Top Chef Kentucky 2019 Live Recap: Week 10 – Who Was Eliminated?
| February 7, 2019 at 7:00 PM ESTYou had to know that Top Chef Kentucky 2019 would be making their way to Rupp Areana for one of the challenges, right? That happens tonight on Top Chef Season 16, as the chefs will be taking place in a challenge at the home of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and Coach John Calipari will be in attendance to help! Watch with us tonight during our Top Chef Kentucky 2019 Live Recap and see who went home on Top Chef Season 16 tonight!
Last week on Top Chef Season 16, the chefs headed to Nashville and had to cook a dish for a mystery musician based solely on their contract rider. In the end, it was for Hunter Hayes, who also served as a judge for the Quickfire Challenge. Adrienne won the challenge and was able to get a one-hour advantage of cooking in the Elimination Challenge. For that challenge, the chefs had to create a dish based on a music memory. We had some emotional dishes, but we also had some salty dishes! David created a dish that was a one-note and one-texture dish, so the judges eliminated him and he headed off to Last Chance Kitchen.
Who goes home tonight on Top Chef 2019? Find out in our Live Recap that follows!

Here we go….
Quickfire Challenge
The chefs meet Padma Lakshmi, who is with Top Chef alum Ed Lee. For this challenge, they will work together to break into a box that contains bouillon cubes (beef, chicken and vegetable). They have 35 minutes to unlock the box and then cook a dish using it as their only seasoning. The winner gets a major advantage in the Elimination Challenge.
Results
After tasting all the dishes, we find out that the least favorite dishes tonight came from Michelle and Justin. The favorite dishes tonight on Top Chef Kentucky 2019 came from Sara, Eddie and Eric. The winning dish came from Eddie!
Elimination Challenge
It is going to be a 3-on-3 challenge. There are seven chefs left, so that means for winning, Eddie gets immunity this week and will not be cooking, which he is stoked about! The chefs will be heading to Rupp Arena, home of the University of Kentucky basketball team! They will be serving to an arena full of fans, so eliminated chefs will come back to help. Each team must serve three courses to the arena of fans and compete for the most points from the fans. The teams are:
- White Team – Eric, Adrienne and Justin
- Blue Team – Sara, Michelle and Kelsey
The teams have 15 minutes to plan their dishes before heading out to the store to do some shopping. It seems Sara and Adrienne will both be making chicken and waffles tonight. The next day comes and the chefs arrive at Rupp Arena. For the White Team, they have Brian and Caitlin helping them cook today. For the Blue Team, they have David and Kevin helping them cook. The fryer doesn’t seem to be working for the Blue Team.
Tasting
The stadium is full and they make a huge deal with the teams arriving, as the judges are on the court and the cheerleaders are there to cheer them all on. Time to serve:
- DISH 1 (Kelsey vs. Adrienne) – Tom said they are both great dishes. Graham said the chicken and waffles were light. The judges voted and it was the Blue Team winning this round.
- DISH 2 (Sara vs. Eric) – Adrienne threw Sara under the bus earlier, so Tom asked if she made her waffles out of a box and the White Team gets the crowd roaring against Sara. It may have factored into it, but the White Team sweeps this one and ties it 1-1 now.
- DISH 3 (Michelle vs. Justin) – Tom loved the burger and thought Michelle’s dish was very good. The lack of bun for Justin may hurt him? Another sweep for the White Team, so the lack of a bun did not affect him and the White Team wins this challenge 2-1!
Judges’ Table
The chefs stand in front of the judges on Top Chef 2019 and they truly seemed to love all of the dishes from the White Team. However, only one dish could win and that dish came from Eric! They are all winners though, as each of them will receive $5,000!
For the Blue Team, the waffle was too soft from Sara. The ribs ate a little wet for the judges from Michelle. Kelsey won her round, so that has to be a positive for her staying tonight.
Results
The judges discussed the dishes and Padma said they were all tasty dishes, but it came down to either the bad waffles from Sara or the bad ribs from Michelle. After discussing, Michelle was eliminated tonight on Top Chef Season 16 and now she heads off to Last Chance Kitchen!
