MasterChef 2015 Spoilers - Week 4 Recap

Last week on Master Chef Season 6, it was time for the first team challenge of the season. The home cooks headed out to the amusement park and were cooking burgers and fish and chips for the guests. We saw some bumps in the road, but both teams completed the task. From there, the losing team faced a Pressure Test of making 12 cinnamon rolls. Only five of the home cooks took part in it and we saw Tommy struggle, but Darah had some raw rolls and she did not deliver as team captain, so the judges sent her home!

Here we go…

MYSTERY BOX CHALLENGE – Under the box tonight is crab and they have 60 minutes to make an amazing crab dish and Chef Ramsay said the advantage tonight is huge! Olivia has never made crab before, so she asks Chef Ramsay some questions regarding it. Jesse and Charlie seem to be in their comfort zone with this one. The judges have been watching and tasting as they go and will now taste three of the dishes,

  • Amanda – Chef Ramsay said crab cake is delicious and they are cooked beautifully. Graham said delicious, but maybe adding some heat. Christina said very bright flavors and a really great job.
  • Olivia – Graham said it is one of the prettiest plates out there tonight. He said very flavorful and very strong and it is cohesive. Chef Ramsay said delicious and it shows great finesse.
  • Jesse – Christina said the soup is very delicious and could stand on its own, as the side slaw is alright. Chef Ramsay said dumplings delicious and he can cook and he needs to cook like this every time he comes to the kitchen.

RESULTS – The judges discuss the three dishes and they pick Jesse as the winner!

ELIMINATION TEST – The judges say he isn’t going back to the pantry tonight, but his advantage is right there in the kitchen and they ask him who he wants to send through those MasterChef 2015 doors! Um, what??? He picks Stephen, but then we find out that was all a bluff and he picks these advantages right then that could happen.

Jesse will not be cooking tonight and they looking into a box that glows when Graham opens it. They won’t know what the ingredient is until they go into the pantry, but Jesse gets to pick whether the home cooks will cook a savory or sweet dish. He decides to weed out the weak links, so he gives the weaker home cooks sweet and the better home cooks savory. In the pantry, the ingredient is corn! How do you make a sweet corn dish, besides cornbread??? They have 60 minutes to make their sweet or savory dish!

The home cooks get started and Graham and Christina talk to Justin, who seems to be making a wild sweet dish. They give him some critiques, but he does not seem to be taking them well and giving off some major attitude on MasterChef 2015! He said he has not and he has a plan in his mind.

TASTING – They all get their dishes done and time for the judges to taste them!

  • Stephen (Savory) – Chef Ramsay said he has put together a good energy of corn and this has been his best effort in this competition so far. Graham said he would mow that down and easily one of the best dishes they’ve had.
  • Veronica (Sweet) – Christina said the creme brulee is not done well at all and it doesn’t taste like it celebrates corn.
  • Shelly (Savory) – Chef Ramsay said the shrimp is cooked delicious and right amount of corn and she is growing in confidence and really strong.
  • Claudia (Sweet) – Graham said he loves the flavor and the technique is great for the tamale, but it is dense.
  • Justin (Sweet) – Chef Ramsay said the mix is too sweet. He used canned corn in the center and Chef Ramsay asked wouldn’t fresh corn make for better flavor?
  • Tommy (Sweet) – Christina said that is beautiful texture, but would like a little more corn flavor. She is impressed though.
  • Charlie (Savory) – Chef Ramsay said his grits give him the shits! He said they are undercooked and the corn is not the star. He tells him he needs to wakeup big time!

RESULTS – The judges discuss all of the dishes and the two standout dishes come from Shelly and Stephen and they’ll be team captains in the next team challenge. The worst dishes of the night come from Veronica, Charlie and Justin. The judges said Justin did put up the weakest dish tonight and he has been eliminated!
