Rising Star 2014 Recap: Top 6 Performances – Semifinals

We are one week away from finding out the winner of Rising Star 2014 and it could not come son enough! We have six contestants remaining on Rising Star on ABC and one of them will walk away with the recording contract and the “fame” of being named the winner of a show that no one seems to be watching! Watch with us tonight during our Rising Star 2014 Recap and see who got eliminated on Rising Star 2014 tonight!

Last week on Rising Star on ABC, the Top 8 took the stage and performed for your votes. Five of them would be moving on based on their percentages and then the West Coast Save would come into play for the three remaining singers. It seems pretty clear that we will have a tight race to the finish, but really between two of the singers. Austin French and Jesse Kinch have done amazingly well every week and one of them will likely end up the winner of Rising Star 2014. Audrey Kate Geiger snuck up to the top, as well, but she had a great performance last week. Maybe we could do it again with another great performance this week, but it looks like Austin or Jesse will win it all!

Here we go…we will see the Top 3 contestants move on to the finale next week plus one West Coast Save! Time to get to the performances on Rising Star 2014 tonight! If the experts vote for them tonight, it is only good for 1%!

AUSTIN FRENCH – He was on top of that leaderboard last week with 89%. He said he does not want to stay complacent. He sings “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic. The experts give him some advice on working the stage during this performance. This was a fun performance and he had a good time up there. It started slow for me, but he kicked it in and I liked it.

VOTES: He ends up at 81%.

MANEEPAT MOLLOY – She was the West Coast Save last week and now she wants to do her best tonight. Wouldn’t she want this every week? Josh Groban said she has to be her and sing like herself and not worry about what people say. She sings “Chandelier” by Sia. I feel this song has been overdone on this singing shows and none of them do well with it. It has such big notes and this was a terrible song choice for her.

VOTES: She ends with 27%.

JESSE KINCH – Brad Paisley voted him down last week and wants him to surprise him this week. Show him he can interpret a song and not do it over-the-top. He will be singing “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson and I am intrigued to see this one. He definitely puts a twist on this one and it starts real slow, but then it kicks in and he does his normal big voice and gets the votes flowing in.

VOTES: He ends with 83%.

DANA WILLIAMS – She said she feels like the underdog in Rising Star 2014, so she has to give it her all this week. She sings “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5. This is so crazy, as I know this song and yet, this did not sound familiar to me. She did her own take on the song and gets that wall to raise! She sings it pretty good and I am impressed.

VOTES: She ends with 75%, which means that Maneepat Molloy has been eliminated!

AUDREY KATE GEIGER – She kicked some major butt last week on Rising Star 2014, but can she keep it up tonight? She sings “Killing Me Softly With His Song” by The Fugees. I am a fan of her voice and her style. It has that weird sound to it, like an indie style. She is very strong and will probably get the West Coast Save?

VOTES: She ends with 69% and has been eliminated.

JOSHUA PEAVY – Brad tells him that they are looking at people now and seeing what type of music they would put on their album. He came into rehearsals singing a different song, but Brad hears country from him and picks a Rascal Flatts song and this could be a huge song choice change for him! I’m not sure what the other song would have sounded like, but this was a good change and he worked it out with this performance.

VOTES: He ends with 72% and has been eliminated!

It now comes down to the West Coast Save and it will be a close race between Audrey Kate and Joshua! What do you think of the results on Rising Star 2014 tonight?
