Last Comic Standing 2014 Recap: Top 10 – Sketchy Situation

We are finally moving on to the next round on Last Comic Standing 2014, as the Top 10 on Last Comic Standing Season 8 will start the Challenge Rounds tonight! Cheryl Hines will join the Top 10 and mentor them while working on an improv challenge. Last week on Last Comic Standing Season 8, it was Wanda Sykes that sat down with the comedians to give them some tips and pointers before taking the stage. Amy Schumer was gone, so just Wanda. To be honest, I think these sessions are a great benefit to the comedians. I mean, how great is it to be able to sit down and chat with comedians that have been doing it for years? They get advice on what to improve upon or lose in their sets and then get to show the judges what they have learned! In the end, five more comedians (Lachlan Patterson, Rocky LaPorte, DC Benny, Nikki Carr and Rod Man) moved on and 9 more comedians were eliminated!

Here we go…the comics are headed to Universal Studios to find out what the challenge is tonight! They meet JB Smoove and the first challenge is called “Sketchy Situation” and they will be working in teams to perform sketch comedy in front of a live audience. The winning team will get immunity. They will perform the same script in their own way. Team Flower: Rod Man, Jimmy, DC, Aida and Rocky. Team Snakes: Monroe, Joe, Karlous, Nikki and Lachlan. Cheryl Hines will be the mentor for tonight.

The teams start working on the scripts and getting their roles. Jimmy takes on a leader role and he feels they are strong and have some veterans on their team. Monroe is not reading and acting well and he has a lot of work to do, but Lachlan is right there with him! Jimmy is trying too hard and controlling the cue card people. Aida tries to take control and tells them to have some fun with it, but they are not taking her seriously.

PERFORMANCES: The teams are at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Team Sketchy Snakes is up first and they struggled with their rehearsal, so worried about this one. They had a rough start, but they got some laughs and the ball started rolling. Nikki did well with her character and they all did a decent job.

Team The Business is up now! Jimmy comes out with some high energy and they started strong, but then it seems to just fall apart! This was just a hot mess and they were all off. No chemistry among them and it was rough, but they feel they did a good job. Who do you think will be named the winner?

RESULTS: Cheryl said they all took notes very well and their characters were good, but they need to listen to each other. The Sketchy Snakes are the winners and they have immunity tonight on Last Comic Standing 2014! The Business will face elimination now!

ELIMINATION VOTE: The comics will now vote for who should be going home. They watch the votes together and we have Aida, Aida, Aida, Rocky, DC, Rod Man, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy and Jimmy! Jimmy will perform tonight and he will be going up against Aida and Rod Man because of technicalities. It would normally be Jimmy choosing who he goes up against, but four people voted for Jimmy and two had immunity, so it was left with Aida and Rod Man and now they will perform for the judges and hope for the best!

HEAD-TO-HEAD: The judges are in place and here we go! Jimmy is up first and I am just not a fan of him. Roseanne said he had great energy and great performance. Russell said he impressed the hell out of him, but maybe the audience didn’t connect. Keenan said he continued with the confidence and liked how he held to his material. Aida was alright, but she just wasn’t that strong. Russell said the energy in the room is low and she let that energy affect her. Roseanne said she let the audience throw her and she was not happy about it. Keenan said she has a different voice and she did a great job. Rod Man does a great job and I just love this guy. His delivery is so different and I am a fan! Keenan said the Rod Man never disappoints and he did a great job. Russell said his style is his style and no one could ever steal his material. Roseanne said she has never seen someone like him and he could go on for two hours and get non-stop laughs and she has great respect for his artistry!

Time for the Last Comic Standing judges 2014 to discuss and someone is eliminated. Who do you think it will be?

RESULTS: We have a double elimination tonight and the winner of the head-to-head tonight is Rod Man!!! That means Jimmy Shubert and Aida Rodriguez have been eliminated tonight!
