They’ll also have to prove it to the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, who will be the diners during The Duel on Top Chef Duels tonight! Watch it with us during our Top Chef Duels 2014 Recap and see who won The Duel on Top Chef Duels 2014 tonight!

Top Chef Duels - Season 1

Last week on Top Chef Duels Season 1, it was a battle between Dale Talde and Tiffani Faison and their hot-tempered cooking styles. In their challenges, they actually both won the challenge they brought with them, so they both walked away with $10,000. In The Duel, they were cooking for some rock stars, but with a twist: all the dishes had to be vegan! It was a close battle, but they picked Dale as the winner and Tiffani headed to The Knockout to take on Mike Isabella for a spot in the finale!

Here we go…the chefs are in place and the judges arrive and they are excited to take each other on! They draw knives to see who is picking tonight. Jen wins and goes first!

CHALLENGE #1: For Jen’s challenge, she said she picks an item she was intimidated by when she was younger and now loves cooking it: a sea urchin! They have 30 minutes to create a dish highlighting the sea urchin!

TASTING: For Jen, they said it was a nice contrast. They thought the eggs seemed under-seasoned. They said the sea urchin is not waking up their taste buds. For Nyesha, Curtis was getting a grittiness. Gail loved the combo. Curtis liked it, but there was sand in there. Wolfgang wanted acidity.

RESULTS: It was a unanimous vote, as Jen was victorious and wins $10,000.

CHALLENGE #2: For Nyesha’s challenge, she says it is redemption time. She picks bacon and eggs, which Jen was sent home for during her time on the show. They can make it simple or complicated.

TASTING: For Nyesha, Gail said their is a profound taste to the broth. Curtis said the presentation is great and he loved it. Wolfgang thought it was a very creative dish and she did a good job. For Jen, Curtis thought it was a good dish, but questioned her on the cook of the egg, which it was softer than she wanted it to be. Wolfgang likes everything about the dish but the egg. gail said she redeemed herself.

RESULTS: Nyesha wins her own challenge and will bring home $10,000!

THE DUEL: They will each create a three-course meal for the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. For the first course, they will create a dish combining seafood and cheese. For the second course, the dish must highlight a steak. For the final course, they will create a donut dessert. The chefs get their sous chefs and they have two hours to make get the dishes going!

FIRST COURSE: For Jen, Curtis said it was interesting. They said it looks well-executed. They enjoyed it and liked the parmesan on a scallop. For Nyesha, they said it looks like a murder scene. They said the blue cheese is a big swing. They are surprised with the blue cheese and it does overpower the tuna, but others thought it was a success.

SECOND COURSE: For Nyesha, they said the meat is like butter. They said it is really dramatic and very nicely done. For Jen, they wanted more of the ketchup that she made. Wolfgang wanted more sear on the steak.

FINAL COURSE: For Jen, they talk more about her previous arrests than her dish! For Nyesha, Curtis said it is a brilliant idea to serve it with the bitter coffee and a good combo. They said they both made them too small, so it makes it crispy. Gail said they both failed at making donuts.

The judges discuss all of the dishes and I think Nyesha may pull this one out on Top Chef Duels 2014. Who do you think will win The Duel tonight?

RESULTS: They said this was a difficult decision and it came down to one vote! The winner of The Duel is Jen! She moves on to the finale to compete for $100,000 on Top Chef Duels 2014. Nyesha will be moving on to The Knockout and will be taking on Tiffani Faison to remain in the competition.
