ABC’s The Taste Live Recap: Newest Cooking Show Premieres On ABC
| January 22, 2013 at 7:00 PM ESTWith Anthony Bourdain as a judge, ABC is hoping to get into the cooking competition business when The Taste 2013 premieres tonight. Unlike other cooking shows, this one has the contestants create their dishes and present them to the judges (Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Brian Malarkey and Ludo Lefebvre) on one spoon for each of them! One spoon and one taste and hopes of moving on in ABC’s The Taste competition. Will The Taste on ABC survive? Not sure, but check out how the premiere goes during my ABC’s The Taste Live Recap and see who makes it on The Taste 2013.
Anthony Bourdain is known for being outspoken and loud, so ABC is hoping to gain some of his followers for their new show. It seems like an odd concept, but it can be something new and different and it just might work. But is The Taste 2013 different? The professional and amateur chefs will create their dishes, but they must present them to the judges on one spoon. That means a taste by the judges and that is all they get, but isn’t that what a normal judge does on these cooking competition shows? I don’t remember seeing Gordon Ramsay going into the dishes for 12 bites on MasterChef!
After The Taste auditions are done, the judges will create teams of four chefs that will compete in elimination challenges and team challenges in hopes of creating the best tasting dish! Who will win The Taste 2013? Find out who moves on during my ABC’s The Taste Live Recap and see who moves on on The Taste 2013!
Besides Anthony Bourdain, do any of you know who these judges are?
The first contestant of the night is Adam Kaswiner who seems to mention awesome and awesomeness a lot, but will he live up to it? The chefs taste it and think it is revolting, so I think it is a no? All the judges are disgusted and send Adam home.
We have a food blogger give it a try, as Sarah Schiear takes her 60 minutes to try to impress the judges. She takes on scallops, which are always a chef’s biggest nightmare! Nigella is not a fan, but the other judges seem interested. They reveal the chef and Ludo and Brian want her on their team. Sarah decides to go with Team Ludo on The Taste 2013!
When we have to learn this much information on the judges and who they are, should they really be judges?
Kyle Schutte: Chicken Fried Watermelon and the judges were impressed and hate that they all voted no before meeting him.
Khristianne Uy: Describes themselves as the Kanye West of cooking. He cooks for Charlie Sheen and Brian liked it, so he is on Team Brian. If he is a guy or a girl, I don’t know.
Jeanette Friedman: she is 64 years old and a journalist. The judges all give great praise for these contestants, but then all vote no. I am so over The Taste!
Todd: voted hottest chef in Miami. The judges went on and on how they said they needed him on their team when he was revealed, however they all voted no. This show is almost half over and I am so confused!
Renatta Lindsey: she is a homecook and annoying me already. Comfort food won over Nigella and she joins Team Nigella.
The next contestant makes a Lamb Medallion. Marcus is a professional chef. Nigella loved it and found it comforting, but didn’t taste the meat and she says no and all the other judges agree and Marcus goes home.
Mia Morgenstern: she thinks she is smart and use big words and has a crush on Anthony. The judges were shocked that she was a homecook and not professional, yet they all turned her down except Anthony. She joins her crush’s team!
More to come…
