The Voice - Season 6

Last week on The Voice 2014 Season 6, the artists took to the stage on Monday and performed for your votes. This was the first time all season where America got the chance to vote for their favorites, so the results were up in the air! During the Top 12 results showCarson Daly read the results and the bottom three artists performed one last time to show America why they deserved the Instant Save. That save went to Tess Boyer from Team Shakira, which meant T.J. Wilkins from Team Usher and Dani Moz from Team Shakira were eliminated!

Here we go…we start the night with a special performance, as Rixton takes the stage and perform “Me and My Broken Heart.” I am a fan of this song, but can we just get to the Top 10 on The Voice USA Season 6 performing???

Kat Perkins (Team Adam) – “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac

Adam said choosing the correct song is so crucial this season and he wants her to take on a Stevie Nicks song and show the tender side of her voice. He thinks this is a great moment for her to capture everyone’s hearts. Graham Nash from Crosby, Stills & Nash told her she has a great instrument during rehearsals. Her voice is so similar to Stevie’s and it is creepy! She does a great job on the song, but is it too similar to the original? She ends on a huge note and makes you forget it all and she did so well.

Tess Boyer (Team Shakira) – “Ain’t It Fun” by Paramore

She was the Instant Save last week on The Voice USA 2014. She thinks she had to go through that and build character and she will claw her way to the end. She wants to do something different to show America why she should be here. Shakira tells her to be sassy with it and that is the one thing she is missing. I think the first like 15 seconds were very good. She sounded good, but then it seemed like the music overpowered her. She does have that Kelly Clarkson sound to her voice and she can sing and showed some great vocals throughout it, but I wanted to see her be more consistent and not get lost in the music.

Audra McLaughlin (Team Blake) – “You Lie” by Reba McEntire

Blake got his team guitars this week, which shows how amazing he is! He is hoping the confidence that Audra got from getting voted through last week carries through to this week. Blake thinks this song will showcase her range and show that to America. Blake was not kidding when he said this song would show off her range. She nailed this performance and was beyond good. This has to be her best performance of the season!

Josh Kaufman (Team Usher) – “This Is It” by Kenny Loggins

he does miss his wife and family, but the ultimate goal is to make a better life for them. Usher said he really does rise to the occasion. He said this song works every register of your vocals. He thinks Josh should already be on the radio. I love Josh’s voice and thinks it is so easy to listen to. I am not a fan of this song choice at first, but he does make it work and shows off his range.

Christina Grimmie (Team Adam) – “Hold On, We’re Going Home” by Drake

Adam said this is time to take a song and make it her own and show America she can own. She is taking on a rap song and changing the vocals and sitting at the piano. She said she would make her YouTube videos at the piano, so this is comfortable for her. She does show some great vocals in this performance and makes a rap song her own, so I am impressed!

Jake Worthington (Team Blake) – “Run” by George Strait

Blake is hoping that this gives him the opportunity to show himself off. Jake is the kind of guy that you want to root for. He is a sweet guy and his personality is amazing. You want him to win. Blake thinks this will be a huge performance for him and wants to push him as a vocalist. I think Jake is a great guy and is a huge fan of George Strait, but this song bored me. It was rough at first and then got better, but nothing special for me.

Bria Kelly (Team Usher) – “I’m With You” by Avril Lavigne

She is a senior in high school and on The Voice USA 2014 and forming bonds with these fellow singers that will last a lifetime. Usher wants her to find that space and make him believe her with this performance. She said it is scary to let her guard down and not used to letting people in. Bria has a good voice, when she sings soft. She has this rasp/scream that turns me off and kept it quiet for a lot of the performance, but it comes out at the end and I am annoyed!

Delvin Choice (Team Adam) – “Bright Lights” by Gary Clark Jr.

Adam said they have to do something that makes him feel comfortable, but pushes the envelope. He said this is a fusion between funk music and blues and if he were to record an album, this is what he would do. I am a big fan of Delvin and think his voice is so unqiue. He has that soul and this song fits it perfectly. He is so solid and this song should go into the Top 10 on iTunes!

Kristen Merlin (Team Shakira) – “Let Her Go” by Passenger

She had mic issues last week on The Voice Season 6, but she was a pro through it and America kept her. She is a country singer, but has the folk side in her too. Shakira said every word have a significance and she must emote them. I am a fan of Kristen and her voice. She hits some big notes and has that country tone to her voice and she is very strong. No issues with the mic tonight and she does a good job!

Sisaundra Lewis (Team Blake) – “Oh Sherrie” by Steve Perry

The final artist of the night comes from Team Blake. She also is struggling with being away from her children and she may be a singer, but she is a mother first. Blake thinks it is time to rattle the cage and thinks this song would be shocking. He said America is going to see a Mom take the stage and rock out. I think Sisaundra proved she can take on any genre (including country during the results show last week) and nail it. Her voice is incredible and deserves to be in the finale!
