Tyler Florence is back with the teams on The Great Food Truck Race 2014 and they are making their way to Austin, which Lone Star Chuck Wagon was very excited to find out last week on The Great Food Truck Race Season 5. It won’t be a normal challenge though, as the six remaining teams will be paired up for one day and then will be switching trucks the next day and cooking their competitor’s food! Watch it all go down tonight with us during our Great Food Truck Race 2014 Recap and see who went home on Great Food Truck Race 2014 tonight!

Great Food Truck Race 2014 Spoilers - Week 3

The teams are getting more and more used to their new trucks, as we saw last week on Great Food Truck Race 2014. We saw the teams make their way to Tucson and took on cooking for the local college kids. They had to work on their marketing, which included making a jingle to perform in front of the fair crowd! All the sales were up for the week, but Gourmet Graduates ended up with the least amount of money in their till and were eliminated!

Here we go…the teams are heading to Austin and Beach Cruiser wants to beat Lone Star Chuck Wagon in their backyard like they did in Venice. Military Moms doesn’t think as much military presence in Austin as in Tucson, so they are a little worried.

The teams meet Tyler Florence and he said the city loves food trucks and he allows them to have an open menu this week. They will get $250 in seed money, but have to leave their truck keys in the pot! They are working on partnerships this week and he will draw keys, who then get to pick their partners. Lone Star Chuck Wagon picks Military Moms. Let There Be Bacon picks Middle Feast. That means Beach Cruiser and Madres Mexican Meals are partnered up. They will be working right next to each other, but responsible for their own sales and till box. They are partners until Tyler tells them differently.

The teams on Great Food Truck Race 2014 head to the store and get their food. Middle Feast said they have to cut down on their prep time and start serving quicker! Every other team is out the door, but Madres Mexican Meals is still shopping, so Greta from Beach Cruiser goes to help them to speed it up.

The teams head out and are looking for spots to park. They get to their spots and cooking it up. Beach Cruiser and Madres partnered with a bar, but no one is there….well, it is the middle of the day! The other teams seem to be doing well, but the show seems to be highlighting Military Moms tonight. Do you think that means they will be eliminated tonight???

Tyler calls with a Speed Bump and they are going to a Match.com Speed Dating event and they will be the exclusive food for the event. They have $25 chips for their meals, so no matter what the teams sell their dishes for, they will get that chip for their till. The teams pack up and head down the road to the dating event.

Beach Cruiser thinks they are at an advantage, as they are young and “pretty” and working the crowd. Madres is giving out free samples, which is helping bring people to their truck. Lone Star is doing a combo deal, so more food for their $25. Bacon is out there and singing and he is working the crowd well. Military Moms are selling nothing and want to pack up, but Lone Star says no.

The Match.com event has ended and the trucks are back out trying to work the Austin crowd. Bacon and Middle Feast get a spot by a festival, so they are doing well, but the other trucks are not doing well. Lone Star and Military Moms talk about moving, but Military Moms think it is prime time coming soon and don’t want to move. Beach Cruiser and Madres have done nothing all day, so Military Moms have some competition for last place! Matt is in pain on Bacon and his back and feet are killing him, so they offer to get him new shoes. Day 1 is done and no one is really feeling confident on this one!

The next day arrives and Bacon and Middle Feast talked with the festival workers and got exclusive rights to the festival. Well, Beach Cruiser and Madres come in and they got approval too! The other trucks are pissed and talk to their guy, but the fesitval director gave them approval and he likes the competition! Bacon and Middle Feast are pissed, but they say karma! Military Moms and Lone Star are still making no money!

Tyler calls and it is time for the new challenge, as they will have Truck Stop Truck Swap! They will switch trucks and sell their partners food and make the money for their own till. Team that makes the most gets $500, second place team gets $250 and third place is $100.

The teams learn about each other’s menus and here we go! Beach Cruiser is liking it and everyone wants Mexican food! The teams work it out, but Tyler calls and the challenge has ended and the teams get their trucks back and not partnered up any more, so they can go wherever they want. The teams all stick together with their partners and Tommy from Middle Feast has been working very well with Bacon. They have a good spot and head out.

Meanwhile, Beach Cruiser and Madres are back in the bar parking lot, but it is Sunday and they give out FREE food on Sundays! Who is going to buy when you can get free? The spot from Tommy is not great, as Bacon and Middle Feast are struggling. The time is running out and teams are trying to sell what they have left. Lone Star and Military Moms are not feeling confident about their sales for the weekend.

RESULTS: The teams are back in front of Tyler and the teams sold a little over $11,000 for the weekend, which is $6,000 less than the weekend before! For the Truck Swap Challenge, Bacon sold the most and win the $500. Beach Cruiser got second for $250 and Middle Feast and Military Moms tied for third, so they both got $100. Now for the results:

  • First place with $2,808 is Beach Cruiser
  • Second place with $2,247 is Middle Feast
  • Third place with $2,175 is Let There Be Bacon
  • Fourth place with $1,724 is Lone Star Chuck Wagon

This leaves us with Military Moms and Madres Mexican Meals as the bottom two teams and they were separated by only $6! Madres finished in fifth, which means Military Moms are eliminated tonight, like I said earlier in the recap! The show will donate the equivalent of their earnings this week to the Wounded Warrior Project, which is awesome! The teams will now be heading to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma!
