***********************************************************

Here we go…the American Idol judges 2013 have come out and time to get this started. Nicki Minaj is going with the dark wig tonight folks. The finale is in two weeks…can you believe that? Let’s meet the Top 4 again and get this thing started! Harry Connick, Jr. is here tonight to mentor the Top 4. Apparently we are taking a quick break before the first performance????

First Solo Performances: Hit Songs of 2013

Angie Miller: She sings “Diamonds” by Rihanna. She said she is going to do a very different version of the song, but we shall see. No big shocker, but we find Angie behind the piano to start the night. She does have a very good voice and I didn’t find her annoying as usual, so props to her on that one! This was a good performance and it was a good start to the show. It is current, but she put a little twist on it and slowed it down some and hit some big notes. Keith Urban said he was waiting for the song to go somewhere and she never could go anywhere because of that song choice.

Amber Holcomb: She sings “Just Give Me A Reason” by Pink and Nate Ruess. She did not know the words when rehearsing with Harry Connick, Jr. and he didn’t care because he loved her voice. She better get those words right on stage! I am going to be hard on this performance and that is because I think Pink is amazing and can anyone really touch a performance from her? Amber does a good job, but for me it lacked the emotion that Pink delivers to the song. She struggles with the big note and I think she needs some help in the second performance.

Candice Glover: She sings “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars. She is singing a song written for a man to sing and Harry said this is a hard thing to do, but can she make it work??? I think she delivers big time! I love this song and I love her version of it. Candice is amazing and has such a good voice. She hits great notes and delivers strongly. What do you think? Randy Jackson said that is how you sing a song and gender doesn’t matter.

Kree Harrison: She sings “See You Again” by Carrie Underwood. She feels her problem last week was not connecting with the songs and she knows she must do that this week. This is a simple performance from Kree, yet a stellar performance. She has a great voice and a great song for her. She always gets the emotional side of things and nails this one! Love me some Kree!

Second Solo Performance: Standards

Angie Miller: She sings “Someone To Watch Over Me” by Gertrude Lawrence/Ella Fitzgerlald. She is singing this one for her Mom and the many times she sang it around the house. Talk about a snooze fest! She has a good voice, but this song is beyond boring to me. I am going to take a nap for the second half of American Idol 2013 tonight, okay?

Amber Holcomb: She sings “My Funny Valentine” by Mitzi Green/Chet Baker. Harry Connick, Jr. called her out on not knowing what the lyrics even meant for this song. She did not do well during her time with Harry tonight! We all know she can sing this song well….why? She sang it in Vegas and I am over re-singing songs during Top 4 Week. Are you?

Candice Glover: She sings “You’ve Changed” by Billie Holiday. Like Randy Jackson said earlier, when you can sing, you can sing anything and that is the case for Candice on this song. She is amazing and she proved why she should not have been in the bottom two last week on American Idol Season 12. She gets a standing ovation from the judges and rightfully so. Amazing job tonight Candice!

Kree Harrison: She sings “Stormy Weather” by Etta James. Harry Connick, Jr. is being hard on these girls tonight. Do you like him as a mentor? He thinks Kree picked a tough one and his wife loves her and she just needs to sing this song. This is another one of those songs that is a little boring to me, but I woke up from my nap when Kree hit the big note towards the end. She sings wonderfully, but I want to be excited tonight on redemption week for the Top 4, right? The judges did not seem to enjoy the song choice from Kree. We get Harry Connick, Jr. up on the judges’ panel to defend his mentoring and they all get into it.

Kree Harrison, Top 4 (2nd week) 2nd song… by HumanSlinky

The last performance of the night has the Top 4 hitting the stage together to sing “Wings” by Little Mix. Don’t get me wrong, but the actual performance was amazing. It was fun and I liked it, but the backup dancers or other girls on the stage with them were super annoying, right? How distracting!
