Meet the ‘Top Chef All-Stars’ cast

| November 26, 2010 at 4:48 PM EST

The eighth season of Bravo’s Emmy-winning “Top Chef” will feature 18 familiar faces. It’s a season of all-stars, which means the contestants are all former contestants from the previous seven seasons. And we’ve got the run-down (and photo above) here:

Elia Aboumrad; Season two, final four

Stephen Asprinio; Season one, top five

Richard Blais; Season four finalist

Jennifer Carroll; Season six, final four

Tiffany Derry; Season seven, top five

Tiffani Faison; Season one finalist

Carla Hall; Season five finalist

Mike Isabella; Season six, top seven

Jamie Lauren; Season five, top seven

Dale Levitski; Season three finalist

Antonia Lofaso; Season four, final four

Spike Mendelsohn; Season four, top five

Angelo Sosa; Season seven finalist

Dale Talde; Season four, top six

Casey Thompson; Season three finalist and fan favorite

Marcel Vigneron; Season two finalist

Fabio Viviani; Season five final four and fan favorite

Tre Wilcox; Season three, top eight

That’s quite a list. Even though there could be some great surprises, I’m going to make a final two prediction now. It would be amazing to see Marcel and Richard Blais battle it out. They both should have won their seasons, so it’ll be interesting to see if one of them can pull it off now.

Top Chef Just Desserts crowns its first winner

| November 17, 2010 at 11:22 PM EST

The first season of Bravo’s “Top Chef Just Desserts” came to a close Wednesday night as they crowned the show’s first-ever winner.

Yigit Pura, 29, of San Francisco prevailed against front runner Morgan Wilson and underdog Danielle Keene. Yigit won $100,000 and a Buick Regal.

The finale came after a tumultuous season of breakdowns, ejections and voluntary exits. For the final challenge, Gail Simmons asks the chefs to take the judges and some esteemed guests on a progressive, four-course dessert tasting journey. They can make anything they want.

Before the challenge starts, the chefs meet up with head chef Johnny Iuzzini at a hot Los Angeles club. They try some apparently amazing desserts and Johnny reveals the chefs who made them are renowned chefs Sherry Yard, Elizabeth Falkner and Claudia Flemming. He also tells them the three women will serve as their sous chefs for the final challenge.

The chefs draw cookies to decide which sous chefs they’ll be working with. Yigit is paired with Sherry, Danielle is with Elizabeth and Morgan gets Claudia. Lucky Claudia…

Yigit and Danielle seem to be working fine with their sous chefs, but there’s no surprise that the same can’t be said for Morgan. He’s completely disrespectful to Claudia and I’m embarrassed for him. I’m sitting at home alone watching and even I’m embarrassed. He should be ashamed of himself.

On top of his rudeness to her, he’s continuing his cocky manner and has absolutely no doubt he’s going to win. Speaking of Morgan being a jerk, he really shines in the next twist. When Gail reveals that for day two, the new sous chefs will be previously eliminated contestants. One of the options is Zac and Morgan makes it known to the camera that he doesn’t want to work with that “fairy.”

Lucky for Zac, Morgan picks Heather H. (which had great drama potential itself but nothing happened). Yigit is paired with Tim and Danielle chooses Tania. Too bad wacky Seth didn’t make it back!

The chefs put out some apparently great food. I’d review that food if, you know, I got to taste it. But since I didn’t, I can’t really talk about it. It sounds like everyone is being judged pretty equally. It sounds like Danielle might really win! No wait, it’ll be Yigit. Nope. Wait. It’s Morgan. Or is it? Nope. Wow, before Gail announces the winner, there’s no way to predict it.

Yigit wins. And that’s awesome. That’s who viewers wanted to win (according to the text vote) and that’s who I wanted to win. Even though it would have been hilarious is Danielle had crawled from the very bottom all the way to the top, but I think Yigit is deserving.

What did you think? Happy Yigit won? If not, who would you have preferred?

Man shoots TV over Bristol Palin on ‘Dancing With The Stars’

| November 17, 2010 at 12:28 PM EST

According to multiple sources, a 67-year-old Wisconsin man was so angry over Bristol Palin’s poor performances on “Dancing With The Stars” that he shot his television set with a shotgun. The incident lead to an overnight standoff with police.

Police say the man, Steven Cowan, said Palin was “not a good dancer and was only on the show because of her famous mother.” And he has a point. The stories are painting Cowan as a crazy person, but he sounds pretty sane to me. She shouldn’t still be on the show. And even on last night’s results show, she mad it into the finals. Actually, I think she never should have been on the show. She wasn’t even a “star.” All she was known for was being an unwed teenage mother of a vice-presidential candidate. OK, I’m going to stop now.

I’m just worried that if she wins the show, there are going to be a lot of TVs shot to death.

Watch Atlanta ‘housewife’ Kandi Burruss perform ‘Leave U’

| November 8, 2010 at 5:28 PM EST

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Kandi Burruss (also known as the only cast member with legitimate talent) has a new video out for her single “Leave U” and you can see it here.

It’s not exactly my cup of tea. It’s just too slow. I like her older dance stuff. But there’s no denying her talent. What do you think of it?

‘Project Runway’ Season 8 finale recap: And the winner is…

| October 28, 2010 at 10:12 PM EDT

Gretchen Jones reacts to winning “Project Runway.”

“Project Runway” fans likely all took a collective sigh of disgust tonight as Gretchen Jones took home the title of Season 8 winner.

Fan favorite Mondo Guerra finished second. Andy South third.

The judges, including guest judge Jessica Simpson, were torn between Gretchen and Mondo. They were (allegedly) split down the middle. Nina Garcia and Michael Kors were for Gretchen. Heidi Klum and Jessica Simpson were for Mondo.

Who knows what the deciding factor was (especially since Heidi is an executive producer), but I know I’m not happy. And I’m sure a lot of you aren’t happy either. Please start a discussion here. Share your thoughts. Let it out.
