Last week on Rising Star on ABC, we had the final round of duels. To be honest, I have been skeptical of this show from the very beginning and not many of the singers have impressed me. The experts have too much of a say in this competition and I don’t like that. However, it seemed like we had a good week of performers last week and I didn’t find myself overly bored and overly annoyed! Maybe that will boil over into the Top 13 performances tonight?

Here we go…we start with some words from the experts and now it is time for the performances to start! The expert votes tonight will add 5% to their scores.
Macy Kate – “Who Knew” by Pink
She said she was a swimmer in school, so it took over her life and she didn’t have much time for friends or singing. She thinks her nerves have taken over with her last performances, so she is hoping to get past that tonight. I like how these contestants try for big notes and hope that gets them votes. She is pitchy and I don’t think her voice is that strong and I have said that from the very beginning!
VOTES: She ends with 60%.
Shameia Crawford – “Next To Me” by Emeli Sande
She was the first West Coast Save on Rising Star 2014. She has missed her husband, but he got to come out and visit her this week. Is it just me or does anyone else out there struggle with listening to these singers? She is not that strong and seems pitchy and her voice is not that strong.
VOTES: She ends with 76%.
Joshua Peavy – “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You” by Michael Bolton
He is the last parent left on the show, so it has been a struggle with not seeing his kids in like six weeks! He has a good voice, which I don’t say often with this competition. However, this performance was a little on the boring side to me and I think he would be a boring artist.
VOTES: He ends at 85%.
April Lockhart – “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls
She said the best part of this experience has been her ability to inspire people. You can feel the emotion when she sings, but I don’t think her vocals are that strong. She has some good notes, but not a complete performance.
VOTES: She ends with 71%.
Maneepat Molloy – “Stars” by Grace Potter and The Nocturnals
She said her sister is her best friend and gets so emotional on these shows! Her family moved to the U.S. when she was 15 years old to pursue her singing career. She has a good voice and hits some good notes with this performance.
VOTES: She ends with 68%.
Dana Williams – “Latch” by Disclosure
This is another West Coast Save, so will she make it worth it? She has a decent voice and does an alright performance, but it seems more on the boring side and I didn’t get the wow factor.
VOTES: She ends with 60%.
Alice Lee – “The Story” by Brandi Carlile
Her parents have both been on national TV, so they are having a blast with this all. She shows off a little bit of range with this song choice. I actually enjoy her, which means no one will be voting for her! How can a good singer not get any votes?
VOTES: She ends with 40%.
Jesse Kinch – “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes
He thinks he can be an introvert, but thinks this whole experience has helped him out. He is such a strong rocker and I love his voice. He comes out big time when he sings and this is over before we know it. He has a huge fan base out there and you can tell with the end voting totals on Rising Star 2014!
VOTES: He ends with 88%, which means Alice Lee is eliminated.
Megan Tibbits – “Home” by Marc Broussard
She is from a really small town in Michigan and they have been super supportive of her on the show. Here we go again, as I enjoy her and her voice. I thought she did great, but I guess no one else did!
VOTES: She ends with 32% and has been eliminated!
Lisa Punch – “Girl On Fire” by Alicia Keys
She was another West Coast Save during the Duel Rounds on Rising Star 2014! She has a great time with her performance and I love seeing that. She may behind that wall, but she is working the stage and those cameras. I love her voice and the accent that goes with it. She hits some big notes and I like it.
VOTES: She ends with 59% and has been eliminated!
Audrey Kate Geiger – “The Big Bang” by Rock Mafia
She left New Jersey and moved to the big city to pursue her music career. She has that indie sound to her voice and I love it. I am usually a fan of this style and I like this song.
VOTES: She ends with 65% and that sends home Macy Kate!
Austin French – “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys
He is getting married this week, so he is flying home and getting married and coming back! He has a good voice, but his performance face and hand movements bother me! He has a good arrangement of this song and he is cute, so he will be working it out on this show.
VOTES: He ends with 86% and Dana Williams has been eliminated!
Sonnet Simmons – “Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Ray
Another West Coast Save for us. Her Mom wasn’t always there for her as a kid, but she is here for her now. I was not a huge fan of her on her last performance, but I liked this song choice a lot more. She wasn’t screeching so much and she handles it much better. Because of that, no one votes for her!
VOTES: She ends with 29% and has been eliminated!
We still have one singer that will be saved by the West Coast, but what do you think of the results tonight on Rising Star 2014?
