The Top 12 did not impress them, so will the Top 11 up their game and give us some big, wow performances on American Idol 2014 tonight? Find out during our American Idol 2014 Top 11 Performances Spoilers Live Recap and see the videos of the performances tonight!

Last week on American Idol Season 13, the Top 12 took on the theme of “Home” and performed songs that reminded them of home. While the judges were very critical with the contestants and were even harsh at times, they just wanted more and more from them. During the results show, we saw Emily Piriz eliminated in a shocking elimination, at least in my opinion. We also saw Phillip Phillips return to the Idol stage for a performance of his new single “Raging Fire” and it was hot!

Here we go…we have Ryan Seacrest, the Top 11 and the American Idol judges 2014 in place and we waste some time chatting, but now time for the Top 11 to perform Songs from the Cinema!

Sam Woolf – He sings “Come Together” by The Beatles from Across The Universe. He wants to show off a different side of himself, so he picked a more upbeat song. I will admit that Sam is a cutie and has all the girls loving him, but I don’t get it. This is an awkward one for me and a bad song choice for him. He doesn’t have that range and just needs to sing the slower and emotional songs, but he is having fun (or trying to) and that is nice to see.

Jessica Meuse – She sings “Sound of Silence” by Simon & Garfunkel from The Graduate. She said this is a very deep song and needs to be brought back to music today. She said she sings this song in every one of her sets when she performs and you can tell. She has a strong voice and this fits it perfectly. It is calm and mellow and done very well. This is her style of music she shines at!

CJ Harris – He sings “Can’t You See” by The Marshall Tucker Band from Blow. He said he heard this song back in the day and he just fell in love. Him and his band learned it right away and he’s been doing it for like five years now! He was rocking out with this song and he seemed very comfortable. I enjoyed this one from him and he had that grit going at times that was enjoyable on American Idol 2014!

Dexter Roberts – He sings “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd from Forrest GumpNo reason for him singing this song, but Ryan Seacrest says the audience will probably be singing along with this one! How can you go wrong with this song? Everyone knows this song and it is so relatable and he does a good job with it. I am not sure if you can do this song wrong though, can you?

Ben Briley – He sings “Bennie and The Jets” by Elton John from 27 Dresses. He said he grew up with Elton John and his Mom would play it all the time and when he saw this song, he had to pick even though he never saw the movie! He cleans it up and loses the hat tonight on American Idol 2014! I was worried about this one when he said what he was singing, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I am a fan of Ben and he sounded good at times, but he needs to stick to country!

Majesty Rose – She sings “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel from Frozen. She said this song should have been written for her! I was wondering if anyone would take on this song and here we go. This scares me! And I was right…no one should have taken this on. I think Majesty is a great performer and has a strong voice, but you can’t take on Idina! This song is way popular right now and she was not that strong with it. What do you think?

Caleb Johnson – He sings “Skyfall” by Adele from Skyfall. This is a weird option for Caleb. He is taking on Adele. The rocker is singing Adele? This will be interesting to watch. To be honest, he can sing and that is all that matters. He puts his rocker twist on the song and sounds great, even taking on Adele. He made it his own and gets a standing ovation from Keith Urban!

MK Nobilette – She sings “To Make You Feel My Love” from Hope Floats. She said she sang this song during a high school talent show and fell in love with it. She loves every cover done of it and here she go. MK is back! She has struggled with her last performances and her vocals, but she nailed this one. She sounded great and seemed comfortable and hits some higher notes. She shows the emotions of the song and I loved it!

Alex Preston – He sings “Falling Slowly” from Once. He said he fell in love with the song before even seeing the movie. We saw Alex & Sierra perform this song during their run at winning The X Factor USA Season 3 and he reminds me of them so much. He has that unique, indie voice and it worked for them and works for Alex. Great performance and song choice and another nailed performance for Mr. Preston!

Jena Irene – She sings “Decode” by Paramore from Twilight. She said she is feeling confident about this one and wanted to sing it on the show ever since she made the Top 13. I swear, Jena is rising more and more up my chart of favorites as the weeks go on on American Idol Season 13. She has a strong and different voice and this fit it perfectly. She sat at that piano and nailed it!

Malaya Watson – She sings “I Am Changing” from Dreamgirls. She said she saw the movie with her Mom and Dad and cried so many times. She was touched by the song and why she wanted to sing it tonight. Was it as good as Jennifer Hudson in the movie? No, but she still does her thing and is very entertaining to watch. This is a huge song and she holds her own and I am impressed. She gets standing ovations from Jennifer and Keith!
