Rising Star 2014 Recap: Top 8 Performances – Quarterfinals

Another night of performances on Rising Star 2014 tonight, as the Top 8 on Rising Star Season 1 will take the stage and perform for your votes. They are hoping to move on to the semifinals and make it one step closer to being the winner of Rising Star on ABC! Hard to believe we are almost done with this show, but it could not come soon enough for me! I have been less than thrilled with these contestants, but watch with us tonight during our Rising Star 2014 Recap and see who got eliminated on Rising Star 2014 tonight!

Last week on ABC’s Rising Star, the 13 remaining contestants took to the stage and performed against each other for the first time this season. It was all-or-nothing, as seven of the singers would automatically move on and then the contestant with the highest score on the West Coast of the remaining six contestants would be moving on as well. It seems like we have some clear favorites, like Austin French or Jesse Kinch, but you never know how the votes will turn out on this show. The people I think can actually sing a little bit are normally sent home every week!

Here we go…we have Josh Groban and the experts in place and time to get to the performances on Rising Star 2014. The expert votes tonight will be only 3%, so not as much of an impact and I like that! Five singers will be moving on and the West Coast save.

JOSHUA PEAVY – They say he is not someone who hold back from saying what is on his mind. Brad Paisley said he needs to stay who he is when he walked through those doors. He sings “American Woman” by Lenny Kravitz. He has a good voice, but I think this is such a bad song choice for him. This is a huge song and he is not a rocker in anyway.

VOTES: He ends with 71%.

DANA WILLIAMS – She has gotten saved twice now by the West Coast, so she is the comeback kid. Kesha is in love with her! She sings “Human” by Christina Perri. I like the sound of her voice, but this was weird for me. Her bigger notes and the chorus sounded great. The rest of it was a little rough and boring at times.

VOTES: She ends with 57%.

APRIL LOCKHART – Kesha said she is the perfect making of the next pop star. Brad said he is floored with her ability to match her voice to any song. She sings “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper. This was rough for me and a bad song choice. She tried to put a unique twist on it, but her voice did not fit into it. They are choosing too big of songs tonight for me to enjoy on Rising Star on ABC.

VOTES: She ends with 27%.

MANEEPAT MOLLOY – They said she is a big voice in a small package and that she is a living doll! She sings “Your Song” by Elton John. She starts with a huge note to win us all over and it might work, but then it gets pitchy for me. It is more than one huge not and I am not impressed.

VOTES: She ends with 46%.

AUDREY KATE GEIGER – Kesha said that Audrey Kate is one of those girls that every guy falls in love with and jesse Kinch agrees. Ludacris said song choice is crucial for her. She sings “New York State of Mind” by Billy Joel and she picks that perfect song choice for tonight! Such a good rendition of this song and I am in love with her voice!

VOTES: She ends with 85%.

AUSTIN FRENCH – They said he is cute and has this positive energy. Kesha said he is like a puppy, but needs to figure out what type of singer he is and what album he would put out. He sings “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. I will agree with everything that was said! He is a cutie and has a great voice, but he seems to pick a different style every week. Pick one and stick with it!

VOTES: He ends with 89%, which means that April Lockhart is eliminated.

SHAMEIA CRAWFORD – They say she is so poised and has such confidence and she is very serious about her craft. She sings ” Skyscraper” by Demi Lovato. I think she has a solid voice and has a good sound to her voice, but is it the voice of a star? I don’t think so. I don’t see that big star quality in her, but the voice is good.

VOTES: She ends with 54%, which means that Maneepat Molloy has been eliminated!

JESSE KINCH – They all make fun of his deep, raspy voice. They say he smolders when he sings. He is so laid back in person, but on that stage he is a beast. He sings “Money (That’s What I Want)” by Barrett Strong. No doubt about it, this guy can sing and is an entertainer. He is a rocker and I am a fan!

VOTES: He ends with 88%, which means that Shameia Crawford has been eliminated!
