Former “Survivor” Producer gets new show!
| May 21, 2010 at 9:59 AM EDTEven as a person of interest in his wife’s murder, and not being able to leave Mexico while it’s still under investigation, Former Survivor producer, Bruce Beresford-Redman’s new show for The CW network, will be part of the 2010-2011 season!
Beresford-Redman and his partner, Rick Hurvitz, pitched a show to the CW called “Shedding for the Wedding,” a weight-loss reality show featuring couples who compete to lose weight for their wedding(s). Which BTW, I know the weight loss thing is huge these days, and this show will probably get some nice ratings..but come on! Are you kidding me with this?
Supposedly, Hurvitz ended his partnership with Beresford-Redman after the murder, but their company which sold the show – Mindcrime, Inc.- is still an active California corporation.
Alllegedly Joy Pierce, the woman with whom Beresford-Redman allegedly had the affair at the time his wife was murdered was the casting director who helped sell the show!
The CW announced “Shedding for the Wedding” will be part of the 2010-11 season. In addition to Beresford-Redman and Hurvitz, David Broome of 25/7 Productions is an executive producer. Beresford-Redman will remain a profit participant, but only if he can perform his duties as an executive producer, meaning, he has to come back to the U.S. when the show is being produced. Beresford-Redman will NOT be listed as an executive producer in the credits.
I’m just kind of tripping about this because I’ve been following the case since I heard “Survivor producer suspected in his wife’s death”…I was like WHAT?? Turns out it’s a FORMER Survivor producer, he also produced MTV’s “Pimp My Ride” but yes, he is indeed suspected in the murder of his wife Monica Beresford-Redman! I’ve been wanting to write about this, but I was waiting for an arrest, so far that hasn’t happened.
If you believe what’s being reported, it’s not looking too good for BB-R! Here’s the story in a nutshell..allegedly of course..
Bruce has an affair with casting director Joy Pierce. Monica found out that Bruce was seeing someone, had proof that he was cheating and he admitted it. She contemplated a divorce, but Bruce talked her out of filing. He persuaded her to cancel a birthday trip to her home country of Brazil to go with him to Cancun “to work it out.” Her murdered body is later found in a sewer drainage outside the hotel the Beresford Redman’s were staying at in Mexico.
Bruce claims he last seen his wife when she left to go shopping, although hotel guests report the couple arguing the night before..police say he had defensive wounds, including scratch marks. He’s ordered to surrender his passport and remain in Mexico pending the investigation and hires Eduardo Amerena, the criminal lawyer who successfully defended Duane “Dog” Chapman back in 2007.
His 2 kids are flown back to L.A., where there’s a trial coming up to determine who gets custody until the matter’s resolved in Mexico. The kids are currently with Bruce’s parents..Monica’s family gets limited visitation but wants full custody.
Recently, BB-R’s emails were released showing his admitted affair, where he seemed to ping-pong back and forth..one email he’s gushing all over Joy, the next he’s telling her how it’s over and he wants to fix his marriage. Who knows the guy’s true intentions..one things for sure..something went wrong down in Cancun! And I DON’T think it’s cuz she went missing going shopping!
Rumors are flying that if charged, BB-R plans to use the “blame the victim” strategy and claim his wife was cheating on him. Looks like he might be in “Survivor” mode, yes?
Also, it makes you wonder just WHAT is going on behind the scenes on these TV shows? It seems like one SCANDAL after another lately! Now we have one that starts with a producer and a casting director having an affair and ends in murder! It makes me wanna see behind the curtain! Maybe THAT’S where the real drama is!!
