Last Comic Standing 2014 Recap: Top 8 – Talk Show Challenge

If anything, the comedians on Last Comic Standing 2014 can say they have worked with some of the best in the business, as they take on the Talk Show Challenge on Last Comic Standing Season 8 tonight and will get a chance to work with both Wanda Sykes and Ellen DeGeneres! How exciting for them? They will do interviews with the producers of Ellen’s talk show and three of them will get a chance to sit down with Ellen for an interview in front of a live audience! Last time on Last Comic Standing Season 8, we saw the Top 10 take on sketch comedy. While it was a good concept, the comedians did not execute very well. They did not perform very well and they were kind of rough to watch. In the end, Jimmy Shubert was voted as the weakest comedian and he picked Aida Rodriguez and Rod Man to go up against in the head-to-head challenge. The judges discussed and Jimmy and Aida were sent home during the double elimination!

Here we go…this challenge is called “Ready for the Big Time” and they will be a talk show guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Nikki said this is called a challenge, but it is actually a dream! They will all do pre-interviews with Ellen’s producers and they will pick three to go on the show with Ellen and then the studio audience will pick a winner.

Wanda comes on and talks about the pre-interview. They want to hear funny stuff and what they will be talking about. She said to keep it clean since it is daytime. Rod Man said his wife and kids love Ellen, so he can score some brownie points if he gets on the show! Karlous wants to bring Ellen a gift. Lachlan is wanting to show off his dance moves.

PRE-INTERVIEW: Lachlan is first and he starts with a funny joke and then goes on to talk about poop! Monroe is pretty good with his jokes. DC is doing all his characters. Nikki started bad, but got better but her voice is so dull. Karlous wants a job at Ellen. Rocky is good, but been doing radio interviews for years. Rod Man does well. Joe is a little loopy during his interview.

RESULTS: The producers have discussed and they picked Monroe, Rod Man and Nikki!!! The winner will get immunity in the next head-to-head challenge.

ELLEN INTERVIEW: Monroe is first and he wanted to introduce his dance, which took a little long and was not great. He actually does a good interview and has some good jokes. Nikki is excited to be there and is alright and comfortable, but she didn’t fully listen to Ellen or answer one of her questions. Rod Man is hilarious and I am loving him. Ellen is laughing and he is working it out!

RESULTS: The audience casts their votes for their favorites on Last Comic Standing 2014. The winner is Rod Man, but we all saw that coming, right?

HEAD-TO-HEAD VOTE: The votes are counted: Lachlan, Rocky, Lachlan, Lachlan, Karlous, Rocky, Lachlan and Lachlan. He has the most votes, so he will be performing in the head-to-head tonight. He has to pick someone that cast a vote against him, so he picks DC Benny and they will go head-to-head tonight!

HEAD-TO-HEAD COMPETITION: DC is up first and his story just went on and on to me. His impressions are good, but I was not impressed. Keenan said he did a good job and we see a different side of him every time. The wife story was too much and it felt rushed. Russell said the impressions are dead-on every time. Roseanne said he had a lot of lulls and wished he wanted it a little bit more.

I actually liked Lachlan tonight and his jokes were good and relatable. This was good stuff and he impressed me. Roseanne said he had more confidence this time and she loves his material. Russell said he likes watching him make him laugh and he spoke about things we all have problems with nowadays. Keenan said he has a funny take on the most mundane things and it is funny.

RESULTS: The Last Comic Standing judges 2014 discuss both comics and I think DC will be going home tonight. What do you think? The winner of this head-to-head is Lachlan and he remains in the competition and DC Benny has been eliminated!
