I was shocked when Malaya Watson ended up in the bottom three last week on American Idol 2014, as she has been one of my favorites on American Idol Season 13. I love her personality and spunk, but do agree that she did not have the best performance last week. Well, Malaya made up for it big time last night on American Idol 2014, as they straightened her hair and calmed her down by putting her behind the piano for this performance in the Top 12 on American Idol 2014! American Idol 2014 Spoilers - Top 12 Malaya Watson

She sings “Take Me To The King” by Tamela Mann. She misses home and school and band, but she likes where she is at too! She said she does not want to be in the bottom three this week and singing this song and taking it back to the piano. I feel like she did take us to the king and she showed off her vocals and it was a very strong performance.


Keith Urban said that is a beautiful song and great choice and it encompassed the vulnerability in her voice. Jennifer Lopez said she got goosies all over and was with her from the very first moment she opened her mouth. Harry Connick, Jr. said this felt very focused, but the message was there and he is very proud of her.
