Here we go…after seeing Harry give the contestants a lecture on never telling anyone that they are sick and he is tired of hearing about the bitching and I could not agree more with him. Enough excuses people!
So, are we finding out the fate of the singers tonight??? They are in the holding room and the judges are in place and we are talking about the solo performances from yesterday! I guess we are, as Emily Piriz is up first and headed to the judges, but then we take a look back at her journey and her solo performance. I am liking her voice and it is very sweet. I guess the judges liked her too, as she makes it to the Top 15 Girls on American Idol 2014!
Next up is pretty boy Spencer Lloyd who won over Jennifer Lopez in his initial audition, but did his vocals win over the rest of the judges during Hollywood Week? He won me over with his performance of “Say Something,” but then he sang an original song for his solo performance and it was a disaster. Harry said it sounded like a Public Service Announcement! Will they send him home??? The original song worked against him, but the judges still want him in the Top 30!
Jillian Jensen is up next and I am not a fan of hers. She has been here before to audition and she has been on The X Factor USA and I just can’t root for her anymore! She sings an original song and explains that American Idol 2014 is not only looking for a winner of this season, but someone to have longevity in the business, which impresses Harry. It must have worked, as she makes the Top 30!
Madelyn Patterson – it has been an emotional journey for her and we have seen many tears from her, but she gave it her all during her solo performance and I was liking it. She comes in very nervous, but Keith said it was a difficult decision and they send her home tonight on American Idol 2014!
We see a few quick no’s from the American Idol judges 2014, but now it is time for George Lovett to take his chance. His solo performance was very good and full of emotion and gave me goosebumps. The judges loved him and sent him into the Top 30!
Original songs can always hurt these contestants, but then it also shows the creativity from others. One of those that it benefits is Sam Woolf, who sang an original and shined. He connects with the lyrics and shows so much emotion. He makes it to the Top 30 and Jennifer gets teary eyed.
More no votes, but Keri Lynn Roche thinks she gave enough and will get that yes from the judges she is searching for. Her solo performance is very soulful and sounded good, but she is a little awkward on that stage. However, it was a no from the judges and she is headed home.
Malaya Watson – I like this girl’s vibe and style. She a very solid voice, but she got off to a rocky start at her solo performance and Harry cuts her off and makes her and the band get together and get on the same key. It worked, as she nailed it and the judges sent her into the Top 30 on American Idol Season 13!
Maurice Townsend – I have liked this guy’s voice this season (and rooting for him because he is from where I live), but the solo performance did not wow me. Jennifer said she is rooting for him, as he moves on to the Top 30!
We see a quick appearance by Randy Jackson, so I guess Harry and Keith needed to go up and audition and I am assuming Harry sang a traditional New Orleans song of some kind. It was funny and Keith drug him off the stage!
Bria Anai Johnson – she started the season with her sparkly lipstick and comes running in to see the judges. She was insanely good during the solo performance and the judges send her into the Top 30.
Jessica Meuse – she had a lot of issues during the group performances and she did make me a little annoyed with her. She won me back with her solo performance and her attitude singing her original song.
Jesse Roach – she won over the judges during her audition, but that seemed to disappear during her solo performance. I was not impressed, but the judges bring in Jessica and Jesse and they said it was so close between them that they want to hear them sing again…right now! They each sing a little a capella and I am liking Jessica more. The judges agree and she moves on and Jesse is heading home.
Dexter Roberts – I love this guy and his spirit and personality. He is a great country singer and I think America will fall in love with him. He won me over officially with the Backstreet Cowboys group performance and we will see more of him as he makes the Top 30.
Emmanuel Zidor – I have been back and forth with Emmanuel this season, as his personality has been a lot to handle at times. He had an amazing solo performance and he had the judges (and me) cracking up. He gets emotional in front of the judges, as do I, but they send him on and he is going to the Top 30!
MK Nobilette – she was sick and struggled through the group performance, but made it through the solo performances and it seems so calm, but she delivers. Jennifer said she gave her goose bumps and Harry said she is an interesting serious. Jennifer said she is not the typical American Idol. MK says she is gay, but the world is changing, especially over the past couple years. Jennifer said it is changing and they can see her as the next American Idol and she is moving on to the Top 30!
Kristen O’Connor – another singer who struggled with the group performance, but Jennifer loved her final performance and it showed she could regroup form that. Because of that, she is joining the Top 30 on American Idol 2014!
Jordan Brisbane – in his audition, he said he could shut down the whole American Idol series. Since then, he has been quiet and not shown. Here he is now in front of the judges and it is his 16th birthday and instead of a car, the judges give him a pass into the Top 30!
Casey McQuillen – sent home
Nica Nashae – sent home
Leah Guerrero and Andrina Brogden – it looks like we could have another sing off, as the judges ask to see both of them together. Nope, one is going through and one is not! Leah is eliminated and Andrina has made it to the Top 30!
Malcolm Allen – while he is singing his final performance, Harry tells Jennifer that he is a good singer, but is he marketable? Jennifer said she remembers him every time. I guess that is enough, as they send him into the Top 30!
Alex Preston – I will admit that he is not the easiest on the eyes, but this is a singing competition and not a beauty pageant. He makes a weird face while he sings, but his voice and original songs are amazing. He has a unique voice and a great skill at writing songs and he will be moving on to the Top 30!
C.J. Harris and Casey Thrasher – this has been a long road for both of them and they became friends over their Idol journey. Now they find out their results together and this does not normally end well for one of the contestants. Harry said they have so many similarities with their voices and it is tough, but the judges want to hear them both sing right now! They sing and both do well, but the judges discuss and they are making us wait to find out their decision!!!
If you don’t want to wait, click here to see if they made the Top 30!!!
