Here we go…for tonight, we have three rounds of performances: Scott Borchetta’s Picks, Hometown Dedications and Judges’ Choice. All four contestants will perform in each round and the final results will be announced at the end of the two hours and we’ll see then who is going home! Now to the performances!
ROUND 1 – SCOTT’S PICKS
Rayvon Owen – He performs “Want To Want Me” by Jason Derulo. This is a popular song and it allows Rayvon to show off that vocal range, so I think it is a good choice. Some of those high notes are a little rough on my ears though! He has fun up there though, so that is cool to see him more relaxed.
Clark Beckham – He performs “Beautiful Day” by U2. This is a big song and a little bit of a different sound for Clark. It does allow him to show off a little bit of his vocal range too, so Scott must be on a mission with these song choices. He does a good job with it and I liked it.
Nick Fradiani – He performs “Because the Night” by Bruce Springsteen. Nick said this is one of his favorite songs, so he is excited for the pick by Scott. Why can’t I get on board with being a fan of Nick? I mean, he is cute and has a good voice? But he just bores me.
Jax – She performs “My Generation” by The Who. She was excited for this one and said that Scott gets her. I don’t know what she is wearing, but this was a great song choice for her. She works it out and has fun with it and her voice sounds great on it.
ROUND 2 – HOMETOWN DEDICATIONS
Nick Fradiani – He performs “Back Home” by Andy Grammer. I am liking this song choice from Nick and his voice is working for me on this one. He lets loose some and it is nice to see. I was not bored, so that is a good thing!
Clark Beckham – He performs “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” by Otis Redding. This song choice just screams Clark! He sits down at the piano and nails this performance. He sounds so good and he always looks good behind the piano, right?
Rayvon Owen – He performs “As” by Stevie Wonder. He said he used to sing this song around all of town when he was younger. I am not sure of this song, but he does a good job with it. He does seem more relaxed than other nights this season, so that is nice to see. He sounds good.
Jax – She performs “My Immortal” by Evanescence. While I thought this was a good song choice for her, I am not sure about this one. She definitely had the emotions of the lyrics working for her, but it seemed like she had a weird sound to her voice at times and it did not work for me!
ROUND 3 – JUDGES’ CHOICE
Clark Beckham – He performs “Earned It” by The Weeknd. This is from Fifty Shades of Grey, so that is kind of hot. I am a huge fan of Clark and he sounded sexy and hot on parts of this one, but then that scream got a little too intense for me at other parts. However, I still love him!
Rayvon Owen – He performs “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker. Rayvon seemed to have more fun with his earlier performances, so it was nice to see a slower song and show off his amazing voice. He sounded amazing on this one and could he possibly get a spot in the finale???
Jax – She performs “Misery Business” by Paramore. Harry said this is a tough choice for her and Hayley Williams does great with it, so the pressure is on for Jax. She has a weird sound to her voice and it works on some songs, but I wasn’t feeling it on this song. What do you think?
Nick Fradiani – He performs “I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain. I was not excited about this song choice for Nick, as this song has been done so many times on these singing competitions. However, Nick does a really good job with it and his voice sounded great on it, so props to him!
The performances are done for tonight! Now we get to the results and all four contestants are back on the stage! Clark and Nick are first to be safe tonight, so it left us with Rayvon and Jax. After all the votes from last week, Jax is safe and that means Rayvon Owen has been eliminated tonight!
