We have another night of performance on American Idol 2014, as the Top 12 on American Idol Season 13 are taking the stage to perform for your votes! Things have just begun on American Idol 2014 and we are still months away from finding out the winner of American Idol Season 13, but every week until that American Idol 2014 finale matters. The American Idol judges 2014 (Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr.) will be giving their critiques and we will have the performance videos from tonight in our American Idol 2014 Top 12 Performances Spoilers Live Recap below!

For the Top 12, it looks like they are taking on the theme of “Home” this week on American Idol 2014. What does this mean? It could mean anything, as the singers could pick songs that remind them of home or the song came from their home state or it is a song they grew up listening to. The songs are endless and that is why I love it. No more short list of songs to choose from or it has to be a Burt Bacharach song.

Here we go…everyone is in place and we have the banter going on, but time for the Top 12 to take the stage and perform!

Jena Irene – She sings “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall. She said she remembers listening to this song while on car rides with her Mom and brother. It reminds her of home. I don’t know what the hell she is wearing tonight, but I am thinking this song is too fast for her voice. I love the rasp in her voice, but it seems to be holding her back on this one and I am not as impressed by her tonight!

Alex Preston – He sings “I Don’t Want To Be” by Gavin DeGraw. He grew up in a small town, but thinks it was the best town to grow up in. I just love this guy’s voice. He has his own style and this song fits right into it. He is very confident on stage and he has such a unique voice and I am a fan!

Jessica Meuse – She sings “White Flag” by Dido. She said she misses animals a lot, especially cows. She said she has included this song in her set for years and years and it came out when she came into her own and didn’t care what people think. She has a unique sound to her voice and it is growing on me. I am not sure about this one and it sounded pitchy at times, but a good song choice.

Dexter Roberts – He sings “Lucky Man” by Montgomery Gentry. He said he wouldn’t be here without his fans and family from home. He misses his dogs! This song reminds him of home and he wanted to mellow it out tonight. We all know that Dexter is that country singer and he shows that in this song and he does slow it down, but I like it!

Emily Piriz – She sings “Let’s Get Loud” by Jennifer Lopez. After getting a special video message from her boyfriend, who is in the Marines. How can you sing after getting that emotional message? Taking on a judges’ song is a big one, so we shall see. Emily is the type of singer that wants to be pop and have fun up there, but the songs are always bigger than her. She needs to slow down and just sing. Not impressed!

Caleb Johnson – He sings “Working Man” by Rush. He comes from a town that is a mini little Austin, Texas. He said Rush was a big part of school when he was younger and listened to it all the time and excited to sing it on American Idol 2014. I think he is a great rocker and this was a great performance. He is a very strong performer, but will the rock get old on this show?

MK Nobilette – She sings “Drops Of Jupiter” by Train. She said she grew up with this song and it makes her feel like home in San Francisco. She talks about her crazy family, which is big and diverse and I love it! Believe me, I want to love this girl, but her voice is not that strong. I think she won us over with her story at the beginning, but her voice is different, but she is not picking good song choices.

CJ Harris – He sings “Waiting On The World To Change” by John Mayer. He said everyone is supporting him back at home in Alabama. He said there is still an issue in Alabama and he is hoping to show that with this song choice. I think it was a good performance from CJ and he connected with the lyrics, but nothing stellar about it.

Sam Woolf – He sings “Just One” by Blind Pilot. He said living with his grandparents is better and his grandpa is with him here. This song he remembers listening to with his friends in Michigan and driving up to camp and having it on repeat. I think he has a really great voice and will win over the votes from the girls, but this was a little slow for me.

Malaya Watson – She sings “Take Me To The King” by Tamela Mann. She misses home and school and band, but she likes where she is at too! She said she does not want to be in the bottom three this week and singing this song and taking it back to the piano. I feel like she did take us to the king and she showed off her vocals and it was a strong performance.

Malaya Watson, Top 12 ~ American Idol 2014 by HumanSlinky

Ben Briley – He sings “Turning Home” by David Nail. He said the song is about reminiscing about your hometown and first love. He said his family is humungous and he is here because they all voted for him! He is a simple guy from a simple town and it is something he is proud of. Talk about feeling the lyrics! This was an awesome performance and I am becoming a bigger and bigger Ben fan every week on American Idol 2014!

Majesty Rose – She sings “Fix You” by Coldplay. She is a preschool teacher and is missing those kids back at home! This is a song she listened to as a teenager and sang it a lot back home. She was a struggling teen and this brought her hope. This was a great performance and very strong and powerful and she looked great!
