The Voice - Season 6

Last week on The Voice 2014 Season 6, the performances continued when the Top 8 took the stage on Monday night. To be honest, all eight of the singers had some pretty good performances and I had no idea how the results show on Tuesday was going to go. Add in the fact that three artists were going home and it made it even harder to watch. In the end, we saw Sisaundra Lewis and Audra McLaughlin from Team Blake and Delvin Choice from Team Adam get eliminated. Kat Perkins from Team Adam found herself in the bottom four, but was saved with the Voice Save again! Why do people use the Instant Save on her, but can’t find the time to vote regularly?

Here we go…we find out that two artists will go home tonight and only three of them will make the finale next week. Then it is time for Usher to take the stage to perform his new single “Good Kisser” and who doesn’t love seeing him perform? He could just dance and I would be fine with that!

And now time for the performances on The Voice USA 2014:

Round 1

Kristen Merlin (Team Shakira) – “Gunpowder and Lead” by Miranda Lambert

She did not like country music growing up and told her parents to change the channel! She eventually started listening to Reba and Tim McGraw and it grew on her. She has gotten a ton of support from her friends and families and supporters, so now she wants to show her true sides tonight and dedicates this performance to them. I do like Kristen and she was having some fun up there and had a good vocal, but nothing too crazy. It felt safe and I want to see more from them at this point in the competition.

Josh Kaufman (Team Usher) – “All of Me” by John Legend

His family is the most important part of his life with his wife and three kids and feels grateful for all the support he has gotten from Indianapolis during this time. He could not do this without his wife and kids, so he dedicates this performance to them. For the first time tonight, the goosies came out for this performance. Josh can hit the emotions of the song and he nailed it with this. Such a great song choice for him!

Kat Perkins (Team Adam) – “Chandelier” by Sia

She has made Voice history, as she was saved two weeks in a row. She will now do her first pop song of the season and Adam Levine said the vocal feats she achieves is phenomenal. To be honest, I was not a huge fan of this song choice. I think she shows some amazing range with it, but it got to be a little too much at times and going all over the place and screaming almost.

Jake Worthington (Team Blake) – “Good Ol’ Boys” by Waylon Jennings

I think Jake a legitimate shot at making it into the finale next week, as he is a country singer and he is on Team Blake, so that is huge support out there! He dedicates this performance to his best friends back home, who have helped mold who he is today. For Jake, he is so likable and his personality wins us all over. He is a good guy and has a good country voice. He has fun with this one, but I don’t see anything spectacular with it.

Christina Grimmie (Team Adam) – ” Hide and Seek” by Imogen Heap

She will be using a vocalizer to get the vocals down on this song, which I am a huge fan of the song. Adam thinks this will set her apart on The Voice USA 2014. This song started so slow and boring that I was ready to fast forward it and be done with it. She turns it up a little towards the middle/end, but I was beyond bored by it all and don’t think it was that great. Of course, everyone will love it and she will have a million views of the video.

Round 2

Josh Kaufman (Team Usher) – “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic

This is a new song and current song and I think it is just what Josh needed. Both his songs tonight were current and he nailed both of them. This proves that he can be on the radio right now and deserves to be named the winner of The Voice Season 6. This was so good and he worked it out for this performance!

Kat Perkins (Team Adam) – “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel

This is such a tough song choice to make, as this song has been so popular since Frozen came out. She does a solid job singing it, which surprises me. I am impressed, but not sure if it is enough from her tonight! What do you think?

Kristen Merlin (Team Shakira) – “Foolish Games” by Jewel

She has been worried about staying in the competition and making the right song choices each week. This was a good choice for Kristen and she showed the emotion of the lyrics. She missed it on the first performance, but I think Jewel brought them out of her this time around!

Christina Grimmie (Team Adam) – “Some Nights” by Fun.

She said this is good reminder that she is growing up and experiencing life and she will never forget where she came from. To be honest, I am getting the screamer vibe from Christina tonight. She sings loud and screams notes to make it sound good and blow us away, but I found it annoying tonight. The arrangement was fun and she had great parts, but the screaming overshadowed them for me.

Jake Worthington (Team Blake) – “Heaven” by Bryan Adams

Blake thinks this is the perfect song choice and the most crucial time. I think Blake knows what he is talking about, as this was a great song choice for Jake and it could be just what he needed to make it to the finale next week. He sounded great and I think the country fans will be buying this one up on iTunes!
