The X Factor USA 2013 Top 8 Performances Spoilers Recap (VIDEO)
| November 27, 2013 at 7:00 PM ESTThings are moving along quickly (or so it seems) on The X Factor USA 2013 and we are getting ready to see the Top 8 on The X Factor USA Season 3 take the stage tonight and perform for our votes one more time. It is another double elimination this week on The X Factor 2013, as two more acts will not be thankful and head home on Thanksgiving! Before that happens though, we get to see the performances from The X Factor Season 3 Top 8. Follow along with us and see the performance videos below in our The X Factor USA 2013 Top 8 Performances Spoilers Recap!
Last week on The X Factor USA 2013, the Top 10 took the stage for British Invasion Week and another two acts were sent home. One right away (Khaya Cohen) and then a sing-off took place between Carlos Olivero and Tim Olstad, both part of the Boys Category. The judges voted and they sent home Tim Olstad and Carlos moved on to the Top 8 on The X Factor Season 3! I thought Tim was going to be eliminated a couple weeks ago, so he should be proud of how far he made it.
For tonight, the Top 8 take on songs from the Big Band era, which means it is time to take a nap during these boring performances, right? Maybe they will prove me wrong!

***************************************************************
Here we go…to kick off Big Band night, we have a special performance by Michael Buble. He has such a great voice and has that old school voice, so can these singers tonight make it work in 2013 like he does?
Rion Paige (Girls) – “Swingin'” by John Anderson
This is the first time that Rion has performed with a live band. It is also the first time she has choreography, which is a no brainer for anyone on Demi Lovato’s team. She dedicates this performance to her mother, who has done so much for her. I was a little worried about this one when it first started, but it turned out pretty good. She is much better on the slower, emotional songs because she connects so well with the lyrics, but it was good to see her have fun on that stage and act like a 13-year-old girl!
Restless Road (Groups) – “Life Is A Highway” by Rascal Flatts
Simon Cowell said that we have to remember they have only been together for a few weeks and it is much better to do this as an individual than as a group. The lady judges were not happy with the boys last week, so they know they have to up their game tonight. It may be Big Band Night, but Simon chooses a country song for them. First of all, this is the most stupid song choice ever. It doesn’t even fit the theme of the night, so how is Simon allowed to do that? Second, this was a terrible song choice. The guys did not sound good at all and this was rough to watch. They seriously need to go home because looks won’t sell records!
Jeff Gutt (Over 25s) – “Feeling Good” by Michael Buble
Simon asked him last week why he has not made it this far and it really struck a cord with Jeff. He is dedicating this performance to his Dad, who makes a special appearance to support him this week! While I think the song choices have not been great so far on The X Factor USA 2013 tonight, that changes with Jeff! This was a great song choice and he does such a good job with this one. He takes on Michael Buble and he puts his rocker touch on it and I loved this one!
Josh Levi (Boys) – “Treasure” by Bruno Mars
Kelly Rowland said that he needs to explore his freedom on that stage. His Grandma has been a rock for Josh and he says this will be the first Thanksgiving without her. She surprises him with a visit and now he thinks this will be his best performance yet, as he will be singing to her 200%. He does have that stage presence down now, but I was not liking the vocals as much tonight. I think it was just a karaoke version of the song with some dance moves in there and trying to work it with the girls in the audience, even though he clearly wants to work it with the boys!
Carlito Olivero (Boys) – “Cup Of Life” by Ricky Martin
He finished in the bottom two last week on The X Factor 2013 and he felt like America hates him and he is letting everyone down. His parents are his biggest inspiration and he is dedicating this one to them. Paulina Rubio chooses a Latin song for him, but he thinks it still has that Big Band feel to it. This was a wise choice for Carlito also. He sounds sexy and great when he works the Latin lyrics into his performances and this allowed that. He looked great in those leather pants too and maybe he just worked himself out of that bottom two???
Alex & Sierra (Groups) – “I Knew You Were Trouble” by Taylor Swift
Sierra got some criticism last week and she has only been seriously singing for about a year, so she took it hard. She feels like the weak link, so to take her mind off of that he gets a picnic together and they go out and spend some time away from the competition. The fact that I can hear them sing and know that the song is familiar to me, but I can’t figure out the artist is amazing. They take the song and make it completely different and this was another great performance from them. They both sounded great and I think they improved on their mistakes from last week!
Lillie McCloud (Over 25s) – “Summertime” by Ella Fitzgerald
Lillie got some great reviews from the judges last week on The X Factor USA 2013. She is dedicating this performance to her fiance. He has helped her find herself and get out of relationships where she was mentally and physically abused. Kelly thinks the song choice is insane and this is going to crazy! Whenever I hear this song, I have to compare it to Fantasia Barrino and when she won American Idol. Fantasia knocked it out of the park on that one and Lillie did just as well. The emotional part was not as great as Fantasia, but those vocals are beyond amazing!
Ellona Santiago (Girls) – “Mamma Knows Best” by Jessie J
Simon said she was like a singing, dancing puppet last week and now Ellona wants to prove him wrong this week. Her sister has been her biggest fan and supporter and has always been there for her. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and just wants to be there for her. I will give it up to Ellona and this was a great performance…if she was on Broadway. Some people are great singers and should be on Broadway showing off their talent. The type of performer Ellona is and this performance shows she should be on Broadway. Simon said that is what we call a game changer, but she has to lose the dancers next week if she is still here.
Final Face Off (Top 8) – “Cry Me A River” by Justin Timberlake
The Top 8 on The X Factor USA 2013 will have a face off. They will all take the stage and sing together as a group. They are mentored by Michael Buble for this performance, which is so cool for them. They each have a couple lines to show America another reason to vote for them. They are head-to-head and standing next to each other. This performance was nothing special and pretty much a waste of time if they want to consider it for voting. Also, the show could not afford more clothes for these performers? They all have to wear the same thing???
That is it for the performances tonight on The X Factor USA Season 3. Who are you voting for?
