The X Factor USA 2013 Finale Performances Spoilers Recap (VIDEO)

It is the week of finales for the singing competition shows, as The Voice USA 2013 came to an end last night and tonight starts the two-night finale of The X Factor USA 2013! We are down to the final three acts (Alex & Sierra, Carlito Olivero and Jeff Gutt) and they will each be taking on three songs tonight to win over your votes on The X Factor USA Season 3. Last week on The X Factor Season 3, the final four acts took the stage and tried to sing their hearts out for you. To be honest, I think it is going to be a battle to the end between Jeff Gutt and Akex & Sierra, so what happened with the other two acts didn’t matter. Many were shocked to see Restless Road go home, but it was either last week or this week for them! That left us with our finalists on The X Factor USA 2013 and we could see an interesting night of performances tonight!

Here we go…I just love how this show does things so over-the-top! That commercial to start the show was too much and leads into a performance of “We Will Rock You” by Queen. I know it is only to waste time, but I don’t enjoy the group performances on The X Factor USA 2013. Anyone else? The acts will be taking on three songs tonight: favorite performance of the season, celebrity duet and $1 million song.

Round 1 – Song To Win It

Carlito Olivero (Boys) – “Impossible” by Shontelle

We have to hear, yet again, that things like this don’t happen for kids where he is from. Yes, it is a sad story, but I am sick of hearing about it. If they have such a hard life and they need the money, how can his parents afford to be there every week? They know the Spanish lyrics do it for people and they work them into this performance. The song didn’t show off much of his range, but still a pretty good performance from him to start the show.

Alex & Sierra (Groups) – “Give Me Love” by Ed Sheeran

Simon Cowell said he really wanted to do groups because of them. He said the last two weeks have been amazing. They are super cute together, but is it overdone too? Sierra kicks the song off and sounds great. They bring it together and sound even better. Then Alex takes over and sounds great. A good song choice and Alex is looking very yummy for this performance!

Jeff Gutt (Over 25s) – “Dream On” by Aerosmith

I don’t know if you heard it or not, but Jeff is a single father and he is doing this for him. Kelly Rowland said that he wants this the most and works so hard. Watching Jeff with Kelly and the story, it does bring tears to my eyes. You always have to root for the Over 25s because they have that story of trying and trying. While I talk highly of him, then he comes out and gives an okay performance. It had that rock element to it, but I don’t think it was anything special.

Before getting to Round 2 on The X Factor USA 2013 finale, we get a special performance from judge Paulina Rubio. Is this for real right now? I have never seen her perform, but how could one of the judges on a singing competition come on and perform and lip sync? This is beyond pathetic and her actions do not align with anything she is singing. She is so excited, yet her vocals don’t ever change and are so manufactured by a computer!

Round 2 – Celebrity Duets

Carlito Olivero with Prince Royce – “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King

To be honest, I had never heard of Prince Royce until this performance, but he is easy on the eyes too! This was a very great performance and showing their Latino pride. They worked in the Spanish lyrics into it and it was fun to watch and they did good!

Alex & Sierra with Leona Lewis – “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis

You really haven’t heard much from her, but I was a fan of her music before she disappeared. I’ll be honest with this one and it was not very good. It was awkward, as they sing a love song and it is the three of them on the stage. I think there was too much going on and the background singers were overpowering during the chorus. I love these two, but not a great performance there!

Jeff Gutt with John Rzeznik of The Goo Goo Dolls – “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls

This was a cool performance and I will even say that Jeff sounded better singing it! How many of you used to have crushes on John Rzeznik and ashamed of that tonight? I thought he looked like hell and definitely showing his age! The rocker life has not worked well with him!

Round 3 – Song of the Season

Carlito Olivero (Boys) – “Maria, Maria” by Santana

I guess this was a defining moment for Carlito on The X Factor USA 2013, but it was not for me. Not a fan of this performance, but he is working it with that Latin flare tonight. It was good, but why did they end the night with performances we have seen before?

Alex & Sierra (Groups) – “Say Something” by A Great Big World

If they did not pick this song, I would have questioned them and their mentor! I am in love with this song and these two do it so much justice. So, maybe the reason they saved these performances for last was to show off this song for Alex & Sierra before voting opens up on The X Factor 2013?

Jeff Gutt (Over 25s) – “Creep” by Radiohead

This one started so rough for me. I could not understand what he was even saying and it made no sense. Finally as the song went on and was ending, it got more clear and he sounded good. Not the greatest of song choices to end the night with though!
