Last week on Top Chef Duels Season 1, it was the opposite of friends competing, as CJ Jacobson and Stefan Richter took each other on. They are rivals and not fans of each other, so the tension was there and both of them wanted to win. However, CJ swept the night completely. He won both of the challenges and took home $20,000. Then it was a foraging duel and right up the alley for CJ and he won, which sent Stefan to the Knockout and fighting for a chance to make it to the finale with Stefan and the other winners.

CHALLENGE #1: Takashi said he picked something that they are both good at, so he picks eggs! They must create a dish incorporating eggs.
TASTING: For Takashi, they said the textures in it are amazing and slimy is such an underrated textures. Thought it was executed beautifully and the texture was great. There was temperature contrast. For David, they said there is a lot of flavor going on in there and a lot of textural contrast going on. The flavors worked well together and it worked really well. Gail Simmons said she wants to have it for breakfast every day.
RESULTS: In a 2-1 vote, they pick Takashi as the winner and he takes home $10,000.
CHALLENGE #2: For David’s challenge, he picked crab and they have 30 minutes to make it three different ways! That is a lot of dishes, especially when you don’t know what you are doing!
TASTING: For David, they loved the beer and crab soup. They said it is incredibly impressive with how much is going on on that plate. Thought the pretzel crust was glorious. For Takashi, they said every piece of seafood is divine in the soup. They said each dish was different in it’s own right.
RESULTS: Takashi wins again in a 2-1 vote and takes home $20,000 on Top Chef Duels 2014!
THE DUEL: They will create a three-course meal using one bizarre ingredient for each dish brought from guest judge Andrew Zimmern. For the first course, they will create a dish highlighting sea squirt. For the second course, they will create a dish highlighting armadillo. For the third course, they will create a dish highlighting black sapote.
The chefs get some sous chefs to help and have three hours until service begins! They get started on their dishes and what they are going to do with these wild ingredients on Top Chef Duels 2014! The diners have arrived and time for the tasting to begin!
FIRST COURSE: For Takashi, Andrew said what he did with the sea squirt was great. They said it was a subtle, beautiful dish and very pleasing. For David, they said the combination of things kind of hides the sea squirt. They did very interesting preparations, but different prep. Andrew said he could eat this every day.
SECOND COURSE: For David, they said it is so good. They thought it was amazing how he went for it and it is rustic and beautiful and is a great stew that has armadillo. It is a real triumphant. For Takashi, they said some elements are spectacular. The prep of the middle one was very chewy.
FINAL COURSE: For Takashi, they said it honored the ingredient and everything they would expect from him. Gail wanted a full bowl of the rice pudding. For David, they said the showmanship of his dish is great and fun. They said it tasted so good. One judge wanted more, but Curtis said what else could he do???
They said both of them did an amazing job tonight and both had great reviews, but they are very experienced chefs and it showed on Top Chef Duels 2014 tonight. The judges discuss the dishes and it is torn between both of them, but I think David will win. What do you think?
RESULTS: The chefs are back in front of the judges and the winner of The Duel on Top Chef Duels tonight is Takashia Yagihashi and he is moving on to the finale! David heads to The Knockout to take on Mike Isabella to earn a spot in the finale!
