NBC is doing it right this week with the tributes to the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, with the tribute on Saturday Night Live with the children’s choir and tonight The Voice Season 3 coaches and singers taking the stage to sing “Hallelujah” in honor of the victims in Newtown, Connecticut. The Voice 2012 coaches (Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green) all took the stage with the singers from Season 3 to sing this touching tribute to such a horrific tragedy. Check out the performance on The Voice 2012 below.

The show started out tonight with Blake Shelton singing and candles lighting the stage. It was a very touching start to a very touching performance. The Voice coaches and all of the singers from Season 3 took the stage and sang “Hallelujah.” They were all holding a card with a name and age of all the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. Besides Christina Aguilera’s stupid looking wig, this performance was sweet and innocent and something special for the show and network to do.

Yes, tonight is all about the Top 3 taking the stage on The Voice Season 3 and seeing who wins that recording contract tomorrow, but they kicked it off the right way. As Blake Shelton said later in the show, America’s heart is heavy right now and music helps heal that. I think this musical moment will help people in that healing process. The coaches all have amazing voices and it was nothing too over-the-top. It was just sweet and simple and something that the families of the victims would enjoy.
