The Voice - Season 7

Last week on The Voice USA Season 7, we kicked things off with the live shows and the Top 12 on The Voice 2014 took the stage and performed for your votes. There were some amazing performances, including Matt McAndrew on Team Adam. He was so good he even cracked the Top 10 on the iTunes charts! Needless to say, he was safe during the results show on Tuesday. The Voice Save was back and America tweeted to save Ryan Sill from Team Gwen, which meant that Jessie Pitts from Team Blake and Sugar Joans from Team Pharrell were eliminated!

Here we go…things kick off with a cool performance by the Top 10, which is not normal? I liked it though! Now on to the performances!

Matt McAndrew (Team Adam) – “Fix You” by Coldplay

Adam said that Matt’s voice reminds him of Chris Martin, so I guess that is why he picked a Coldplay song! I am a big fan of his voice and he does have a Chris Martin sound to it. He had the slow start, which showed off the range he can go to. He then picked it up and went into audience. While I thought it was cool, it felt like it may have distracted him at time. Still a great performance.

Anita Antoinette (Team Gwen) – “Let Her Go” by Passenger

Gwen said this sounds like something she would do if she did a record, but Anita was struggling during rehearsals and picking up the song. She sings it with Gwen and the rest is history. I love the vibe from Anita and this was such a fun song and performance. I love the reggae vibe she put on the song and she did good.

Damien (Team Adam) – “You and I” by Stevie Wonder

This one was boring to me and he was so slow and blah to start the song. I am not the biggest fan of Damien, but people like him. He kicked it in at the end, which is probably what everyone will remember and will vote for him. He does get a standing ovation from all four coaches.

Reagan James (Team Blake) – “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea

Is Blake there to tell her that this is a terrible song choice for her???? This was such a hot mess and I am a big fan of Reagan! This song doesn’t allow her to sing, but rap the lyrics and her voice doesn’t mix well with it at all. I am so disappointed with this one tonight on The Voice USA 2014!

Luke Wade (Team Pharrell) – “Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding

It did not go well last week and he started the song a couple beats ahead of the music, but Diana Ross is there as an advisor and said she screws up the lyrics every now and then still! I still loved his performance last week and I love this one tonight. His voice has this soulful sound to it and he worked it out on this song and showed us all the confidence he may have lacked last week!

Craig Wayne Boyd (Team Blake) – “I Walk The Line” by Johnny Cash

Blake said guys like Craig will be the one taking the torch in country music and he doesn’t wear panties, but wanted to throw his panties at him during rehearsals! He did take such a classic country song and made it his own. He put his twist on it and this was so good. Craig is sexy and will get a lot of panties thrown at him after this show is done! The final note was a little overkill to me.

Ryan Sill (Team Gwen) – “Starlight” by Muse

He was close to going home last week, but he got the Voice Save. Will he make it worth it tonight? Well, I am not sure what he is wearing right now. I have said it all season long. He has a good voice, but there is nothing special about him. I am not blown away and was not blown away tonight. Were you?

DaNica Shirey (Team Pharrell) – “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston

She got to meet her hero Clive Davis this week and is now taking on a Whitney song? This is a big one, but can she handle it? I think DaNica has a great voice and is such a strong singer, but Whitney is big for anyone to take on. She does a good job and hits some good notes though. On a side note, take out that damn piercing in your cheek!

Taylor John Williams (Team Gwen) – “Come Together” by The Beatles

Have I mentioned that I just love this guy? Taylor has such a cool style and he said he was going to get nerdy with this one and what he wanted to do, but I loved it. He is such a strong performer and he just owned that stage and this song. I just want him to win and he definitely has my vote!

Chris Jamison (Team Adam) – “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson

I am a huge believer that song choice is huge on these singing competition shows and Chris and Adam nailed it on this one! This was so fun and Chris sang it so well and he showed a new side of himself. He is a sexy beast and this is going to win over a lot of fans tonight on The Voice USA Season 7. Great job, Chris!

The performances are done for tonight! Who are you voting for?
