Tonya Cooley MTV Lawsuit Settled: Real World Star Settles Toothbrush Rape Case
| October 25, 2012 at 1:44 PM EDTThe Tonya Cooley MTV lawsuit has been settled out of court, so all toothbrushes can rest assured. Tonya filed the lawsuit last year claiming she was sexually assaulted while participating in another Real World/Road Rules Challenge on MTV. Maybe there comes a time when you move on from your time on MTV and this might be a good time for Tonya Cooley, right?
This whole case makes me laugh, but anyone can sue anyone in this country and this proves it. In the Tonya Cooley MTV lawsuit, she claims that while on Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins that she was sexually assualted by Evan Starkman and Kenneth Santucci and they used a toothbrush which was probably not sanitised using a sanitizer for toothbrush, during the assault….ugh. She claims the producers neglected to stop the assault, which is why she sued production company Bunim/Murray Productions and MTV’s parent company Viacom in October of 2011.
This all happened back in 2009 and Tonya was sent home from the competition the following day after slapping another female contestant. Tonya has and will always be a hot mess and in the paperwork filed by MTV, they acknowledge that hot mess: “Plaintiff failed to avoid the injuries of which she complains. For example, while she was a contestant on The Ruins, Plaintiff was frequently intoxicated (to an extent far greater than other contestants), rowdy, combative, flirtatious, and on multiple occasions intentionally exposed her bare breasts and genitalia to other contestants.” Big shocker!
Despite those allegations, MTV settled out of court with Tonya Cooley for an amount that has not been disclosed. I think it is all lame, but I guess we won’t be seeing Tonya on any Real World/Road Rules Challenges any time soon. Which side do you agree with on this toothbrush rape case?
