We got the chance to meet the eight new teams on The Great Food Truck Race Season 5 last night and Tyler Florence sent them on their first challenge and the teams were struggling with their new trucks, but who went home on Great Food Truck Race 2014 last night? Last night on The Great Food Truck Race Season 5, the teams got to see their new trucks and what they actually have a chance of winning this season, well along with the $50,000! The trucks were cool and were inspired by what the teams told them. They all loved them and the fun began!

The teams had to make three signature dishes with a budget of $200. They were not happy with such a small starting amount, but they all made it work and started serving the people in Santa Barbara. Chatty Chicken was making fried chicken, but did not buy enough oil to fill their fryer. Instead, they fried it in a pan and that took them way longer than normal to properly cook it.

For the second day, the teams headed to Venice Beach, which is the hometown of Beach Cruiser, so they definitely had an advantage in this one. Chatty Chicken decided to go to the store first and get more oil. They first forgot the till, so had no money. They run back and get it and come back to store and find out the daughter forgot her purse, which had the key to the till box! They go back and get that and get their oil and then can’t light the pilot light for the fryer! They make a grilled chicken instead, which they should have done from the beginning instead of wasting all the time on oil!

Because of all that time wasted and not selling, Chatty Chicken has the lowest amount of money in their till and they were eliminated (and only down $60 from the seventh place team, so they could have been safe without the oil catastrophe)!
