The Voice - Season 6

Last week on The Voice Season 6, we had the final Playoffs take place and the Top 12 were finally put into place. All the coaches put up their final five artists and then had to pick three of them to represent them for the live shows. Now we have 12 artists remaining and one of them will be the winner of The Voice 2014 Season 6. It’s hard to believe that we made it this far and America did not have a say in the results, but that changes this week!

Here we go…the coaches hand over their power to America tonight, but the coaches will train their teams before they hit the stage. The Voice USA 2014 is live and let’s get this started!

Bria Kelly (Team Usher) – “Rolling In The Deep” by Adele

Bria has gotten a lot of praise from the coaches this season, but her vocals seem to be screaming to me at times and bothers me. Bria wanted this song to show the more soulful side of her voice. She said she is changing it up to not just be a karaoke version. This song choice has been done so many times on these shows, so a safe choice in my opinion. She starts so strong for me and I am liking it, but then it comes to an end and she goes crazy with the notes and that screaming and she lost me, yet again!

Delvin Choice (Team Adam) – “Unchained Melody” by Righteous Brothers

Adam said this could be a hard one for him, as it is not a popular song right now, but it is a huge classic. He told him that he needs to connect to this song emotionally. He was working the crowd and singing to the girls on this one to get that emotional side of things. I just love his voice and think he is so strong. He is a threat to win this season!

Dani Moz (Team Shakira) – “Just Give Me A Reason” by Pink

Shakira thinks this song will keep her more confined, but give her opportunities to show that emotion. She thinks this song will propel her to the next level. Dani said that Shakira is the best coach for her. Dani does have a huge voice and is very strong with her vocals. I did enjoy the performance, but it is hard for anyone to take on Pink, in my opinion.

Audra McLaughlin (Team Blake) – “Angel of the Morning” by Juice Newton

Blake said a lot of her fans are people they look up to, like Martina McBride for Audra. He said this is a classic song that has never been performed on The Voice before. She said it is now or never and she is not ready to go home yet. I do think Audra has an amazing country voice and is so solid, but I felt this song choice did not show that off. She brings it home at the end, but it was not the best beginning.

T.J. Wilkins (Team Usher) – “Waiting On The World To Change” by John Mayer

He said he has had people die in the streets and he never went that path and he wants to be that change. He said this is his first crack at performing something contemporary, but with his twist in it. I think he is one of those singers that has a great voice and great range, but not sure if he will connect with the audience. He sings well, but I find myself bored during his performances on The Voice USA 2014. How about you?

Christina Grimmie (Team Adam) – “Dark Horse” by Katy Perry

Christina has a huge following out there, so could she win with that following alone? She said she loves pop music, but R&B music also and this song choice does that perfectly. I think she is alright, but I don’t get all the hype for her. This was an okay performance, but her following could send her to the victory without even caring how she performs and I don’t like that!

Sisaundra Lewis (Team Blake) – “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” by Elton John

She wants to do pop soul and Blake said the sky is the limit for her. He thinks this song lets her show a more calm side for her, but show off her finesse too. There are those artists that could sing anything and it would sound amazing. Sisaundra is one of those artists for me. She looks absolutely beautiful tonight and her voice matches that. She gives me goosebumps with this one!

Kristen Merlin (Team Shakira) – “Stay” by Sugarland

Shakira is very excited and thinks this is going to show another side of her and needs a moment to expose her heart. Kristen said this song shows vulnerability and she is usually guarded. I have said this before, but they did not show much of Kristen before the Playoffs and she has such a strong voice. This was going so well and then her freakin’ mic went out!!!! Some guy runs on to give her a replacement mic, but on the final note. What??? The coaches give her major props to just keep on singing and not letting it phase her.

Kat Perkins (Team Adam) – “Magic Man” by Heart

Adam said going into the classic rock lane is killer for her. He thinks this is the perfect song for her at this moment and can’t imagine giving this song to anyone else. This was a great song choice for her and I hope America supports her. She is so good and is a big rocker. Classic rock is for her and she is working that stage on The Voice USA 2014 with the band. She was so comfortable up there and rocked it.

Jake Worthington (Team Blake) – “Anymore” by Travis Tritt

He said his passion is to keep country music alive. Blake said to take what he loves and make it his own. He thinks this is a great song for him and thinks the girls will love it. Jake is the type of contestant that you want to root for because he is such a nice guy. He has a great country voice and an old school country voice. He does well with this song.

Tess Boyer (Team Shakira) – “I’ll Be There For You” by Bon Jovi

Shakira wants to make this song more modern and see what it would sound like on the radio today. Tess is excited to draw on past relationships and wanting to be there for someone. Tess has been on every team but Adam’s this season and I don’t quite get that. Everyone wants her on their team, yet she never wins the battles or playoffs? She is such a strong singer and did such a great job on this song!

Josh Kaufman (Team Usher) – “Stay with Me” by Sam Smith

Usher said the song is supposed to be intimate, but it si good to control the stage. So, he has Josh run the stage for some exercise and work the stage and connect with the audience. He said he is an incredible vocalist, but now it is his time to connect. Josh is so good and his vocals are amazing. He has great range and hits those emotions of the song. I am so impressed by him and, again, hope America supports him!
