American Idol 2015 - Top 11 Performaces

Last night on American Idol Season 14, we started the night with 16 contestants, but only twelve of them would get the chance to sing. We would start with the five guys and five girls that America voted through. From there, the American Idol judges 2015 would get to pick one girl and one guy as a Wild Card pick. To be honest, most of the Top 12 were no-brainers, but I was shocked by a few of the selections. I mean, how far can Daniel Seavey make it based solely on being a cute little boy? Can the young girls stop voting for him, please???

Here we go…it looks like the same format, as Ryan Seacrest will announce the singers that made it through one-by-one tonight and they’ll sing again for your votes! It is Party On Idol tonight, so let’s get to the results and the contestants that are safe and singing tonight!

Rayvon Owen – He sings “Burn” by Ellie Goulding. I am a big fan of Rayvon and think he has an amazing voice, but I hate this song choice for him. It is a fun song, but he goes for those high notes and it just sounds awkward to me. This boy can sing, but I did not like this performance.

Maddie Walker – She sings “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean. She said this shows a rocker side of country and she thinks America needs to see that side of her. This started slow for me and she didn’t seem to have any inflection in her voice and it was all monotone, but she kicked it in and had fun with it. And she was working those jean shorts for some votes tonight, huh?

Joey Cook – She sings “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea. I just love her and she seems to love the fact that she is on this show and she loves that people keep voting her through. She takes a very popular song and puts her twist on it and I love it. Her voice is so unique and this was a great performance. I am a fan of her and her quirky style!

When FOX gets a hit, they like to put it into overkill. We have Jussie Smollett and Yazz from Empire here to perform “No Apologies” and they are some attractive men, huh? Fun performance, but keep Empire on it’s own!

Clark Beckham – He sings “Takin’ It To The Streets” by The Doobie Brothers. I love how Clark gets deep for some of the notes that he hits. You can tell it comes from deep within him and I love that, but it looks so effortless also. He sits down at the piano and is having some fun up there and another solid vocal from Clark and his sexy blue eyes!

Jax – She sings “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift. For the first time this season, I didn’t see or hear Jax on that stage tonight. This just seemed like a copied version of Taylor’s song and I was disappointed. She usually puts her twist on the songs, but I didn’t get that this time. I am truly disappointed with this performance on American Idol 2015 tonight.

Qaasim Middleton – He sings “Jet” by Paul McCartney & Wings. Qaasim is an entertainer and that is why I love him. He has so much fun on that stage, but they tried to show another side of him tonight. He grabbed a guitar and sang. He had fun, but this was not the best performance for me. His voice is not great, but he entertains and that did not come through tonight.

Adanna Duru – She sings “Runaway Baby” by Bruno Mars. This one shocked me, as I thought Adanna was going home tonight! I think she has a great voice, but she always seems to be all over the place with her vocals and Harry Connick, Jr. told her she was way out of tune last night. Tonight, she worked that stage and had fun and I was liking the vocals and she sounded good.

Tyanna Jones – She sings “Tightrope” by Janelle Monae. Every time she sings, I have to remind myself that she is only 16 years old! She is so mature with her singing and her voice. I love the control she has of her vocals and this was an upbeat song and she had fun up there and she can take on any song and it always sounds great!

Daniel Seavey – He sings “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. I have said it before and I’ll say it again. This is a singing competition and not a cute baby contest. Daniel is a cutie, but his vocals aren’t on the same level as most of the other singers in this competition. It is time to send him home, please!

Quentin Alexander – He sings “Rolling In The Deep” by Adele. It is party night on American Idol 2015, so not sure how this song fits into a party song. However, he said it is a party song back in New Orleans, so who knows. I think he has a great voice and love his style, but not sure about this song. He sounded great in parts, but I am torn overall.

Nick Fradiani – He sings “Wake Me Up” by Aloe Blacc. He has those looks and voice that keep him in the competition. He puts a little twist on this song and I like it. I hate when they just sing the original, so I am impressed by that. He has a solid performance and this was one of my favorites from him this season.

With that, we have Sarina-Joi Crowe remaining and she will sing for the save from the judges! Will she get it? For the save, she sings “Neon Lights” by Demi Lovato. It has to be a unanimous decision and used by Top 5 Week. The judges discuss and won’t be using it tonight, so Sarina-Joi is eliminated!
