The Great Food Truck Race 2014 Spoilers - Week 4

It was all about working with partners last week on Great Food Truck Race Season 5, as the teams put their truck keys in a bowl and drew for partners! They would have to work, side-by-side, with these trucks and make sure they were bringing in people to both trucks. For part of the day, Tyler even had them switch trucks and they were forced with preparing the dishes on their partners’ truck! In the end, Military Moms had the lowest till and were eliminated. Tonight it is all about the steaks in Oklahoma City!

Here we go…the teams are getting to Oklahoma City and Beach Cruiser is talking menu and they are going to throw some fried food items in there to serve this city better. Let There Be Bacon has been improving every week and they hope to keep the momentum going. Lone Star Chuck Wagon feels good about their food, so they are sticking with the plan. Madres Mexican Meals had a bad time in Austin and only survived by $6, so they are going to reevaluate everything!

The teams meet Tyler Florence and he said that timing is huge in this business and how long it takes to take an order and get that order out. They will all be adding a steak dish to their menu and will get $400 seed money for their till to get steaks!

They head out to do some shopping and Bacon is over by $100! They have to start returning items. Middle Feast shopped in 14 minutes! Bacon gets below $400, but it took some time. Bricktown seems like a hot spot in Oklahoma City, so all the trucks trying to get there. Because of that, all the teams are selling on the same street. The teams are all trying to cut down on prep time and the lines are forming and customers losing patience.

The teams are moving along and getting food out, but Tyler calls in with a Speed Bump! He was checking the time for everyone and when they sold their first dish, which was Madres Mexican Meals! They get to keep selling and everyone else has to close their trucks! They will reopen every 15 minutes depending on how soon they served food. Beach Cruise is so catty and I just hate how they talk bad about the other teams. The guy is out telling people that Madres has no prep time and just slaps their food together….jealous much?

We see 15 minutes pass and Lone Star opens back up and then another 15 minutes and it is Middle Feast that gets to open again. Bacon is next to open their doors, so Beach Cruiser is last and will have the doors closed for one hour! Why would anyone wait in line for that long?

Madress sees the foot traffic slow down, so they head to the race track and see what they have to offer them. Middle Feast is doing a combo deal, which is selling well. Beach Cruiser heads to Midtown, an up-and-coming area, and see if they can do more sales there. Bacon seems pumped with their sales for the day and they just sold their 200th ticket. Madres is not doing well with sales at the race track, but everyone else seems pumped with their first day sales!

Day 2 comes and the trucks are out selling and so far, so good. Tyler calls and it is time for the Truck Stop cooking challenge. Oklahoma City is famous for their “fried onion burger,” which is two parts beef and one part onions! This challenge is about timing and how soon they can get them prepped and sold. When they sell 50, then they call Tyler. First place team will get $500 and second place gets $250.

The teams head out to learn how to make the burgers. The teams get their meat and meat grinder, so they’ll be grinding their own meat for these burgers! Madres is keeping the fat on the beef when grinding! The teams start selling burgers. Lone Star had no customers at the sporting goods store, so they move and have a lot of burgers to sell and time in running out. Beach Cruiser sells all 50 of their burgers….ugh, so they get the $500 for their till. Middle Feast gets their 50 sold and get $250 for their till. Bacon gets their 50 sold, but they are third and get no money! 8:30pm rolls around and Lone Star and Madres did not sell 50, so Tyler calls and they have to pack it up and hope for the best!

RESULTS: The teams are back in front of Tyler Florence and time to find out the results and the losing team would have been in first place in any of the other cities this season! The totals on Great Food Truck Race 2014 tonight are:

  • First place with $6,220 is Middle Feast
  • Second place with $5,580 is Beach Cruiser
  • Third place with $5,072 is Let There Be Bacon
  • Fourth place with $4,646 is Lone Star Chuck Wagon

That means Madres Mexican Meals had the lowest amount this week and have been eliminated from the race!
