The Voice USA 2015 Recap: Night 2 – Live Playoffs (VIDEO)

Time for Team Christina and Team Adam to perform on The Voice USA 2015 tonight, as the Voice Playoffs continue and the rest of the Top 20 on The Voice USA Season 8 take the stage! It is time for America to vote again for their favorites and the Voice Results will be delivered tomorrow night! Team Adam has bored me this season, so maybe they’ll pull out the big guns tonight to impress us? Last night on The Voice 2015 Season 8, things kicked off for the Voice Playoffs and we had some good performances from Team Blake and Team Pharrell. These are both some strong teams with some standouts, so it is going to be tough to see two of them go home from each team tomorrow night. One of those standouts was Sawyer Fredericks on Team Pharrell and his performance of a classic last night. Will it be enough to keep him in the competition though?

Here we go…before the contestants take the stage, we get a special performance from Sia, a former advisor for Team Christina and she sings “Elastic Heart.” How was she an advisor when we can never even see her face???

Tonya Boyd-Cannon (Team Adam) – “Take Me to the Pilot” by Elton John

I am a fan of Tonya and think she has such a strong voice. She seemed to be lacking something during the Knockout Rounds and that something was a song that allowed her personality to come out more. This song allowed that to happen and she was having fun up there. She is so strong on stage and confident and her voice is so good.

Joshua Davis (Team Adam) – “Budabest” by George Ezra

I am not so sure about this song choice, but I do like the sound of Joshua’s voice. He is a very good singer and he is so Team Adam. He showed off some range with this song, so I did enjoy that. Overall, I was a little underwhelmed with this one.

Sonic (Team Christina) – “I’m Going Down” by Rose Royce

I love this song and I am a fan of Sonic. She has such a strong voice and such strong stage presence. She is deaf in one ear, so remember that one folks when you watch this amazing performance! She is so good and she nailed this song and great song choice for her on The Voice USA 2015!

Brian Johnson (Team Adam) – “At This Moment” by Billy Vera

He was Adam’s steal during the Knockout Rounds, so he feels he has something to prove this time around. I have always thought that Brian was a good singer and he has a very strong voice, but he seems to just blend in with the competition and does not stand out. However, this was a great song choice and a great performance from him. I think it was one of his best of the season, so props to him on that one!

Kimberly Nichole (Team Christina) – “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes

This song has never been approved before for the show, but Christina pulled some strings and here we go! To be honest, I love Kimberly’s voice and style, but I am not sure about it on this song. It was nice to see a different side to her voice, but I think it lacked something from her that we normally see and like. However, she nailed the vocals.

Lexi Davila (Team Christina) – “All By Myself” by Celine Dion

I have not quite understood the love for Lexi and how she has made it this far in the competition. Then she comes out and takes on a Celine Dion song??? I thought this was going to be a big fail, but she actually did pretty good with it and surprised me. She is no Celine, but she hit some good notes throughout it.

Nathan Hermida (Team Adam) – “Chains” by Nick Jonas

He said he always wanted to be an R&B artist and I just laughed. He came out and sang this song and I am a fan! Another one that surprised me and he had it going on tonight and he has some chops on him. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, as this was awesome!

India Carney (Team Christina) – “Hurt” by Christina Aguilera

If I have a favorite this season, India definitely is one of the singers towards the top of that list. Her voice is amazing and she has such control. This performance just may have moved her to the top. She hit all the emotions of this song and add in her amazing voice and you have a winner here folks!

Rob Taylor (Team Christina) – “Earned It” by The Weekend

Rob did what no person on a reality show should do: he read the comments from people out there! He thinks people think he can only hit those high notes and they are not nice about it. Christina told him to look past it and it must have worked it, as he showed off some great range with this song. This is, by far, my favorite performance from him and he sounded amazing on it!

Deanna Johnson (Team Adam) – “Down To The River To Pray”

She has some major nerves and Adam has put his faith in her. She said she is comfortable singing in church, so he said lets bring the church to The Voice Season 8. I don’t know why she is so nervous to sing, as she has a great voice. I think the nerves were gone tonight, as she seemed very comfortable up there and did a great job!
