Dancing with the Stars 2014 Recap: The Switch Up and First Elimination (VIDEO)
We have the voting rules of The Switch Up and the first elimination on Dancing with the Stars 2014 tonight, so it is going to be a full two hours on Dancing with the Stars Season 18! When all is said and done, we could see new couples formed on DWTS 2014 and we will see the first couple eliminated! Watch with us during our Dancing with the Stars 2014 Recap and see who got eliminated on Dancing with the Stars 2014 tonight!
Last week on DWTS 2014, the new couples took the dance floor together for the first time. As usual with a premiere on Dancing with the Stars, the judges were pretty lenient and it was all about getting to see who was on the show and seeing how good of a dancer they just might be. There were some low scores and some high scores, but most of the couples ended up in the middle of the pack with an even playing field after Week 1.
The couples get to take on routines they were wanting to learn this season and we get the results of voting on The Switch Up tonight on DWTS 2014 with our recap starting soon, but check out our predictions for tonight in the meantime.

Here we go…I guess we are going to be giving results as the night goes on? Two stars will be eliminated tonight as well!!!
Team: Drew Carey and Cheryl Burke
They are safe for tonight, so no worries for them! This is a dance that Drew has never done before and it has a lot of moves. She said she would never have picked this style for Week 2, but he said he would like to learn it before the season started! Drew is so entertaining and it is fun to watch. This is very quick and a lot of steps, but he does good and it is fun to watch, but I wish he would close his mouth every once in a while!
7.0 – Bruno said he gets the crowd going and there were a few problems, but he covered it up well and that is what a pro does.
7.0 – Len said he liked the mix of steps and it was so much fun to watch. Work on your footwork and work on your posture, but see you next week.
7.0 – Carrie Ann said he has great spring in his step and he did excellent.
More results on Dancing with the Stars 2014, as we find out a few more couples that are safe tonight:
- Billy Dee Williams and Emma Slater (I knew they would be safe, but shouldn’t be)
- Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy
- Danica McKellar and Val Chmerkovskiy
Team: Danica McKellar and Val Chmerkovskiy
Val doesn’t think they stood out as much as he wanted them to last week. He made a very difficult routine for tonight and one he would use with a professional partner. Great routine and great dance and oh my, those abs on Danica!!! She worked it out up there!
8.0 – Bruno said she is beautiful to look at, but not quite tamed yet. There are little details and when she gets it right, she will be a scorcher.
8.0 – Len said she has to straighten her legs on some occasions, but she ain’t going anywhere!
8.0 – Carrie Ann said she was so sexy and so elegant and so grounded. She does get lost a little, but good job.
Team: Billy Dee Williams and Emma Slater
He said that he looks at himself in the mirror and he just sees an old man doing the tango. His attitude is not helping the situation. Emma brought is some young girls to help out with the dance and it reenergizes him and he decided to smile and have fun with it. He does no moves for the dance and when did we allow other dancers on the stage then the couple? This is a joke and we have to see it for another week???
5.0 – Bruno said he had fun with the three beauties.
5.0 – Len said it didn’t have enough go in it and no attack, but keep having fun.
5.0 – Carrie Ann said he handled this choreography very well, but he has to find some more movements with his body to get higher scores.
You then tweet #DWTS and the name of the star and the name of the pro partner you want to see them dance with in two weeks! Go tweet!
Team: Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy
She said she was excited to do some of the flips and tricks of the swing dance. Good thing she is so small, because Maks is flinging her around on this one! This was beyond entertaining and I am loving this couple this season! He whipped her around, but it looked so good. Great routine and watch out for them this seaosn!
8.0 – Bruno said that was a swinging and acrobatic and said she missed her steps a couple times, but because it was so quick.
9.0 – Len said great music and great dancing and that swing had wings!
8.0 – Carrie Ann said she had Maks working his butt off and she shined in this.
More results, as we find out these couples are safe:
- Amy Purdy and Derek Hough
- Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas
With the lowest combined score from last week, we see Diana Nyad and Henry Byalikov! They are the first eliminated couple of the night, but get to dance their dance for the week anyway! This elimination does not surprise me.
Team: Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas
Here we go with the religious thing and keeping it in check. Not gonna lie, but I kind of want her to go home so I don’t have to hear that talk all season long! Call me crazy, but I don’t see the rumba at all and see like another contemporary routine! Good dance, but who knows.
7.0 – Bruno said he loves that when she dances, she dances from the heart.
7.0 – Len said her arms have to be as expressive as her face.
7.0 – Carrie Ann said said it was too contemporary and missing some of the rumba this week and be careful with her arm.
Team: Amy Purdy and Derek Hough
She has always wanted to learn this dance and doing all the tricks. She is worried about how quickly you have to move and some times she needs to figure out where her feet are at, but there is always the potential her legs could go flying off. I love it! To do what she is doing on prosthetic legs is amazing. She is fun and entertaining and this was so good! She can move and such good choreography.
8.0 – Bruno said she is elegant and great.
8.0 – Len said she is amazing and well done.
8.0 – Carrie Ann said they are so synchronized and it is mind-boggling, but well done.
More results on Dancing with the Stars 2014, as both these couples are safe tonight:
- James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd
- Charlie White and Sharna Burgess
Team: James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd
Len said he is the eye candy of the season, but Peta wants to make him into a great dancer this season. He is definitely easy on the eyes, huh? He definitely has some tricks up his sleeve and can dance pretty good. He has some good moves in there, but him running his hand up and down Peta’s legs got awkward at times.
8.0 – Bruno said more of that please! He came out of his shell and he has the abs to prove it.
8.0 – Len said he was full-on, which caused him to lose some of the dance moves at times.
9.0 – Carrie Ann said damn! He just joined the Hall of Fame of hottest stars.
Team: Charlie White and Sharna Burgess
For this dance, Charlie needs to be a bad boy. To get some tips, she sends him to Maks! He works with them and Charlie is feeling more confident and the arrogance necessary for the routine. It must have worked, as this was another great routine for them. I always knew Sharna was a great dancer, but she never had a good partner to work with. Watch out for her and Charlie this season!
9.0 – Bruno said he loves him when he is bad. He saw a predator instinct come out and go for the kill.
7.0 – Len said he is used to being judge. It was a terrific number, but he cannot break the hold.
9.0 – Carrie Ann said power is about the confidence in yourself.
Team: NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani
She is so happy that they made it through the first week of dancing. Her husband chose this dance and has always wanted to dance this with her, but now she is wondering why she picked this dance. There is something about her and her dancing that I like. She is not a great dancer, but I think she is fun to watch and having fun out there.
7.0 – Bruno said she can do her thing beautifully. The jive has to be sharper, but great entertainment.
7.0 – Len said it was a cute routine and jive during Week 2 is tough.
7.0 – Carrie Ann said it was really fun to watch, but wants to see her arms bigger.
Team: Sean Avery and Karina Smirnoff
He said you should only smile when something is funny or makes you happy, but DWTS 2014 wants a smile on his face all the time. I do, honestly, like this guy and his weird sense of humor and hope he sticks around longer. He had some good feet moving throughout that one. He is not a dancer and that is what the show is about, but I think we forget that sometimes.
7.0 – Bruno said when he smiles, his whole persona changes. He is light on his feet and a couple of timing issues.
7.0 – Len said the secret of DWTS is to get better scores each week and he will get that from him tonight…much better!
7.0 – Carrie Ann said he is very authentic when he dances and his rhythm is for real.
Team: Cody Simpson and Witney Carson
The judges all said something about his technique last week, so Witney wants him to make sure it is on point this week. It is her first time as a pro, so she is finding it hard to keep it traditional and not lose points on all the penalties. This is another one of those dancers who was better last week, but he puts his own moves in there and does better as it ends.
8.0 – Bruno said he is so compelling and he can see that they worked hard on this.
7.0 – Len said it could have been a little more precise and compact, but anyone that can fit a moonwalk into a tango is good.
7.0 – Carrie Ann said she hopes he makes it into next week because she loves how he stylizes things.
The final three couples take the stage and here are the final results:
- NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani – Safe
- Cody Simpson and Witney Carson – Safe
- Sean Avery and Karina Smirnoff – Eliminated
