Rising Star 2014 Recap: Week 3 – Who Will Raise The Wall Tonight?
| July 6, 2014 at 8:00 PM EDTWe have reached the final week of the Rising Star 2014 auditions and one last week of performers trying to raise the wall on ABC’s Rising Star, but is it too late in the game for anyone to really care about it? The show was hyped up big time and it has been nothing but a disappoint for me, as I find myself bored for two hours and want more from the singers and the experts on Rising Star 2014 (Ludacris, Brad Paisley and Kesha). Maybe they have saved the best for last? Check it out with us during our Rising Star 2014 Recap and see the Rising Star auditions 2014 come to an end!
Last week on Rising Star on ABC, we had 12 more performers take the stage and try to win over our votes on the app and the approval of the experts. To be honest, the approval of the judges seems to matter more than the votes from the audience. If all three experts vote for you, that is 21% of the 70% you need to raise the wall. People are out there voting for the singers in hopes of seeing their face on the wall. This whole concept is a joke!

Here we go…
Dana Williams – She grew up in Los Angeles, but moved around a lot. Her father was a guitarist for Michael Jackson. She sings “Stay” by Rihanna and I want to like her, but not sure if I do. Her voice has some good moments, but then some rough moments as well. I really don’t think she is that strong, but the experts all like her and they help push her over the edge and she ends at 87% and moves on to the next round!
Unselfish – They met through a dance company in Miami, but moved to Atlanta to pursue their music careers. They live and work together, so they see each other 24 hours a day! They sing “Some Night” by Fun. and it starts strong for me. They have some good harmonies going on, but cheesy dance moves. However, as they go on it gets pitchy and I lose interest in them. They end at 46% and will be heading home!
Cliff Cody – He is 39 years old and a registered nurse. He lives on a farm, but quit his nursing job and started to focus on his music career. Can he get this break on Rising Star 2014 tonight? He has a good voice and is alright, but there is nothing special about him and I don’t see a star there. He gets Brad Paisley to vote for him, but ends at 49% and is headed home!
Audrey Kate Geiger – She grew up on the beach and is a total Daddy’s girl. She used to sing with her Dad on the beach and he used to be in a band. She sings “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith and I am trying to get a feel of her. She has a weird sound to her voice that I am liking, but then it is rough when she tries to reach those higher notes. Those high notes are too rough for me, but the experts say yes and she gets to 84% and is moving on!
Oh.M.G – They met randomly at a house party and have been singing together for about a year now. They just vibed together, but we shall see tonight on Rising Star 2014. They sing “Lights” by Ellie Goulding and it is not good at all. She is a good singer, but he is not that strong and they do not vibe well together. They get to 33% and are eliminated!
Gabrielle Nicole – She is 20 years old and has been singing since she was 3 years old. She first sang in the children’s choir and was forced to sing. She sings “My Man” and you get that Broadway vibe from her. She could be in a musical, but she has those numbers going up and going up fast. She hits that mark easily and ends at 90% and is moving on to the next round!
We get a break from the auditions on Rising Star 2014 tonight to get a special performance from Brad Paisley.
Karen Hornsby – She is 36 years old and has been married for 15 years. In 2005, her daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer and her surgeries have left her blind and not able to talk. She said she is carrying her strength with her tonight on Rising Star on ABC! She sings “To Love You More” by Celine Dion and she has that Celine vibe going on with her look, but she does not have that voice to back it up. She doesn’t have a huge range and I am not a fan, but she gets to 82% and is moving on to the next round!
TX3 – They are triplets and they are some good-looking guys. They have always been singing and dancing together while growing up. They were shirtless singers on Hollywood Boulevard to make money for rent! They sing “Keep Your Head Up” by Andy Grammer and they better start taking those shirts off to bring in some votes. Their voices are not that strong and so pitchy, but the beatbox was kind of cool. Kesha votes for them (probably just to party with them after the show) and they only get to 22% and will be heading home!
Skye Griffin – Her mother had drug addiction issues, so she lived with her grandmother growing up and didn’t even know who her mother really was. I honestly don’t know where they have found these people, but this was terrible. She has no singing ability and her voice is annoying and so is she. She gets to 28% and is sent home!
Morgan Higgins – She is 16 years old and is very excited to be auditioning and is super nervous. She comes from a musical family. She sings “Alone” by Heart and this confirms how much of a joke this show has turned out to be. They always save the best for last and is this the best they have to offer? This song is overdone on this singing shows and many people have done it better than her (Carrie Underwood probably being the best ever), but Morgan gets to 79% and is moving on. How is this possible?
