The Voice - Season 6

Last week on The Voice USA Season 6, it was time for the Top 5 to take the stage and show us what they had going on. For the performances, they actually performed two songs: one that represented their hometown and one picked for them by their coach. All five of the artists had a good night on iTunes, but then the results show took place and Carson Daly informed us that the Voice Save would still be in play. I bet Christina Grimmie was happy to hear that, as she was saved by America and Kat Perkins and Kristen Merlin were eliminated!

Here we go…we start with a look back at the journeys of the Top 3 and their road to this moment!

Round 1

Christina Grimmie (Team Adam) – “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus

This was America’s pick for her, as she performed this one during her Blind Audition. I really enjoyed Christina when she first sang this song and have grown to be annoyed by her as the season as gone on. This brought me back to liking her and she nailed this song again!

Josh Kaufman (Team Usher) – “Every Breath You Take” by The Police

Josh takes the stage one more time with his coach, Usher, to perform this song. I just love Josh’s voice and it works so well on this song. They do well together and they harmonize well together. These are just supposed to be fun performances of the night on The Voice USA 2014, but they work it out.

Jake Worthington (Team Blake) – “Don’t Close Your Eyes” by Keith Whitley

America picked his Blind Audition song for him to redo and he would like to make it full circle with this performance. I think Jake is a great guy and has a great country voice, but I just can’t see him winning this show. I think this was a very good performance from him, but is it a winning performance? I am not sure.

Before Round 2 starts, we get to see Shakira and Blake Shelton take the stage to perform “Medicine” off Shakira’s new album. She is proving again that she can sing live and this was a good song and who would have thought that with this combination?

Round 2

Josh Kaufman (Team Usher) – “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder

This was his choice by America, which came during the Battle Rounds and was the time when Usher stole him away! This may have been the moment when I fell in love with Josh Kaufman on The Voice USA 2014. This song is perfect for him and for his voice and he nails it again!

Christina Grimmie (Team Adam) – “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotya

Christina takes the stage with her coach, Adam Levine, for this song. I think this was a great song choice for both of their voices and Christina is showing us that she wants to win this thing tonight, but Josh is standing right there with it at the finish line. Great performance from Christina and great song choice by Adam!

Jake Worthington (Team Blake) – “Right Here Waiting” by Richard Marx

This was a great song choice for Jake and he delivered big time on this one. He made this into a country song and hits the lyrics and emotions perfectly. I do just want to sit back and root for him!

Before we get to the final round of performances of the night, another performance. This time it is Usher and Adam Levine taking the stage to perform “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” by D’Angelo. Yeah, take a moment and take all of that in and all that sex appeal!

Round 3

Jake Worthington (Team Blake) – “A Country Boy Can Survive” by Hank Williams, Jr.

I love seeing the package videos between these two and seeing Blake give Jake such a hard time. You know he is doing it because he truly cares about Jake. This was a fun song choice and it worked with both of their voice, They have fun and Jake is sounding good and deep on this one!

Christina Grimmie (Team Adam) – “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley

I cover all the shows and I am so sick of seeing American Idol and The Voice artists all doing the same songs. Jena Irene did this song for Top 4 Week and now Christina Grimmie is doing it? Sure, she does a good job with it, but I think Jena Irene did this one better. This was a huge performance from her and now it seems like Christina is overshadowed by it!

Josh Kaufman (Team Usher) – “Set Fire To The Rain” by Adele

This was a ballsy song choice for him, but I think it can work out to benefit him. He just has that weird sound to his voice and he makes it work on every song and this was no different. This was a big performance and a great end to the night!

The performances are done for tonight! Who are you voting for tonight?
