Things got off to a bang with the Live Playoffs on The Voice USA 2013 last night, but not it is time for Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green to show us what kind of talent they have tonight on The Voice USA Season 5. Ten of the Top 20 on The Voice Season 5 took the stage last night and now the other ten singers perform for our votes tonight. We have to wait until Thursday night to find out the results on The Voice 2013, but I think it will be worth it. WARNING: THE VOICE USA 2013 SPOILERS AHEAD!

The following post contains videos from tonight’s episode of The Voice 2013 Season 5 Live Playoffs. Don’t want to see them yet, then don’t look ahead!!!

****************************************************************

Here we go…we have Team CeeLo and Team Christina performing tonight and it looks like we are starting the night again with a performance by Christina Aguilera? Things kickoff with a look back at the performances from last night! Yup, it is then time for Christina to perform with A Great Big World as they sing “Say Something.” It was a great performance and a very emotional performance!

Amber Nicole (Team CeeLo) – “Wasting All These Tears” by Cassadee Pope

CeeLo stole her during the Knockout Rounds and she is grateful. Her father is a musician and her older sister is a vocal coach who happened to teach The Voice coach Usher! CeeLo said doing a country song shows the range of an R&B artist. After she gets through that first chorus, it seems like Amber got more comfortable and kicked it in. She sounded great and hit those emotions that the lyrics hit on. Adam Levine said it was a good performance, but the big note was a little under. Blake Shelton said she is treading on some sacred ground with a Cassadee Pope song, but she did a good job. Christina said that country suits her and she did her own thing and she heard some Rihanna in there. CeeLo said she did a great job and she rose to the occasion with such class.

Jonny Gray (Team CeeLo) – “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve

Jonny said that picking CeeLo was the best decision he has made in his life and he has made him a better artist. CeeLo thinks he is the last of a breed and he represents Americana. He told him to stay true to himself. Jonny is going to bring raw emotions from life and CeeLo wants that message to connect with people. I think this is a perfect song choice for Jonny’s voice. He has that weird tone to it and it fits with this song. I am a fan of him and this was a very good performance on The Voice USA 2013. Adam thinks he is a great singer and he really enjoyed it and it is a tough song to do. Christina said it was so consistent and he was very accurate and towards the end he let more loose with it. CeeLo said a great job with one of his favorite songs. He hopes America enjoyed it as much as he did.

Tamara Chauniece (Team CeeLo) – “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor

She felt more of a connection with CeeLo on a spiritual level and he taught her she can sing more than gospel music. He said this song has girl power, but she can do this. Tamara feels this song has no limits and if she gives it all she has, then she will accomplish what she wants. For me, I love this song. However, can anyone take the person singing it seriously? This has been song so many times and there is nothing really new a singer can do to it, at least with the route she took. She has a great voice, but I think she needed something bigger for tonight. Adam said she had her best performance at the best time. Blake said she looks absolutely beautiful and that song is a tall order and she did that song great. CeeLo said wonderful job and the energy was electric and she got everyone going.

Kat Robichaud (Team CeeLo) – “She Keeps Me Warm” by Mary Lambert

She said she chose CeeLo because she thinks they are soul mates. She has been this rocker, but CeeLo wants to show a different side of her and show off her range. I am a lover of this song, so I want to see her take it on on The Voice USA 2013. He said rockstars wear their hearts on their sleeves and with this song she can convey that. I love me some Kat, but I am unsure of this performance. It started real rough for me, but then she kicked it in towards the middle. I am still unsure. Adam said that was awesome and it was great, but he wanted to see seventh gear from her. Christina said she gets the trying to show something different, but she wanted to see the big notes also. She appreciated the intent of the song. CeeLo said he thought she needed a moment like this and she did a great job.

Caroline Pennell (Team CeeLo) – “We’re Going To Be Friends” by The White Stripes

She said that since the Blind Auditions she has gained so much confidence. CeeLo said this is the perfect song for her and if he was younger then they would be friends and he would stand up to the bullies for her. He wants her to charm all of America with her sweetness and give them cavities. Caroline is having a hard time trying to figure out where in the song to put her own little twists into it. I absolutely love her indie voice and how comfortable she looks up on that stage. She has such a great voice and is so innocent about it. Adam said he is so happy right now and he just heard her tonight and she did a beautiful Caroline rendition of that song. Blake said he could literally be getting an amputation and he could hear her music and all he wants to do is eat cotton candy. CeeLo said wonderful to him and it was strong suited for her and he thinks America loves her.

Josh Logan (Team Christina) – “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley

He said he has wanted to be part of the music industry for a very long time, but being a part of The Voice USA 2013 has made it happen for him. Christina said that she normally would be worried about a singer taking on a coach’s song, but she thinks Josh is a pro and can handle it well.I am not sure of this one. He does his own thing to the song, but it is a little too much for me. It was too weird for me and I have been impressed by Josh prior to this performance. Maybe because it is such an iconic song and known for the way they did it? CeeLo said he is flattered and glad that that song means something to anyone and he did a great job. Adam said he is a huge fan of his and his last performance was so good, but sometimes the runs sounded overwhelming and it got a little complicated at times. Christina said such a great job and what he did on the stage tonight was so original and he is such a skilled vocalist.

Olivia Henken (Team Christina) – “Roar” by Katy Perry

Olivia said that Christina has taught her that there is more than the country genre out there. Christina wants to mold the country and pop genres. She wants her to slow it down and show more emotion with the song and she will own the stage. So, Restless Road performed this song on The X Factor USA 2013 last week and I was not impressed with their country rendition of it. Olivia nailed it tonight! She put her country twist on a very popular song right now and did it so well. And how the hell did she spray paint herself into that dress tonight on The Voice USA 2013. Blake said he is surprised at how well a country voice works on that song and she did great. Christina said she did her heart so well and she is beyond one thing and she can do it all.

Stephanie Anne Johnson (Team Christina) – “Georgia On My Mind” by Ray Charles

Christina is glad to have her back on her team and wants to hear her voice on this song. Stephanie said this song reminds her of her grandmother, so she is excited to take it on. She said she is going to take this performance and treat it like it is her last, which it could be unless you vote for her. I love the sound of her voice and that bluesy tone she has going on. She hits those low notes, but then can take it high too. She kicked it in towards the end and owned that stage and I loved it. CeeLo said he is entertained and amazed and jealous and she sang so strong and assertive. Adam said she did a great job and she opened it up and changed it and didn’t make him dwell on the original so much and he respects that. Christina said wonderful job and she has such a unique quality to her voice and a richness.

Matthew Schuler (Team Christina) – “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus

He said that Christina has brought out his versatility and he is really glad to be here. Christina said she choose this song because he is a wrecking ball and he stormed through this competition. He has sang different genres, so she wanted to show he could take on a pop song too. She said he is magical and has proved he is a contender. I am going to go back to last season and Judith Hill. Everyone thought she was going to win that season, but she failed to connect with the audience and the song. I feel this is happening with Matthew as well. He has such a powerful voice and can sing so well. However, this is such an emotional song and I felt none of that from him. Did he sing the hell out of the song? Sure, but that song has so much more meaning when you hit those emotions of it. CeeLo said he hates how much he loves him. Adam said three hearts just broke and it makes him angry that he is not on his team. Blake said forget you…he’s so good. Christina said he always brings such charisma and emotion and he smashed it.

Jacquie Lee (Team Christina) – “I Put A Spell On You” by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins

Jacquie is the youngest artist on The Voice USA 2013. Christina said she has a lot of spirit and soul and you can’t teach that. She said this song gives you room to explore. She said she has great accuracy with her pitch, but now it is about emotion. What was lacking in the last performance for me was just made up by Jacquie. She hits every emotion of that song and she brings it from the gut for this performance. She is 16 years old and sounds so mature with her voice. That was downright amazing and crazy how she hit those notes! CeeLo said that was the absolute best and she is the future. Adam said she has made CeeLo angry and that is shocking, which means she was tremendous. Christina said she has grown so much and she is honored to be her coach and can’t wait to see her growth and connects with her on such a special level.
