That is right. One of these singing competitions is finally going live after rounds of auditions and Four Chair Challenges on The X Factor Season 3. It has been so long since The X Factor USA 2013 has aired, last time we found out who the Top 16 finally were. The producers got rid of the Bootcamp this season and the Judges’ House round and instead gave us the Four Chair Challenge. Each category started with ten acts and only four chairs available. No one was safe until the final act took the stage. I loved the new, even though some people said it was cruel and mean. I guess I like that???
Tonight the Top 16 will all perform and we get to vote when it is all said and done! We finally get a say, so follow along with our recap starting soon!

***************************************************************
Here we go…I guess we won’t be voting for the singers tonight, but we are live! The categories will each sing and the judges get to pick which three will move to next week’s shows! Up first are the Girls!
GIRLS
Ellona Santiago – She has some great stage presence and puts on a great performance, entertainment-wise. However, it seemed like the back-up singers were louder than her. Did she try too hard to put on a show and get drowned out? Kelly said she is so happy she opened up the show and that was so magical and she is going to be one to watch in this competition. Paulina said this is the best opening for this and she loved her from the beginning to the end. Simon said he believed in her and he was right. Demi said she is so proud of her and she really kicked butt.
Danie Geimer – She sings “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus and I am disappointed. I have loved her voice, but this was not very good. She sounds weak in parts and she was overpowered by the music. This is such an emotional song and I did not feel it from her. Kelly said she liked the energy she brought, but she was expecting more from her. Simon said she had real moments there, but the problem is how to make her not boring. Demi said she believes in her, but her performance lacked energy.
Rion Paige – She takes on a song from her mentor, as she sings “Skyscraper” by Demi Lovato. This is the first time not doing a Carrie Underwood song and it starts slow for me, but she kicks it in and gets those emotions going of the song. Paulina said she loves this performance and feels the power and courage she has. Simon said that was seriously good and she is a special person. Demi said she did exactly what she told her to do in the rehearsals and such an emotional performance.
Khaya Cohen – She sings “Mercy” by Duffy and I think the song choice is perfect for her voice. She has that weird tone to her voice and works it out, but is it enough? She tries to work the stage, but it seems a little awkward to me. Kelly said she loves listening to her sing, but it felt like she was uncomfortable with moving so much. Simon said she has the most commercial voice of the four girls on The X Factor USA 2013, but she has a wall in front of her and she has to be liked. Demi said we tried to work out that performance, but it was a little uncomfortable.
It is time for Demi to name her Top 3 Girls and they are Ellona Santiago, Rion Paige and Khaya Cohen, which means that Danie Geimer is headed home on The X Factor USA Season 3! What do you think?
BOYS
Josh Levi – He sings “Only Girl In The World” by Rihanna and I think he is trying to be something he is not. I was annoyed by this performance and it was nothing special. Demi thinks he has a lot of potential, but the song choice was bad and it was uncomfortable. Simon said he is a great performer, but he needs a hell of a lot of work on his vocals. Paulina said she believes in his vocals.
Carlos Guevara – He sings “Don’t You Worry Child” by Swedish House Mafia and if you thought Josh was awkward, well this one is even worse. They start with a closeup shot of his face that never seemed to end. His vocals were not good and that was not good. Kelly said she loves his spirit, but he gets peachy at times. Simon said he was not expecting him to be as good as he just was and he felt real emotion.
Carlito Olivero – He sings “Maria Maria” by Santana. I feel someone finally picked a great song choice and he nails it. He sounds good. He looks good. He has great stage presence and was working those dance moves. He is just pretty. Demi said she feels she is looking at someone that has a spot in the market and is really impressed. Simon said he had slight reservations and out of everyone he has seen so far, he would be the only one he would sign to a recording contract. Paulina said that is what music is all about.
Tim Olstad – He sings “Always” by Bon Jovi. He has a great voice and has such control, but is he too boring? There was nothing over-the-top special about this performance, but it was good. Kelly said he has a killer voice and loves his spirit. Simon said he felt he went from a party to a funeral and the funeral director started singing. Demi said he has a great voice, but the energy did go down a lot.
Time for Paulina to name her Top 3 Boys on The X Factor USA 2013 are Carlito Olivero, Carlos Guevara and Tim Olstad, which means that Josh Levi is headed home. Do you agree?
OVER 25s
Lillie McCloud – She sings “When A Man Loves A Woman” by Percy Sledge. Can I say that this night has finally begun? Lillie came to win this thing and she is not messing around. This was an amazing performance and she is one of the best. Paulina said that was amazing and she is one of the winners of this competition. Simon said she is one heck of a singer, but she needs to lose the theatrics because it is making her too dated. Kelly said she is absolutely incredible and she is the best vocalist here.
Jeff Gutt – He sings “Try” by Pink. She is one of my favorite artists, so this was a little weird to hear a guy sing it. However, he hit the emotion of the song and did really well. I was shocked. Demi said he brings something into the show that is not in the competition. Simon said it was raw, honest and bloody brilliant and it was an outstanding performance. Kelly said he has worked so hard these past couples weeks and it showed.
Rachel Potter – She sings “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack. She impressed me during her audition, but then I was not impressed during the Four Chair Challenge, but she said she was sick. She does have a good country voice and hits some big notes, but there is something weird about it and gets a weird tone going on. Paulina said she has such a beautiful tone and brilliant. Simon said that song was perfect for her and she was better than Lillie. Kelly said she is a delight to work with and she has worked so hard.
James Kenney – He sings “Red” by Daniel Merriweather. I am not familiar with the song, but he did such a good job. You could feel the emotion in it and I really enjoyed it and enjoyed him. Demi said she doesn’t know what the heck Kelly is going to do and that was really great. Simon agrees and he is glad he is not in Kelly’s position tonight. Paulina really enjoys it and that was amazing and she felt it. Kelly said she is so grateful that she worked with such amazing talent and everyone wants to be here.
Time for Kelly Rowland to name her Top 3 Over 25s are Rachel Potter, Jeff Gutt and Lillie McCloud, which means that James Kenney is headed home on The X Factor USA 2013. Do you agree with her choices?
GROUPS
Roxxy Montana – They sing “Royals” by Lorde. Simon said we would love them after this performance and I think he is crazy. These sisters are so talented and this song did nothing for them. It was sad to watch. Kelly said she was not expecting that and they look and sound great. Paulina said they are coming out of their shell and they are growing up. Simon said they took all the direction and the song was great for them and he is really proud of them.
Sweet Suspense – They sing “I Don’t Care” by Icona Pop. They start terrible and just sound rough together. The song kicks in and they are having fun, but I don’t see them as a standout group. They are cute girls with alright voices, but Simon seemed to love it. Demi said they are stars. Simon said that is what he calls a pop group and it was magic.
Alex & Sierra – They sing “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke. I absolutely love these two. They take popular songs and make them their own. This was amazing and they are just having fun up there and can sing. They are cute together and he better send them through! Paulina said just seeing them makes her happy and there is a market for them. Kelly loves them and wanted it to be sexier. Simon said he could feel the sex appeal and they have an amazing sexual chemistry. It is about being successful in the real world and there is no one out there like them and he is very impressed.
Restless Road – They sing “Roar” by Katy Perry. They wowed everyone with their first performance together during the Four Chair Challenge and I think Simon put too much pressure on them and wanted something even more amazing tonight. How can they sing a Katy Perry song? I am over these judges and how they love everyone and have nothing bad to say. Am I watching a different show? Paulina said the song was a great choice and she is a fan already. Kelly said she is buying every Restless Road album.
Time for Simon to name his Top 3 Groups for the live shows and they are Restless Road, Alex & Sierra and Sweet Suspense, which means that Roxxy Montana is headed home on The X Factor Season 3 tonight! Good decision?
