Hunted ratings started out strong for CBS with Sunday’s series premiere as the new reality show followed the AFC Championship game giving it a strong lead in help kick things off.

As TVbytheNumbers reports, CBS announced the show garnered 11.83 million viewers in its debut making it likely the biggest start to a series this season.

Initially reporting things at 10.7 million viewers and a 3.6 rating the numbers climbed to a 4.0 rating for adults 18-49 along with the extra 1.1 million viewers for the Hunted premiere. Now the real trick will be for Hunted to hold on to those viewers when things shift in its schedule over to Wednesday nights at 8PM ET/PT starting this week.

THR points out this was the best series premiere for a Reality TV show since 2011 when X-Factor came crashing in on FOX with Simon Cowell’s short lived return to American TV post-Idol, but only when looking at the key demo for 18-49. When compared for wider viewership the top recent title goes to last year’s Little Big Shots.

Fingers crossed for Hunted that it can continue to deliver both ratings and entertainment. So far it kept me entertained but we’ve got a long way to go in the season with sixteen of the original eighteen runners still in the competition. Will you keep tuning in to watch?
