding the clubhouse turn for a strong finish down the stretch!

I said it before, but I think we’re headed for a Evan vs. Nicole finale! I know it’s 3 couples that compete in the finale, but whoever that 3rd couple is, doesn’t stand a chance against either Nicole/Derek or Evan/Anna! I think those 2 are the best by far, with Erin and now Chad in the next tier down..I expect to see Niecy leave next week for sure, despite that she seems to be the fan fav this season.

Tuesday’s results show had a performance from Train(They do an awesome Aerosmith cover if you haven’t heard it..Pat Monahan can sing his ass off, even if I’m not a huge Train fan!) and a dance performance by the stars of Cirque du Soleil’s “Viva Elvis” show, which wasn’t too bad!

Five celebrities remain in contention: Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek, Singer Nicole Scherzinger, Sportscaster Erin Andrews, Actress Niecy Nash, and Football star Chad Ochocinco.

Kate Gosselin, Jake Pavelka, Aiden Turner, Buzz Aldrin, and Shannen Doherty were eliminated on previous episodes.

The remaining contestants will all perform two dances on Monday. The entire spring cast is expected to perform on the season’s final episodes, May 24 and 25.

DWTS: Top 6 Couples Recap

| May 3, 2010 at 9:31 PM EDT

A great show tonight!  We had our first perfect score of the season, the team dances started with a cha cha challenge, and all the couples stepped it up with their technique.

First up was Erin and Maks with the quickstep and I have to say, I love this lady.  She receives death threats from a psycho stalker and still comes on week after week and gives it her all.  I have so much respect for her and she is definitely in it to win it.  Len says it was Erin’s best performance; Bruno thought it was brilliant and Carrie Ann said it was gorgeous.  They received all 9’s from the judges.

Chad and Cheryl dance the Viennese Waltz and Cheryl brought in Tony Dovolani to help with Chad’s technique and it paid off for the football star who was so smooth and elegant.  Bruno couldn’t believe Chad was so gentle and graceful; Carrie Ann said there’s nothing sexier than a man finding out how to be tender and Len thinks this is the night he became a contender.  They all thought he needed to work on his arm extensions.  Carrie and Bruno scored him an 8 and Len a 9.  Today is Cheryl’s birthday and she was sporting a new diamond necklace given to her by Chad.  Something is definitely going on with these two because you can feel the chemistry between them through the television screen.

Nicole and Derek danced the waltz and for the first time this season I got chills.  It was absolutely beautiful.  Carrie Ann said Nicole was by far the best dancer they’ve ever had but she felt the connection wasn’t quite there; Len loved the routine and performance but had a couple little technical issues and Bruno thought she was close to dancing royalty but had a few little mistakes.  They are awarded all 9’s from the judges.

Pamela and Damien dance the waltz and once again Pamela surprises me.  They have awesome chemistry and the dance was very romantic.  Her ability to “play” all her roles in these dances is atonishing to me.  Len says a very tough dance and you need to work on firming up your upper body; Bruno thought it was pure and demure and Carrie Ann thought she made huge improvements on her legs.  They receive all 8’s.

Niecy and Louis perform the quickstep.  I thought there was no way Niecy would get all those steps but she did it.  Still there was something lacking for me, maybe it was all a little slow or something.  I can’t put my finger on it but all the judges thought it was her best dance to date.  Len and Bruno gave them an 8 and Carrie Ann gave them a 9.

Evan and Anna closed with the Argentine Tango and it was amazing.  Evan really had the character down and took charge of the dance for the first time.  They receive a standing ovation.  Carrie Ann says Evan has the eye of the tiger; so sexy and refined.  Len thought it was fantastic and Bruno said he danced like a true alpha male.  They are given the first perfect score of the season, all 10’s.

The cha cha challenge starts with Team Ga Ga who is Pamela, Nicole and Chad.  This team oozes sex and they don’t disappoint with this dance.  Pamela was the weak link and Nicole was by far the best but they all did good with the group part and were given all 9’s from the judges.

Team Madonna was much less sexy and more cute.  You could tell they were having fun with the routine and Erin was definitely the best of the three.  Evan needs help with the hip action and Niecy was all spice and shaking her tail feather.  They were a little out of sync in the group part and were awarded all 8’s from the judges so Team Ga Ga won the challenge.

Who do you think is in danger of going home tomorrow?  I’m thinking we will say goodbye to Pamela.

The Bret Michaels express keeps rolling!

| May 3, 2010 at 12:46 AM EDT

Rock Solid and the Bret Michaels express keeps rolling! Despite it being a little weird knowing Bret’s still in the hospital fighting for his life, it was good to see him win!

This was an incredibly hard task! 3 commercials would be tough, but live? It’s a different thing in the studio..you have to be on your game! Many great, talented artists fall apart in the studio doing their tracks..you’d be shocked to hear how many “takes” some songs take to get done from some, so I give both teams credit for pulling it off live, even though Tenacity’s commercials were dry as unbuttered popcorn!

I was surprised that Trump didn’t bring up Bret’s sabotaging the other team by turning the signs around! That Bret’s a gamer!

The boardroom wasn’t too vicious, and efforts to get Curtis and Summer at each others throats didn’t get off the ground, although Sharon and Maria didn’t mind slamming Curtis! A little mean but funny! Maria is my kinda girl!

In the end, it was Summer fired..scenes from next week, show one of the best all time reality tv teams, gets disbanded! Obviously to get that spark between Curtis, Sharon and Maria going..too bad, I would have loved to see the current Rock Solid roll right along!

Keep your fingers crossed for Bret!
