Project Runway 2014 Recap: Season 13 Finale – The Winner Is…

We have four designers on Project Runway 2014 remaining and they have a lot of work to do before tonight’s final runway show at Fashion Week on Project Runway Season 13, but I think they will be able to handle it. This is the collection that could make them the winner of Project Runway 2014, so no pressure, right? The designers will be feeling it big time, but who wins tonight on Project Runway Season 13? Last week on Project Runway Season 13, the final four designers (Sean Kelly, Char Glover, Kini Zamora and Amanda Valentine) made their way to Rome with mentor Tim Gunn for some inspiration for their final collections. It was then time for the designers to head home and work on their final collections with Tim checking in with them. They headed to New York for Fashion Week, but the judges wanted to see a preview. Kini got a bad critique and needs to do a lot of work, but the others seemed to be at a decent place.

We get to see the final runway show tonight and the judges pick a winner of Project Runway Season 13! Who do you think it will be? We made our predictions earlier today, so go check them out and come back for our live recap starting soon!

Here we go…we go back to last week and Kini feeling overwhelmed. Tim comes in and tells Sean that his collection can’t be one note. He tells Kini it can’t look se serious and have some movement in the collection. He tells Char to make her collections look like something she would wear. He tells Amanda to polish the ethnic look. They are going to Mood and have a $300 budget. Amanda doesn’t want to go to Mood and thinks it would distract her, so she is not going and has a ton of extra fabric.

Char, Sean and Kini go to Mood and get some new fabric and we are back in the workroom and the designers are working on their new looks. Char wants to make a coat/hood and Kini is feeling more confident.

Tim comes in for his critique and tells Amanda that she is doubting herself and overthinking things and she’ll be fine. He tells Kini it was too heavy-handed and he can see how he can make any of the looks youthful. He tells Sean to own the fringe and that is his point of view. He tells Char that everything she does needs to be done in one hour and not overwork the new looks. He thinks her new skirt is too old.

The models come in and Char is too focused on her new looks, so can’t work on a fitting. Kini loves the new looks and he is pumped, which I told you he would come back and win this all! The day comes to an end, so only one more day to work and then runway day!

The next day arrives and we see the designers get to work and Char is overwhelmed. With the new looks, they get more time with hair and makeup! Tim gives his emotional speech and they are the best designers ever and blah blah. The day is coming to an end and this is going to be a rush the next day. Everyone is packing their collections, but Char is still sewing and the night comes to an end!

The next morning arrives and Char thinks she is going to use the look that Tim told her to throw out, but she is going with her gut on this one! They head out to Lincoln Center and it is all getting real for them! They love the action, but it is time to get things ready for this show! They are all going crazy backstage and getting things in order and outfits on models. Char is going to use the turquoise dress that Tim said no. She then is changing looks on all the models. She is losing it and I would be over her if I was a model! However, here come the judges and it is runway time on Project Runway 2014 tonight! Amanda is getting ready to head out on the runway and notices that one of her models changed their shoes, so she is rushing to get the correct shoes!

Things are in place and the runway show is starting. The judges tonight are Heidi Klum, Zac Posen, Nina Garcia and guest judge Emmy Rossum. Let’s get this started:

• Amanda – She made the dress into a shirt, but I am not digging the pants with it. I love her looks and her blocked patterns and it definitely is cohesive. She has her style and she goes with it and she makes it work. My thoughts: is it all TOO similar??? That final dress is amazing and looks so good.
• Char – She goes with Tim’s hated look first and I like it. To be honest, she has so much color and the looks are good. The collection is cohesive and it is fun, but some of the looks are very close in style. She did good though and so much improvement.
• Kini – Yeah, I knew this from the end of the show last week, but Kini nailed it. He was old last week and he cut years off these looks. Construction is perfect, as usual for Kini. There is so much cohesion and I am just a fan of his. I love Sean, but Kini is definitely my winner after this collection.
• Sean – He definitely took that fringe and went with it. There is so much cohesion in this collection too and I love his style. He has some great looks in this collection and he is making it tough for me. For me, Sean has a lot of similar looks, but great looks. Kini seemed to show a few different more looks in there.

Back on the runway and time for the judges’ critiques on Project Runway 2014 tonight! Here we go:

• Char – Zac said she should some great cut clothing and there is a customer out there for her. Heidi said she saw her vibe in the show and could see a lot of girls wanting to wear this. Emmy said she saw two different type of girls on the runway. Nina said she understands print, sexiness and color and not many designers can do that. She said she is trying too hard to be something she is not.
• Amanda – Nina said effortless and loves her combination of colors and ready to move on to the next level. Zac said her pattern cutting is great and her jewelry is ready to go and most original collection on the runway today. Heidi said she was impressed with her collection too and loves her long, flowy dresses.
• Sean – Nina said it is the most editorial of all the collections here and his opening look was fabulous, but thinks he can do better. Heidi said it is very sophisticated and she loved how the colors changed. Emmy said his storytelling was really beautiful and a beautiful way to close the show with that dress. Zac said he did great tonight and wants to see what he can do more and he is the full package.
• Kini – Emmy said he is clearly gifted. Heidi said there are a lot of pieces that she loved, but then some that she is overwhelmed. Nina said she likes that he uses denim in such a sophisticated way. Heidi said it is amazing how he turned it around. Zac said he questions stylistically where he is going at times and it gets a little drag queen. Nina said he does great work and congratulations.

Time for the judges to discuss all the collections and pick a winner! They are really torn, but I am thinking they are going with Kini. What do you think???

The designers are back on the runway for the results! Char has room to grow and she is out tonight! They said Kini did a good job turning it around, but he is out!!! I am so shocked by that one, but the winner of Project Runway Season 13 is Sean Kelly!!!
