If you haven’t heard Crystal’s original music…you should go listen to it. Last.fm has quite a few of her originals up that you can at least listen to (you can’t buy them because of the Idol contract). And honestly, I hate cover songs PERIOD. People who like Crystal not only think she’s an outstanding singer, but like the STYLE of music that they can imagine her doing. People that don’t like the whole singer/songwriter vibe are NOT going to appreciate her as much.

For example: I thought Adam Lambert was an INCREDIBLE talent. But…I wouldn’t buy his music. I don’t like that style at ALL. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t the best singer (I happen to think he should have won last year). But I would never have considered buying his CD. It’s not the kind of music that I like to listen to. Crystal, however, is. So we’re not JUST talking about talent here. The styles and tones and types of voices play into it as well. So that’s something that needs to be considered.
