Here we go…

Round 1 – America’s Choice

Carlito Olivero (Boys) – “Boyfriend” by Justin Bieber

He thinks it is amazing that America is voting for song choices for him to sing. This doesn’t happen for people where he comes from. He gets emotional talking about his family and what he would do for them if he won. I know this is the type of artist that he wants to be, but I just don’t get it when he performs like this. He sounds good and hits those higher notes very well, but I like the slower songs from him. He works it and brings a very happy girl on the stage though and with Kelly Rowland at the end.

Restless Road (Groups) – “That’s My Kind Of Night” by Luke Bryan

They think they got it so right on the second song and Simon Cowell thinks they finally started to believe in themselves. I was excited to see them going back to their country roots, but the music is just overpowering them. The deep-voice guy can hardly be heard at the beginning and it just looks awkward and silly. They tried to have fun up there, but I think they were trying too hard and it looked like it.

Alex & Sierra (Groups) – “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men

They had their best night of comments last week and they are feeling good from that. Demi Lovato even said she wanted them in the finals, even though they aren’t in her category. Simon thinks this is the kind of record they would make, so he likes the song choice. I love these two, but I wasn’t feeling the connection between them during this performance. I think Sierra sounded great, but this one didn’t fit for Alex. I do love the fact that every week he looks like he was just hanging out with his friends and then hit the stage to perform!

Jeff Gutt (Over 25s) – “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley

Jeff said this is a life thing for him and he has sacrificed so much to be here. Him and Kelly think this song is perfect for them. This was his audition song last season and means a lot to him. For Jeff, this was a tough song to take on and he would have to be compared to Matthew Schuler and what he did with the song a few weeks ago on The Voice USA 2013. However, he lived up to the challenge and he put that rock twist on it and I loved it.

Round 2 – Duets

Carlito Olivero vs. Alex & Sierra – “Falling Slowly” by Glen Hansard

I guess we are going to be seeing some duets tonight on The X Factor USA 2013. This started a little rough for me, but then they kicked it in and sounded very good together. They made it work and this is where I love Carlito and where he slows it down!

Restless Road vs. Jeff Gutt – “Every Breath You Take” by The Police

Kelly Rowland said this is a challenge and Jeff needs to make Restless Road look like his backup singers .This song definitely fit into Jeff’s style and he did not disappoint. He is impressing me tonight and he did show his experience over Restless Road. The baritone guy on Restless Road looks like he is struggling so much when he sings and it should come natural for a true star.

Round 3 – Mentor’s Choice

Carlito Olivero (Boys) – “I Need To Know” by Marc Anthony

Paulina Rubio said this is a song from her good friend Marc Anthony, so she is dropping names now. She thinks this is the best song for Carlito to succeed. I feel this song choice allowed him to bring in those Spanish lyrics, that I think he sounds so hot and sexy singing! However, I think the first song choice showed off his range more and this song did not allow that.

Restless Road (Groups) – “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes

The boys say this is the style and genre they want to be like. Simon thinks this should be the style of song for their album. Okay, so I have seen this on comments of their performances and I saw it tonight. They say the lead singer sounds like Kermit the Frog and I heard it for this song. The second lead did sound good on this one, but I am ready for them to go home and ready for the judges to stop giving out standing ovations like everyone is so good.

Alex & Sierra (Groups) – “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles

They think they had their best performance last week, so not sure how they are going to top it this week. They were told they look at each other non-stop when performing and it worked, so I guess they did that here. This song started a little slow for me, but then they kicked it in and I think they both sounded great on it. They better make the finals next week on The X Factor USA 2013!

Jeff Gutt (Over 25s) – “Demons: by Imagine Dragons

Kelly thinks this song is perfect for getting him into the finals. I don’t know, but I wasn’t feeling this performance. I love Jeff Gutt tonight on The X Factor 2013, but this performance did not fit with his voice. He is more hard rocker and this didn’t show that. Was it just me?

The performances are done! Who are you voting for?
