We have 100 hopeful comedians vying for a spot on the show and it all begins tonight! Follow along with our Last Comic Standing 2014 Recap and see who makes it and who got eliminated on Last Comic Standing 2014 tonight!
The comics this season will be judged by Roseanne Barr, Keenan Ivory Wayans and Russell Peters. JB Smoove wil serve as host and Wanda Sykes is a producer. They will also be put through different challenges every week, with guest mentors helping them along the way. It will be great to see Roseanne back on television and I love me some comedy, so this competition show is like no other and has produced some comics that are out touring the clubs every week!

Here we go…we start with JB Smoove kicking things off and we start with the Invitational Round, which 100 of the brightest comics were invited to perform for the Last Comic Standing judges 2014: Keenan Ivory Wayans, Russell Peters and Roseanne Barr. Let’s get it going!
Dave Landau – He is good and has some good jokes, but he is moving pretty quickly through his stuff. He got better as it went on and it slowed down and I am liking him! Roseanne said he is a cynic and not afraid of anything and she loves that. Russell said he has an original delivery and he is sarcastic and sharp and a very good set. Keenan said he was never able to predict where the punchline was going and he could win the $250,000.
Tracey Ashley – We see a video package of her, so she must be making the live shows, huh? She is a college comedian and makes her way around the country performing at colleges. She had a good set and she made me laugh out loud a couple times! Roseanne said she is the real deal. Russell said there is nothing struggling about her when she performs and she has great jokes. Keenan said she was elegant and really funny and it was great.
Guy Branum – He used to work on Chelsea Lately and I loved him, so this should be good to see. This was a good set and he had some good jokes in there and great delivery! Roseanne said he did not disappoint and it was great. Russell said he liked his take on sports. Keenan said he wants to know all his life experiences, so Guy said to take him to dinner! His interaction with the judges was spot-on!
David Waite, Phoebe Robinson, Rob Christensen and Mark Normand all get some quick camera time on Last Comic Standing 2014. They all had a good joke, but probably won’t make it through.
Rod Man – He has a funny delivery and his jokes are current and I like them. Again, I laughed out loud for this one! Roseanne said she has thought those same things. Russell said he built that set like a boxer going for the knockout. Keenan said the attitude behind it was great, but there was a point where he got too wordy.
Lynne Koplitz – Another package video, she has had development deals and shows out there. Joan Rivers has been her mentor, so we know Lynne is making it on the show. She has a good set and I am loving her. Keenan said at the beginning she sounded like Joan Rivers, but it did not seem to fit her. Roseanne said she liked the aging woman thing a lot. Russell said she was very engaging.
Dave Stone – He lives out of van! He said he lives out of his van because he was serious about his comedy career and didn’t want any obligations like normal people, like rent and bills. He has a gym membership for $10/week and uses it to shower not workout! His set was alright and made me chuckle, but nothing crazy funny. Roseanne thought he was funny and liked his material. Keenan said he needs to keep putting his point of view on his jokes. Russell said he owned it and he is who he is.
Erik Rivera, Andi Smith, Tim Northern and Aida Rodriguez give us some quick jokes and I really liked Aida, but were any of them good enough to make the live shows?
Joe Machi – His delivery is great. His voice is so weird, but he makes it work and his style is funny. It is awkward, but a funny awkward. Roseanne asked if it was real or a character. She said it is good. Keenan thought he wouldn’t like him at first, but the writing was so clever. Russell said he built and built and he was wow, I did not see that coming.
The judges will now discuss and determine who makes the semifinals on Last Comic Standing 2014! The comics advancing to the semifinals are:
- Tracey Ashley
- Mark Normand
- Dave Landau
- Aida Rodriguez
- Joe Machi
- Rod Man
Does that mean all the other comics are headed home??? We are now into the second hour of the show and here we go!
Erin Jackson – She is very comfortable on stage and her jokes are good. They are relatable jokes and real world stuff and I like her. Roseanne said she is very likable and likes her command of her space. Russell said she was very poised and calm and she believes in her jokes. Keenan said he liked everything about her and she was just her.
Jimmy Shubert – He has been doing stand-up for 25 years now! He is hoping to win Last Comic Standing Season 8 for validation. He has good stage presence and is comfortable, but his jokes are just alright to me. Russell said he has been a fan of his for a few years and he is a force. Roseanne said all of his material is great and his delivery is great. Keenan said he is every single joke.
Lachlan Patterson – He lives in California and surfs all day and does comedy at night. He walks dogs to pay the rent! He does jokes about eating at a buffet, but I can’t relate when he weighs like 100 pounds! Roseanne said those were the best buffet jokes ever and she thinks he is in it. Russell said he crafted a great set for the show. Keenan said from the gate he was funny and he loved his point of view.
Gloria Bigelow, Patrick Susmilch, Shakir Standley and Mike Vecchione have some fast moments and they are alright.
Jasper Redd – I am liking his style and his delivery, but his jokes aren’t that strong to me. Russell said the audience speaks for what he just did and he has funny takes on what we take for granted. Keenan said he enjoyed his set and he definitely walked on the edge. Roseanne said he was transcendent and she enjoyed it.
Ben Kronberg – He comes out and checks his cell phone and notebook and asked if people get to their jobs and start right away. Roseanne said she thinks he wasted a lot of time up there. She said he is real arrogant and it pisses her off. Keenan said what he did was gimmicky. Russell said his first joke took too long and it was old. He is rude and Roseanne said go f*** yourself!!!
Dana Eagle – She started strong and I thought she would be good, but then the jokes got weaker as she went on. She ended stronger though and I am torn on this one. Russell said he enjoyed it quite a bit and would like to see what else she has. Roseanne thought it was fantastic and wants to hear more about her and growing up and what made her her today. Keenan said he thought she was a female Woody Allen and it was fun to watch.
Pat Regan, Bob Kubota, Chase Bernstein, Michael Somerville and Tyree Elaine did some quick jokes on Last Comic Standing 2014 and I liked them all!
Nick Guerra – This is the last comic of the night! They did save a good one for last. He has good style and his jokes were funny. Keenan said he had the toughest spot and he did a great job. Roseanne said he got to it right away and his delivery is fierce and wants to hear a lot more from him. Russell said he went to war tonight and he won that war.
JB Smoove said the judges will now discuss who moves on to the semifinals and who will be driving home with Ben Kronberg! The comics moving on to the semifinals on Last Comic Standing 2014 are:
- Dana Eagle
- Nick Guerra
- Erin Jackson
- Mike Vecchione
- Jasper Redd
- Lachlan Patterson
- Tyree Elaine
- Jimmy Shubert
