While some people might be happy for the Rising Star 2014 finale tonight and seeing the winner of Rising Star Season 1 crowned, I am happy just to get this travesty done and over with. Each week I watch and hope it gets better, but it truly hasn’t. The voting system is flawed and makes no sense and the singers don’t seem to be improving at all, but I guess that is what you get when Kesha serves as one of the experts! So, who wins tonight on Rising Star on ABC? Watch with us tonight during our Rising Star 2014 Recap and see who won Rising Star 2014 tonight!

BRAD PAISLEY, KESHA, LUDACRIS

Last week on Rising Star Season 1, we saw the Top 6 take the stage and perform for your votes. It was a tight battle among the top three contestants, but then it was a battle between the bottom three singers to get the West Coast Save! When all was said and done, these are the four contestants taking the stage tonight on ABC’s Rising Star Audrey Kate Geiger, Austin French, Dana Williams and Jesse Kinch.

Here we go…things kick off with a performance by Brad Paisley and the final four! A fun start to the finale, huh? The apps are loaded and time to get this party started! How it works: we will have two duels tonight (Dana against Jesse and Austin against Audrey). The winners will advance to the final head-to-head competition and a winner crowned!

DUEL 1

DANA WILLIAMS: She meets with Kesha and they talk about branding and how she wants to look on stage. She sings “At Last” by Etta James. This girl has a decent voice, but she picks such huge songs and it is silly. Who told her she could take on Etta? Bad song choice and it shows with only getting to 30%.

JESSE KINCH: Has he ever finished below 80% this season? This seems pointless, but we see him performing with Brad Paisley during the week in New Jersey. He sings “Unfortunate Son” and he has such a strong, raspy rocker voice. I just wonder if he could have a career on his own or just singing covers? He ends with 87% and easily moves on to the final head-to-head!

DUEL 2

AUSTIN FRENCH: He gets some one-on-one time with Josh Groban. He talks about establishing that fan base and keeping in contact with them. He sings “In Love With a Girl” by Gavin DeGraw. This goes along the lines that who knows what kind of artist Austin will be if he wins. This is more rocker and he just annoys me. Figure it out, but he ends with 70%.

AUDREY KATE GEIGER: She heads to Ludacris’ house for her mentor session. Well, how about that? She sings “Love Me Like A Man” by Bonnie Raitt. This is her style and her voice fits this song so well. She was confident this whole performance and I was a huge fan of her. Of course, she only gets to 49% and that means she is eliminated and Austin moves on to the final head-to-head to take on Jesse, which we all knew would happen.

FINAL HEAD-TO-HEAD

They do the coin flip and Austin wins, so he picks to go second (good choice). We won’t see numbers during their performances, but find out the winner at the end of the show. Who are you rooting for?

JESSE KINCH: We take a look back at his time on the show this summer. He sings “Love, Reign O’er Me” by The Who. It has a very rough start to it, but he gets his screaming in there and it works out much better. As much as I have liked Jesse in the past, this was too much screaming for me and I just did not enjoy it.

AUSTIN FRENCH: We see his journey and family talk, but now to the final performance of the season! Have I mentioned that we have no clue what type of singer Austin French will be? Now he takes on country and sings “Bless The Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts and I am over him. At least Jesse knows he is a rocker. Austin has a good voice, but he needs to go home!

RESULTS: The experts think they are both winners for making it this far. They know no one watches this show, right???? In a 76% to 61% vote, the winner is Jesse Kinch!
