The Voice - Season 7

Last week on The Voice Season 7, it was time for the Voice Playoffs and the Top 20 on The Voice USA Season 7 took the stage and performed for your votes. It was Team Adam and Team Blake on Monday night and then Team Gwen and Team Pharrell on Tuesday night. We saw some great performances during the week, including Reagan James on Team Blake and Elyjuh Rene on Team Pharrell, even though he was eliminated during the first live results show on Wednesday night. All of that left us with your Voice Top 12 heading into the live shows this week.

Here we go…

Sugar Joans (Team Pharrell) – “Take Me To The River” by Al Green

Pharrell Williams sees something in Sugar, as he has saved her a couple times now. I am not seeing it yet, but will she bring it out tonight??? She has a ton of confidence when she performs, which is very cool to see. She has a good voice, but when she goes for those big notes it annoys me. It sounds like screeching and I just can’t take it.

Ryan Sill (Team Gwen) – “Ordinary World” by Duran Duran

Gwen Stefani didn’t want to do anything that had him trying to dance and move around the stage and just focus on his vocals. This is another save from last week and I don’t get this one either. He is pretty and has a good voice, but he lacks that star power. He goes for the big notes and it made me cringe and feel bad for him. What just happened???

Jessie Pitts (Team Blake) – “Don’t You Worry Child” by Swedish House Mafia

Looks like we are starting with the saves this week on The Voice USA 2014, but this one I am a fan of. She wants to play an instrument, so she starts out at the piano tonight. I loved her sitting at the piano and singing. Her voice is so good and I love the sound of it. She got up when the song kicked in and she lost me. She wasn’t as good.

Damien (Team Adam) – “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” by The Hollies

Damien took us to church on this one, but I didn’t want to attend the mass tonight. He has such a strong voice and is a powerful singer, but will people head out and actually buy this album? I don’t think so, but I think he’ll be safe tonight!

DaNica Shirey (Team Pharrell) – “Creep” by Radiohead

This was a weird song choice for DaNica, but they know what they are doing and it worked out very well. She looked good and working those extensions. I loved the arrangement of this song and her voice is so good. She put her own twist on a very popular song, so good job.

Taylor John Williams (Team Gwen) – “If” by Bread

Of all the 12 artists remaining, Taylor has to be my favorite. He has his own style and I love it. This song and performance was simple, but it showed us what kind of vocals he can bring to the table. He is a force to be reckoned and I think he has some fans out there, so watch out!

Reagan James (Team Blake) – “It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over” by Lenny Kravitz

How is this girl only 16 years old??? She just turned 16 and her voice is so mature. I loved this song choice and she worked it out on every note. She almost had this Jamaican vibe going on and I loved it. She was so strong tonight!

Luke Wade (Team Pharrell) – “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran

This could be a good or bad thing for Luke tonight with this song choice. He has such an Ed Sheeran vibe about him, so will it be compared to the original song? I am not sure about others, but I loved it. Luke is such a contender this season and he nailed this song and performance!

Matt McAndrew (Team Adam) – “Take Me To Church” by Hozier

Speaking of my faves, Matt is definitely up there on my favorites list for The Voice Season 7. He is a rocker, so this seems like a weird song choice, but he does such a good job with it. I love his voice and he brings out those high notes with ease. He has that rocker in him and he did so good tonight and showed the emotion of the song.

Craig Wayne Boyd (Team Blake) – “You Look So Good In Love” by George Strait

Craig has such a strong and solid voice. This was a great performance and he makes it look so easy. He has the rocker side to him and the country side to him and this was so solid.

Chris Jamison (Team Adam) – “Jealous” by Nick Jonas

This was the save from Adam Levine last week and that one surprised me the most. Can he prove me wrong tonight? I think he is a strong performer and he has that Justin Timberlake vibe going for him and he is pretty. He hits those higher notes and this is a strong song choice for him, but it is a little too much like the original for me!

Anita Antoinette (Team Gwen) – “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley

I am a big fan of Anita and love her vibe and sound. This was an emotional performance and a great end to the night. She sang this song so well and it was perfect for her. She is one to watch this season!
