The Voice - Season 6

Last week on The Voice 2014 Season 6, the coaches got started on the Battle Rounds and pairing up the artists on their teams. After Night 1 and Night 2 concluded, between winners and steal, we have 16 artists in place for the next round. Team Adam has used up both of his steals for the Battle Rounds and Team Shakira and Team Blake have both used one of their steals and Team Usher has both his in place for this final week of Battle Rounds, so he could get some good talent and not have to fight anyone for them!

The fun and the battles begin soon, so follow along with our recap below and see the videos of the Battle Rounds when available from NBC!

Here we go…we start with a look back at the battles from last week. The coaches and mentors are in place and time to get the Voice Battles going tonight!

Team Adam: Austin Ellis vs. Josh Kaufman
Song: “Happy” by Pharrell
Austin’s mom came here from Mexico and came from next to nothing, so to succeed would be a dream come true. Josh is a family man, but money is becoming an issue and thinks it might be time to put music aside and find a responsible job. Adam said this is a new song, but it has an old feel to it and that is why he gave them this song. Heading into the battle, it looks like Austin is ahead and more confident and energetic on that stage. They both have very good voices and I love this song, but I am liking Josh more. Austin is good, but seems more dramatic with his singing and Josh is just naturally good to me.

Winner: Josh Kaufman and no steals for Austin, so he is eliminated!

Team Blake: Alaska & Madi vs. Audra McLaughlin
Song: “When Will I Be Loved” by Linda Ronstadt
Audra has a learning disability growing up, but now she has a 3.95 GPA and studying to be a medical assistant. Alaska & Madi come from the same state as Blake, so it was destiny. So, does the duo have an advantage over the single here? Blake thinks they are all great country singers, but he has to figure out who is the most accomplished. They all do have great country voices, but it doesn’t seem fair when you have two going against won and they will overpower you!

Winner: Audra McLaughlin and no steals for Alaska & Madi, so they head home on The Voice USA 2014!

Team Shakira: Deja Hall vs. Music Box
Song: “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles
Deja was raised in a military family and is an athlete, so it fuels her competitiveness. Music Box had terrible stage freight, so she came up with this alias to make it easier on her nerves. Miranda Lambert said Deja hasn’t found her voice yet and needs to get more aggressive. She said Music Box is so strong, but can’t go 100 mph all the time. For this song, Music Box owns it. She can relate to the lyrics and connects so well and is so strong. Deja is a good singer, but this song is way off for her and she is too young to be taking on this song.

Winner: Deja Hall and Usher wants Music Box on his team, so he steals her away!

Team Usher: Madilyn Paige vs. Tanner James
Song: “Everything has Changed” by Taylor Swift featuring Ed Sheeran
So crazy, but they are both from Provo, Utah! Do you think they know each other? Nope, but they went to the same school and never met each other. He said it is a great love song, but they are not working that in their performance during rehearsals. They go through a lot of trials and errors with what will work, but here we go! They both have very good voices, but so different. This could go either way!

Winner: Madilyn Paige and no steals for Tanner, so he is eliminated.

Team Adam: Dawn & Hawkes and Josh Murley
Song: “Stuck in the Middle with You” by Stealer’s Wheel
Dawn & Hawkes are partners on the stage and partners in real life. Josh is a single Dad and struggling in a small town to pursue his music. Adam thinks this song is fun and good for more people, so it will work it out being the two-on-one thing. He wants to see Dawn & Hawkes crank out more attitude and Josh not to be intimidated by them. This is a good battle and a fun song, but I am liking Josh. Dawn & Hawkes are good in their own way, but Josh won this battle, but I think Adam will keep Dawn & Hawkes.

Winner: Dawn & Hawkes and Shakira wants Josh on her team, as she steal him away and Josh Murley joins Team Shakira!

Team Usher: Bria Kelly vs. Tess Boyer
Song: “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin
Bria has overcome personal tragedies, as her Mom almost passed away and is now here as her biggest supporter on The Voice USA 2014. Tess is a former NFL cheerleader and got to sing in front of big crowds, but this is a chance for her to shine. Usher said this is a unique pairing and allows them their own vulnerability. I am liking the style of Bria, but her voice sounds like a big scream some of the times and it hurts my ears! She needs to calm that down, but I think she might be the winner.

Winner: Bria Kelly and Blake wants Tess, so he steals her away and she joins Team Blake!
