The X Factor USA 2013 Spoilers - Premiere

Last week on The X Factor Season 3the auditions came to an end. Then it was up to the judges to cut the 218 acts that had moved forward down to just 40 acts! That is ten in each category: Boys, Girls, Groups and Over 25s. After doing that, the judges then found out what category they would be mentoring and no temper tantrums were had like L.A. Reid last season when he was given the Over 25s!

Nope, we have Simon Cowell with the Groups, Demi Lovato with the Girls, Paulina Rubio with the Boys and Kelly Rowland with the Over 25s. I think this is a great pairing for all of them and excited to see this Four Chair Challenge get started tonight! Come watch with us during our recap starting soon!

WARNING: THE X FACTOR USA 2013 SPOILERS AHEAD!

Don’t want to know what happened on our The X Factor USA 2013 Recap or see who got eliminated on The X Factor Season 3 tonight? Then don’t read ahead!

***************************************************************

Here we go…they are working this thing big time tonight for the Four Chair Challenge. Each singer will sing from the category and their mentor will determine if they will get a chair or go home! Only four will move on to the live shows and no one is safe until all ten acts have sung on The X Factor USA 2013!

Mario Lopez is hosting it tonight and I am glad that Khloe Kardashian is gone and he can do this on his own! We will go by category and first up tonight on The X Factor Season 3 are the Over 25s and Kelly Rowland. She thinks they are all ready and she has some tough decisions to make.

OVER 25s

Victoria Carriger is up first and again is the mother of eight children and is separated from her husband. I am not that impressed by her, but who am I?

Judges: Demi loves the raspiness in her voice, but thinks it lacked energy. Paulina loved her raspy voice. Simon said she had a great audition, but based on that performance he would not send her through. Kelly said that is why she has the Over 25s and she makes the decisions here!

Decision: Kelly thinks she is ready for this competition and tells her to take a chair!

Next up is Kristine Mirele and she sells chips and salsa at a grocery store! She takes on “Oops, I Did It Again!” and gives it a whole new rendition, but I don’t think her voice is that strong and she gets pitchy at times.

Judges: Demi said she loves her stage presence, but it was very pitchy. Paulina said she has a great talent, but doesn’t know if she is ready for this. Simon thought the arrangement wasn’t great, but thinks she has potential.

Decision: Kelly likes her and she gives her a chair!

Jeff Gutt was knocked out before the live shows last season, but will he make it this season? He sings “Amazing Grace” and I think it is a great performance, but what kind of music does he want to do? It has a rock tone to it, but he seems to switch all the time.

Judges: Paulina said the power is beyond his voice, but it is the power of his will. Demi said he has come so far since last season and he is so talented. Simon said this is by far the best performance of the night so far. Kelly said he is so talented and he brings up the stakes.

Decision: He gets one of the chairs as well.

Our next singer is country singer Rachel Potter, who moved from New York to Nashville to pursue her dreams. She is bartending to make it work, but will this be her chance? I liked her voice in the auditions and I like her voice tonight on The X Factor USA 2013 and she is doing well, but then lets out some screech and weird noises and I think blew it!

Judges: Demi thinks she can do better than that, but that was kind of rough. Simon thought it was a great choice to do that song in a country version and it will be a tough decision. Kelly thinks she has pipes and was surprised that her highs were not that clean, but Rachel said she has been sick all day and taking medicine.

Decision: She puts her in a chair and now all four of the seats are taken, so six more to go and now we have to do some replacing!

Lorie Moore is a retired football player and has been MVP and Rookie of the Year, but she won the championship and stepped away to pursue music. This girl has got it and is a great singer. She is so strong on that stage and she is fighting for one of those chairs tonight on The X Factor 2013! I just fell in love with Lorie with her speech after her song: hard work beats a cutsie image and beats excuses and she just did her thing!

Judges: Demi said she felt the passion behind that performance, but doesn’t know if she is looking at a superstar. Paulina said she doesn’t know where she would fit in the music industry. Simon said if you are good then you make yourself fit. He didn’t like the version of the song, but she can sing. Kelly loves her voice, but doesn’t know if she is ready for this competition.

Decision: Kelly loves the words and thinks she deserves a chair, so she sends home Kristine Merele!

Allison Davis was not really shown during the auditions and Simon even voted no on her in the auditions. Kelly did not have positive words, but gave her a chance. Will she give her another chance tonight? I guess we should listen to Simon, huh? This was a terrible performance and I don’t know what she was thinking.

Judges: Demi said she has the look, but she can’t feel like she can take her seriously. Simon said the word that comes to mind is wannabe. Kelly doesn’t want them attacking Allison and it is key to know who you are as a performer and show that to the world.

Decision: Kelly does not think she is ready and sends her home, so the chairs remain the same!

Jeff Brinkman is a new dad and runs a dog-walking business. I loved his audition and love his voice, so will he continue tonight? I think he chose a perfect song for his audition, but this song tonight was terrible and showed nothing off for his voice. He hits a huge note, but I don’t think it is enough to save him!

Judges: Demi said she got bored and he chose a bad song. Simon asked how he could go from singing Joe Cocker to the ridiculous song. Kelly said remember how great he was with his first performance.

Decision: Despite the terrible performance, Kelly is going to put him in a seat. She now sends home Victoria Carriger!

Denny Smith looks like Santa Claus and he is the oldest singer in the competition! He has been pursuing this singing career for 55 years now! He gets the crowd off their feet and clapping, but let’s be honest. We all know he could never move on in this competition!

Judges: Paulina said she once again believes in Santa Claus and loves him. Simon said that Santa Claus just rocked the house. Mario asks her if she is going to be naughty or nice???

Decision: She sends him home and I agree with her. What do you think?

We have to hear about James Kenney and how he is an apartment manager and must clean toilets or dog poop. Kind of hoping he goes home so I can not hear that story again! He sings “Lean On Me” and it starts a little slow, but he kicks it in in the end and he might have just sung his way into a chair. I think a perfect song choice for him.

Judges: Demi said he killed it. Paulina said that was so solid and they were into him and loved it. Simon said he has heard the song a million times and never like that and earned his respect after that performance. Kelly said he took one leap of faith with that performance and loves his voice.

Decision: Kelly wants to keep him, so he gets a chair and sends home Jeff Brinkman! Is anyone else loving this Four Chair Challenge on The X Factor USA 2013?

The last singer in the Over 25s is Lillie McCloud and I think we will have another switch with this performance, but we shall see. She brought Kelly to tears, but I was not feeling it. Great voice, but I just didn’t feel it this time.

Judges: Demi said she looks like a superstar and honored to be a panel in front of her. Paulina said thank you so much for giving us so much and she is a goddess. Simon said he just loves her and she has The X Factor.

Decision: Kelly said she is in her final four, but who does she replace? She sends home Lorie Moore! I thought it would be Rachel Potter.

That means the Final Four for the Over 25s are James Kenney, Lillie McCloud, Jeff Gutt and Rachel Potter and they move on to the live shows!

GIRLS

Now we move on to Demi Lovato and her Girls. First up is Bree Randall. She has a vision book and has everything planned out for her life. Will her plans work out for being on The X Factor Season 3? It was a decent performance, but nothing special.

Judges: Kelly said between her audition and now there was no growth and the performance just dragged. Paulina said it is important to be herself. Simon said she brought the right outfit, personality but did not bring her voice. Demi loves her drive, but think she wouldn’t be ready to compete against the four that sang earlier.

Decision: Demi fell for her speech and gives her a spot in the chairs, but we will see her eliminated later!

We have Khaya Cohen from New York City. She says she is a small white girl that loves to sing big, soulful songs. I love the soul in her voice and can’t believe she is only 16 years old. She sings a popular song and switches it up and I am a fan.

Judges: Kelly said she has incredible instincts and her presence on stage is so natural. Simon said she has gotten even better and he knows a lot of great producers who would want to work with her right now. Demi can’t help but smile when she sees her perform and the entire competition needs to look out for her.

Decision: No big shocker, she gets a seat!

Jamie Pineda comes from a big family and they keep the Mexican culture. She has been singing since she was three years old and now sings at retirement homes….WHAT?!?!? She takes on a No Doubt song and it sounds alright and she throws some Spanish lyrics in there and the crowd loves it, as does Paulina.

Judges: Kelly said she loves her voice, but she looks like she is uncomfortable on stage sometimes. Simon said when she sings in English there is nothing special about her voice, but when she switches it up he can see a market for her. Demi said she looks like a star and is impressed when she switches it up.

Decision: Let’s just say that the first four singers will always make it into the chairs, right? Jamie gets a seat!

Ashly Williams wowed the judges during her audition on The X Factor USA 2013 and now here she is back for the Four Chair Challenge. Her mother was murdered when she was 14 years old and just wants one more chance to see her. How about taking a classic and making it your own? That is what Ashly did and not many dry eyes in the house!

Judges: Kelly said she is so talented and so much strength behind her voice and loves listening to her. Paulina said music is for her. Simon said she has a lot of bravery, but she did not like the song and had some tuning issues and better singers in this competition.

Decision: Demi gives her a seat, so all four seats are filled with the first four singers!

We are down for the night, so we will continue the Four Chair Challenge on The X Factor USA 2013 tomorrow night as we make our way through the rest of the Girls! Next week will be the Boys and Groups! Who was your favorite of the night?
