*********************************************************************
Here we go…we start off by taking a look back at the Knockout Rounds for Team Adam and Team Shakira. Did any decisions by the coaches shock you last night on The Voice 2013? America starts voting next week and helps figure out the Top 12 on The Voice Season 4. You excited?
Team Blake: Savannah Berry vs. Justin Rivers
Blake said they are both country artists with a pop twist, so he wants to see who he can bring to the live shows. Savannah will sing “As Long As You Love Me” by Justin Bieber. For his song, Justin Rivers will sing “Climb” by Miley Cyrus. I was not a huge fan of Savannah and her song choice and she did not impress me. It seemed to never go anywhere and she seemed pretty low-key. Justin hits a huge note in the middle and I am sold. I like his potential more than Savannah and what Blake can do with him. All the coaches liked Justin and Blake agreed!
Winner: Justin Rivers
Team Usher: Josiah Hawley vs. Jess Kellner
With this Knockout Round, Usher wants to see who can bring more character to the stage on The Voice USA Season 4. Josiah will sing “Back To Black” by Amy Winehouse. Jess will sing “You Give Me Something” by James Morrison. Josiah starts it out and he puts a while new twist on that song and makes it an enjoyable performance. Jess has something to her voice that I enjoy and she seems to connect to the lyrics really well. I like her emotion, but who will Usher pick???
Winner: Josiah Hawley
Team Blake: Holly Tucker vs. Luke Edgemon
Blake said they both have a gospel background and a way to project, so that is why he chose them both. Holly will sing “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw. She lacks the confidence that Blake has in her and she needs to open up to move on. Luke will sing “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry. Holly has such a strong voice and a great country voice, so that is a winner in Blake’s eyes. Love that Luke was back there cheering her on, but now we have a break before seeing Luke perform! He totally put an R&B twist to Katy Perry’s song and I am loving it. It sounded nothing like the original version and I commend him on that one. I am impressed with him, but can Blake go non-country? The coaches are torn over Luke and his version of the song, but it comes down to Blake Shelton and his choice.
Winner: Holly Tucker
Team Usher: Audrey Karrasch vs. Michelle Chamuel
Usher said they are both indie artists, but he wants an epic performance from them on The Voice USA Season 4. Audrey will sing “How To Love” by Lil Wayne. Usher gets right in Audrey’s face during rehearsals to get her ready for the Knockout. Michelle will sing “Raise Your Glass” by Pink. They get down and do 20 push-ups and then she sings to work on her energy and not overdoing it. To be honest, I am not a fan of Audrey’s voice. I was not impressed. There is something about Michelle that is entertaining and I like her. She has the personality that makes you want to like her and I am Team Michelle!
Winner: Michelle Chamuel
Team Blake: Danielle Bradbery vs. Taylor Beckham
Blake said they are both young and have a confidence issue, so he wants to see who steps out a little more. Danielle will sing “Jesus Take The Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. Blake said country music is about telling the story and she must tell the story in this song. Taylor will sing “Russian Roulette” by Rihanna. Blake wants Taylor to make him feel like he wants to buy this. Danielle has a voice very similar to Carrie Underwood and I like her on this song. She is very inexperienced and still sounds so amazing. Taylor was a little on the more boring side for me, but she did hit some big notes during her performance, but I am picking Danielle as the winner. You?
Winner: Danielle Bradbery
Team Usher: C. Perkins vs. Vedo
Usher said they are both R&B singers, but he can only concentrate on one of them. C. Perkins will sings “She Ain’t You” by Chris Brown. Usher thinks the song might be too big for him, but we shall see. Vedo will sing “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams and he will be singing this to his mom. C. Perkins was not that strong on the high note during his performance, but that note is way up there and he made up for it with working the crowd big time. I’m not going to lie, but Vedo’s performance brought some tears to my eyes. He sounded great and the emotion was there big time. Such a moving performance and I think a clear victory for him.
Winner: Vedo
Team Blake: Grace Askew vs. The Swon Brothers
Blake said they both have a classic country sound and he only has room for one on his team. Grace will sing “I Can’t Stand The Rain” by Tina Turner. This is her chance to show over her blues side. The Swon Brothers will sing “Drift Away” by Dobie Gray. This is the first duo to make it past the Battle Rounds for Team Blake. I was a fan of Grace during her Blind Audition, but then we didn’t see her battle and now she is here and I am not liking this performance. She is unique and this didn’t show it off so much for me. The Swon Brothers have such a smooth and easy vocal to listen to. This was a great song choice for them and think they could do very well in the country music world.
Winner: The Swon Brothers
Team Usher: Cathia vs. Ryan Innes
Usher said they are both emotional singers, but he wants to see who can make him believe on The Voice USA Season 4. Cathia will sing “Mr. Know It All” by Kelly Clarkson. Usher helps her work on her stage presence and sass needed for this song. Ryan will sing “I Don’t Want To Be” by Gavin DeGraw. Usher teaches Ryan how to work a performance without sitting behind a piano. I think Cathia sounded great on the song and I love this song, but I think she was trying too hard with the stage presence and trying to be sassy and it annoyed me. Then she hits a huge note and I can look past the annoyance on that note! I have been a fan of Ryan all season long, but this was not my favorite performance from him. It lacked something from him and he struggled hitting the big note and I may have to go with Cathia on this one!
Winner: Cathia
